2008-06-03 22:30:00 Does your home look dark and gloomy like some kind of a haunted house at night? I certainly hope not but in case your home does looked like one, please spend some money and install night lights or some motion detection light at strategic places around your home. We have a lot of reliable China-made motion detection lights nowadays and anybody can afford to install a few. Go and ask any cops and they can tell you that the most common way for a house burglar to gain entry into any house is through a window that has been left open or unlocked by the house owner. Yeah, checking windows and making sure that they are shut and lock properly is properly the hardest thing to do for a lazy person but please do not take this for granted. Check and make sure that your windows are properly locked and secured before leaving home even if you are in a hurry to go out! Stop hiding or leaving your house keys on common places such as on top of the door frame, under the door mat or in some pots of p...

Basic Carp Fishing Pointers
2008-05-30 13:11:00 Frustrating as it is, carp fishing is awesome. Carp are really good at sucking in and blowing out suspicious baits. It’s such an excitement to see the whole action in a fraction of a second as you hang on for dear life while the reel is trembling with a loud noise. Carp happily devour on the surface as long as you keep the pellets, biscuits, chic peas, bread, and re-hydrated corn coming in, and these are inexpensive baits as well. Just attach them to the hooks, most preferably the bread. Have the biscuits softened by dipping it in the water for about 2 minutes, then, place them in a sealed sandwich bag for about an hour. Since different brands have different textures, just experiment to know which is firm enough to cast. Another way to hook baits is super gluing the pellet into the shank. Once they get into feeding, let them feel comfortable around the bait. This gives more opportunity for the fisherman since they begin to not feel picky. This tactic can be useful for zig rigs...
Vehicle Storage- Preparation Pointers
2008-05-29 15:09:00 Vehicle storage is a service that some storing companies get involved in. Not all companies want or desire customers to store their modes of transportation on their property. You can never predict if a car will leak fluid on your grounds or be left behind for you to pay to stow away. So why do some facilities have vehicle storage available? Remember, most companies will do whatever it takes to stay ahead of the competition. If the storing company down the way does not have vehicle storage , maybe it might be an advantage that you can look into. If you take a second to think about it, there is a need for this type of storing. There are many types of professions that require a person to be away from their transportation for months or years of time. Every market is different and conducting surveys in your community to figure out if this is a smart business decision for your facility. Cars are meant to be driven. Leaving a vehicle unattended for a long period of time can ...

Wise Pointers On Losing Weight Safely
2008-02-13 03:47:00 Wise Pointers on Losing Weight Safely People who want to lose weight commonly, and first of all, think about reducing the amount of food they eat. This may be quite a solution but not exactly the best there is. In fact, depending on the amount you reduce in your food intake, it may even be dangerous to one's health. So how does one lose weight effectively and safely? Here are some points one should consider when trying to lose weight: Beware of the Crash Diets Most people think that trimming down the calories can alone shed off their unwanted excess. Probably this is because of the fad there is in advertising about low-calorie food products and beverages. What people don't know is that this could be dangerous because when they decrease their calorie intake way to below the required levels, the body begins to digest the fats. Sounds good but it doesn't actually. Burning fat requires a lot of energy. Since there is not much energy in the body to facilitate metabolism of fat, it wil...

Some pointers for gamers
2007-10-03 06:07:00 Game stories can be difficult at first, especially when they have to be filed on deadline late at night. But you'll need to keep practicing if you are going to get better. Taking scores from coaches for nightly prep roundups is one of the best ways you can improve. You might have to write 10-20 leads in a single night, which will force you to find ways to briefly offer the key plays, key stat, or the significance of the game. To learn more, critique stories from the Associated Press, where experienced writers file solid gamers against all kinds of pressing deadlines. But also analyze game stories that offer an angle that is not connected to a key stat. These stories may focus on a key play, an unusual circumstance, or some other key angle in the lead before citing the result of the game.Editors want tight, bright stories that include quotes from key players and that touch on key facts and emotions without omitting major factors. Says Jim Ruppert, sports editor for the Springfield (...

Top 4 Legal Pointers when Buying Property
2007-09-19 11:07:00 Before you buy, ask a conveyancer to check zoning regulations and title deed conditions so you know what your new neighbours are allowed to do. If you lose your view or find a business loading zone right next door, you have only yourself to blame. If you are a first time buyer and wondering whether to buy in your own name or set up a cc, company or trust, remember that under the SARS regulations for capital gains tax, you now face 50 per cent tax liability on the nett capital gain when selling a property registered in a trust, cc or company, as opposed to 25 per cent as an individual. If you buy into a sectional title and want to extend your unit, you will need the approval of the members of the body corporate before you go ahead. If your neighbour at the end of the street paints his double-storey facade a lurid pink, there is nothing you can do. Grin and bear it!

