Clint Eastwood Doesn?t Want to be Politically Correct
2009-02-28 06:13:00
Clint Eastwood has always told it how it is or at least what is on his mind.  ‘Dirty Harry’ continues to keep doing just that.  Eastwood believes we have all become too politically correct and frankly he doesn’t think that is a good thing at all. “People have lost their sense of humour. In former times ...
Politically Correct Hatred of Gays in Canada

You know those so-called “Human Rights” Commission in Canada.  Have you ever noticed that the only people who seem to suffer for the speech codes those commissions eneforce in the Great White North come from the political or cultural right? Mark Steyn offers an interesting observation:  why is no one citing the hateful statements of radical ...

Politically Correct Plaque Attack
2008-05-28 23:19:00
As one might expect in today's virulently aggressive politically correct culture, a movement is afoot to rewrite history, which includes "amending the plaques, statues, and memorials of historical figures to reflect their racist sentiments." (Christian Science Monitor). One movement afoot is to footnote a bust of Supreme Court Justice Roger Taney as a racist because he wrote the majority opinion in the Dred Scott case ... For another example, some South Carolinians want to tack a plaque on the base of the big bronze statue of Reconstruction-era Governor and US Senator Ben Tillman who, according to the Charleston City Paper, had a hand in rewriting the state constitution that "disenfranchised blacks and established the segregation laws which stood for 70 years" and, incidentally, advocated lynching Negroes." read more

This is a Canadian production. Here are some gems."BCE Battling Christianity everywhere. Used to be BC or AD but the minority who dictate what is allowed in our democracy and who hate Christianity virulently will not even give credit to the religion that named it to be 2007 in the year of our lord. The Effects of Politically Correct War

Over the last few years, I’ve been asked many times why I have spent so much time and energy on what I call ROE/Laws of War cases: The ones where soldiers and Marines get charged with murder for doing their jobs during combat operations. It’s not just a hobby where I play around, read ...

Politically Correct Holiday Greetings
2007-12-28 06:59:00
On December 25th, I received an email from a former adult ESL student of mine. She had lived and worked in the U.S. for less than one year. She's now back in her home country. The subject line of the email was "Merry Christmas." I have to admit that in this time of being overly politically correct, it was kind of nice to hear from someone who hasn't been influenced by our culture and the extreme end we've moved to in the last couple of years. (And I used to be one of those people who were slightly offended by store clerks wishing me a "Merry Christmas.")And just to make sure I address the title of this entry, the "politically correct" expressions we now use in the U.S. include "Happy Holidays" and "Seasons Greetings." "Happy Holidays" is used equally for a spoken or a written wish. "Seasons Greetings" if more commonly used as a written expression.--end--
Must we be so politically correct?
2007-12-27 20:48:00
I realized I had not been as politically correct as I should have been when I wished everyone in my classroom a Merry Christmas. "It's Hanukkah too Miss" came the disgruntled reply somewhere from the back.It was my first Christmas or holiday season in the US, and as a teacher of a 7th grade classroom. Having lived in a Christian country (UK) for a significant time where everyone said "Merry Xmas" made it difficult for me to make the transition to "Happy Holidays". But I had to, because that is what is said in PC America. The thing is, I am not even a Christian. In fact, I am a Hindu, and practice moderately. I spent my formative years in India, and we always put up a tree in our living room every December. We sent cards to all our friends in India and abroad. We wished school friends a Happy Christmas. We had cake from our favorite shop in Kolkata on Christmas eve.It never occurred to me that we didn't or shouldn't have to say those two words because we weren't Christian. Nor tha...

This weekend’s production of the classic whodunit was canceled after Gary Hines, president of the local NAACP ...

One Way To Be Politically Correct
2007-11-19 19:22:00
When I arrived The Rooster was wearing a hand painted, paper and pipe cleaner pilgrim bonnet.[The latest in haute pilgrim!]While the girls wore bonnets, the boys in Rooster's class donned tall, stiff pilgrim hats made from black and white paper with exaggerated front buckles. The Rooster led me to my seat at the daycare Thanksgiving lunch. At my seat a brown paper turkey placeholder said "Guest of The Mayor and The Rooster." The Mayor was already seated. The Mayor and all his classmates wore headdresses, brown construction paper bands with three different colored paper feathers stapled to the back.I assumed I was dining with a band of tiny pilgrims and a slightly taller group of Native Americans. "Do you like my hat?" Rooster asked."I do!" I told her. "You make a great pilgrim."Not wanting to be left out, The Mayor said, "Do you like my hat too?" "I do!" I said. "Are you a Native American?"The Mayor rolled his eyes. "No, Mom. I'm a turkey butt!"Ah, yes. I guess I knew that.
Apartheid is politically correct

The South African model is urged on Israel by many well-wishers from the West and especially from Muslim countries. Politically Correct Halloween

Last Wednesday was Halloween, but there's still something very scary out there. It doesn't wear a mask, it doesn't say "Boo!" and it's not hiding under your bed. Chances are, it's in your kid's school. I'm talking about the Politically Correct Educator. You know the one... the person who bans plastic swords or laser blasters from Halloween costumes. The one who says "the world has become too dangerous" for kids to dress up like a cowboy, or a pirate, or a soldier. The one who...(read more)

Global Warming No Longer Politically Correct?
2007-09-29 00:41:00
It could be just me, but has anyone noticed this in the news? For those of you who care to watch, it seems whenever reporters mention anything about global warming, they refer to it as "climate change."Even Google is doing it. In fact, the last time they mentioned the words "global warming" was last April.I'm seeing the same thing in the news, which use to shout out "global warming" every time they thought Al Gore was watching (or Goracle as many on the right are now calling him).Could it be that Bush is actually winning the "weather war" when it comes to who is responsible for heating Earth up?
It?s politically correct to be Jewish

Greece has Jewish and Muslim citizens, but is a staunchly Christian country, with Christian holidays, the cross as a national symbol, and institutional preference given to Christianity. Studying NLP or hypnosis it usually gives an extra dimension to the appreciation of language. NLPers become increasingly aware of embedded commands, hypnotic suggestions or unwitting implications that slip into their own and other people's language. This is great. It allows for really precise communication, sometimes...On the other hand since some NLPers can be relentlessly positive there can also be a shadow side to this. Intelligent, sensitive aware people who are still often human in some of the most petty ways. So just like the euphemisms used in Human Resources or the military, I have observed some interesting ways of hiding barbs in NLP based language.Below are some examples of the correct NLP way to say something, and its translation into something more... sincereNot all NLPers do this, and not allo f the time. But when they do you can usually tell by the slightly forced quality of the smile they put on while speaking. 'Your map is different from mine' = 'You're wrong!...
