The band consists of two multi-instrumentalist singer/songwriters. Armistead Burwell Smith IV's bass playing gives Pinback one of the strongest rhythm sections in all of music.Autumn is the follow up to 2004's critically acclaimed Summer in Abaddon. On Autumn, Smith and Crow employ Rocket from the Crypt drummer Mario Rubalcaba and No Knife drummer Chris Prescott to expand their deep grooving math rock style.Otherwise not much has changed since Summer in Abaddon. Algo que en su esencia conservan en ?This Red Book?. Con ?Sender?, ?Blood On Fire? y ?Syracuse?, la banda muestra esa faceta un poco minimalista, por momentos con algunos toques beatlescos pero en un entorno enigmático y agridulce en sus letras.
