2007-08-17 11:30:00 A classic re-visit today for a film you may have missed. This 2004 film is actually a remake of a 1987 film and for once is a remake that was justified. Denzel Washington stars as the alcoholic bodyguard on a mission to track down a kidnapped child in Mexico. He is phenomonal as always and it is a crime to think he didn't get nominated for any Oscars that year especially when up against the likes of Johnny Depp (Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl) and Jude Law (Cold Mountain). Tony Scott's MTV style direction works well here unlike some of his other movies. This is very much a JM RECOMMENDS.

2007-06-13 11:43:00 Like almost everyone I also saw Pirates Of The Carribean: At World's End a while ago. As for all the summer blockbusters it is probably the most anticipating one. The earlier two has been reaal box-office smashes gaining billions of dollars. But while the earlier two were very good and fun, this one was kinda lacking it. It was very long and also a bit confusing at times, even though I did manage to understand everything. Compared two the first two this one was a big dissapointent. Thinking about it right now, I don't even remember what it was about exactly. So much happened. But what I do remember is that it really felt like a the final part of a trilogy. All loose ends got finished with and the all live happily ever after. Well, beside Will Turner who is dead and has to spend his dead bringing other dead people to the underworld.Final Verdict: ***I have to say I kind of lost interest since the last one. Hector was revived for him to be named as a temporary captain of the Black Pearl, alongside with the former Black pearl crew, Joshamee Gibbs, Elizabeth Swann, and the other crew. But then I realized, it's better-off rather than not watching the film at all. And as the age of piracy comes to a close, Captain Jack Sparrow, Will Turner and Elizabeth Swann must sail off the edge of the map, navigate treachery and betrayal, and make their final alliances for one last decisive battle. The film begun with Lord Cutler Beckett as he unmercifully executed the mass who were associated with piracy. 2006-07-18 09:47:00 arrrrrrr.. ...supporters of captain jack gather round... i've recently seen the 2nd installment of Captain Jack's movie, the "Pirates of the Carribean: Dead Man's Chest"...actually i've waited for this more than "Superman Returns".. well i've been a fan of Mr. Willy Wonka since 21 jump st. and Ms. Keira Knightley (since she looked a lot like Natalie Portman in my mind...) since the 1st Pirates and of course who can forget Mr. Legolas ...on to the review...well in the immortal words of a pirate... "arrrrr.. its darn good!!" i wasnt disappointed with how the movie turned out... even though part 2 seems like an introduction only to the part 3 of the series.. heck.. everybody loved the LOTR, Matrix and StarWars saga anyways...as usual it was superb acting from Mr. Depp... his patented "savvy" and funny lines bring life to his character... Mr. Bloom, well on the otherhand is in his usual Legolas self: the leading man type of role or "superhero" role if you will.. in my country.. its... |
