The latest target opening date is the first week of November. The opening of the Taylor Street outpost has been pushed to at least February 2010. But in other, non-delayed brick-oven pizza news, Pizzeria Serio is coming to Belmont Avenue just west of Ashland in Lakeview. The pies here won't be as authentic as those Nella is promising (we're told they'll fall somewhere between New York-style and Neapolitan), but we wouldn't be surprised if they end up beating Nella's to the table. Sure, the way reservations are made are a bit wacky. You actually have to reserve 30 days before the date you want to dine there; however, if you call the day off, sometimes you may get lucky. You also have the option of eating at the bar, but that can sometimes be anywhere from a 20 minute to more than hour wait. But I believe in the maxim that good things come to those who wait and by my estimation, you are rewarded for all the hassle by the great food that comes out of Mozza's kitchen.