8 Not So Usual But Practical Pointers About Saving Money Going Back to Scho
2007-08-20 19:08:00 Summer holiday is ending soon and back to school season is approaching! For kids, this is a dreadful time because their holiday is about to end. For parents, it often means having to spend a bunch of money. To say the least, September is not often the best month when it comes to savings. I’ve jog down a few things below for us to think about while getting your kids through school. Let me know what you think. Computer - If your child is going to university, one of the first suggestions is having a laptop. This can often get extremely expensive and the cost is only high because your child is telling you what he/she wants instead of what he/she needs. Don’t get me wrong, the laptop is the number one essential tool to get through school these days but you do not need the highest end graphics card and a huge LCD display to finish the math assignment. Try to look for value by comparing different brands. For more help, you might want to talk to the representatives at best buy o...

What is 'this' Pointer?
2007-08-15 08:39:00 Have a look at the following code: // program to illustrate 'this' // pointer #include <iostream.h> // class class myclass { int a; public: myclass(int); void show(); }; myclass::myclass(int x) { // same as writing a=10 this->a=x; }; void myclass::show() { // same as writing cout<<a; cout<<this->a; } // main void main() { myclass ob(10); ob.show(); } Now look at the awkward looking lines: this->a=x; and cout<<this->a; As you can see ‘this’ looks like a pointer to an object which is neither declared neither as a local nor as a global variable. So how the member function is using it? Actually ‘this’ is a special argument which is passed implicitly to every member function. It points to the specific object of the class that generated the call to that function. So if we have the following line of code: myclass ob1, ob2; ob2.sho...

What is Polymorphism?
2007-07-28 15:37:00 Polymorphism means to have one interface for different methods or functions. It is the ability through which we can do different operations (by calling different functions) from the same interface. In C++ functions and operators can be made to be polymorphic, but in this article we’ll only be discussing about polymorphic functions. There can be two types of polymorphism which are discussed below: Compile-Time Polymorphism: When we have two or more polymorphic function (overloaded functions) and the call to a particular function is resolved (or known) at the compile-time, it is called compile-time polymorphism. The following example program illustrates this. Please read the comments for further information. // program to demonstrate // compile-time polymorphism #include<iostream.h> // -- FUNCTION PROTOTYPES -- // -- OVERLOADED FUNCTIONS -- void func(int); void func(char *); // -- ENDS -- void main() { ...
Array of Functions
2007-07-28 08:09:00 In the article Pointers to Function, we saw how pointers can be made to point at functions and hence can be used to invoke them. By far the most important use of pointers to functions is to have arrays of functions. This can be achieved as stated below You already know that we can have arrays of pointers and pointers can be made to point at functions. So combining both we can have array of pointers to functions put differently, we can have array of functions. The example program below demonstrates how we can have array of functions; please note that this concept is mostly used in writing compilers and interpreters, so you shouldn’t expect the program to do anything serious or useful! // Program to demonstrate // array of functions #include<iostream.h> // -- FUNCTION PROTOTYPES -- void func1(); void func2(); void func3(); void func4(); void func5(); // -- ENDS -- void main() { // notice the prototype void (*ptr[5])();...
Introduction to Linked Lists III
2007-07-23 15:46:00 In the article Introduction to Linked Lists, we introduced the concept of linked list, the example program was programmed to be able to add and display the elements in the linked list. In reality only addition of elements to the linked list is not enough to take the most out of linked list; we should be able to do other operations such as insertion, deletion of elements etc. This article would teach you to do such operation (insertion, addition, deletion etc). The program itself is quite big and has enough comments so I won’t discuss anything here; rather I leave it up to you to understand all the operations yourself! // -- Linked Lists -- // ------------------ // Example program to illustrate // addition, insertion, deletion // and display of nodes in the // linked list #include<iostream.h> // node class, this will // represent the nodes or elements // of the linked list class node { public: int info; node ...

Introduction to Linked Lists Part II
2007-07-16 09:02:00 In the previous article Introduction to Linked Lists, we introduced the basic concept of linked list. To make the program (an the article) as simple as possible, we discussed only the addition and display of nodes in the linked list although necessary we didn't’t discussed the deletion of node in that article. In this article we will be discussing about the deletion of nodes from linked lists. Deletion of node (elements) from a linked list The node to be deleted can be represented by many ways but here we will be representing it by its info. So if we have the following linked list And we want to delete node1 then we will express it by its info part (i.e. 10). The main theory behind deletion of nodes is pretty simple. We need to make the link pointer of the node before the target node (to be deleted) to point at the node after the target node. Suppose if we wish to delete node having info as 10 from the above linked list then it will be accompl... |
