According to Channel 4 it will be sold in America as well as Europe and Japan. The bad news? There is no bad news, only more juicy tidbits like; the concept will debut at the Paris Motor Show in October and once we get our heads around that, the production model reveal is scheduled for the Geneva Auto Show in the Spring. Like that? There's more! The supermini with Pininfarina badging (not pictured above) should seat four and cost in the neighborhood of €15,000. Pininfarina raises capital for electric car project

Initial production of the car, which will be sold across Europe, Japan and in the United States, is scheduled to begin at 2,000 units, mounting up to peak manufacturing at 15,000 vehicles annually by 2012. Italian design houses like Pininfarina and Bertone, however, have been struggling to make ends meet. While the latter struggles to emerge from bankruptcy, Pininfarina is raising 100 million euros in capital for the new electric car project by selling shares. Pininfarina family might lose company majority
2008-03-12 04:42:00 Pininfarina has written off 69.6 million euros because of lower production volumes and because future production volumes will be lower than forecast. Its debt grew to 185.4 million euros in 2007 from 129.9 million euros in 2006. In a statement, Pininfarina said it will remain in the red this year. It is planning for an operative breakeven in 2009. A new industrial plan approved today aims to reach a 7 percent operating margin in 2010. The electric car that Pininfarina will build with Bollore will be the main driver of 2010 planned turnaround. The four-seat car will be sold as a Pininfarina in Europe, the US and Japan starting in 2010. Pininfarina and Bollore will invest about 150 million euros in the 50-50 joint venture to build 15,000 vehicles a year.

Now we know, courtesy of Pininfarina itself, that it will be an electric-hydrogen hybrid system and not a typical one at that (not all concept cars need to generate 700 hp the way the Sintesi apparently does). The unique design places little fuel cells throughout the vehicle - now that ridiculously long cab we can see in the sketch makes more sense. According to Autoblog, Pininfarina is releasing information week-by-week as we build up to the Geneva show, so we'll have to wait another few days for more tidbits. The four-seat Pininfarina electric car will provide a 250km range in city driving and is designed to operate for more than 200,000km.The car will feature battery technology Bollorè has spent 15 years developing. What makes Bollorè so-called Lithium Metal Polymer technology different from traditional Lithium Ion technology is that each battery cell is electronically protected by passive and active systems that constantly monitor operating efficiency, voltage and temperature of each element. Dubbed the Sintesi, the show car will not only be stylish but will also showcase some new active safety systems. "This concept car is the synthesis of our values, of the love for our work and our passion for innovation, of beauty driven by functionality, of sportiness and elegance.
