2008-07-27 22:46:00
Barack Obama Gets Poll Bump From Overseas Trip - Up 49 to 41 Percent Over McCain in Gallup Poll Senator Barack Obama is now seeing a the poll bump he said may not happen due to his overseas trip, and particularly his historic Berlin speech drawing over 200,000 people (this equally breath-taking photo is from Portland, Oregon where 75,000 came to hear him speak). The Gallup Daily tracking poll has Senator Obama ahead 49 percent to 41 percent and according to Gallup's Frank Newport, is the largest lead to date in the poll series:Frank Newport - This represents a continuation of Obama's front-runner position evident in the last three Gallup Poll Daily tracking updates. The margin, coincident with the extensive U.S. news coverage of Obama's foreign tour, is the largest for Obama over McCain measured since Gallup began tracking the general election horserace in March.

Reader Poll: Do you think ISO?
2008-07-21 02:00:00
A couple of weeks ago I posted on the topic of "defining compliance." One of the suggestions raised was that businesses that identify a common control framework, or combination of frameworks, may have an opportunity to significantly reduce costs and redundancies associated with their compliance program. The idea is that rather than approaching each requirement in a silo, and therefore attacking each related security requirement in isolation, it would be better to ensure that the organization is looking more horizontally at the types of security controls that must be enacted in the context of all the requirements that must be met...

Zogby International: Poll Shows Barack Obama Currently Sways Enough Elector
2008-07-07 15:50:00
Conservatives And Independents Are Flocking To Bob Barr (LP) And Barack Obama — “Obamacan” Ranks Growing Rapidly It’s not looking too bright right now for the ONLY United States Senator who was born in the nation of Panama only later to migrate to the Great State of Arizona, Señor “Panama John” McCain. According to Zoghby, not only is Señor McCain losing miserably in the national polls to Barry Obama by a 44-38 percent margin; Barry is currently swaying 273 members of the Electoral College his way as well. Of course, one only needs 270 Electoral votes to claim the Royal Throne of This Oligarchical Monarchy’s President “Surge” W. Bush King George II. Not so good news for “Panama John” but hey — the actual election isn’t being held today — and that’s great news for the rapidly-aging Senator from Arizona… First, from Zogby International: Zogby Poll: Building Mo-bama! Barack Obama Maintains Five - Point Lead In Gallup Daily Poll
2008-07-01 20:31:00
For some reason, CNN's not reporting the Gallup Daily Poll, which shows Senator Barack Obama ahead of Senator John McCain by a consistent five points. Right now, it's 47 percent versus 42 percent. What bothers me is that the polls imply that there are equal number of registered Democrats and Republicans, when in point of fact, more Democrats have turned out to vote than Republicans. What's going on? More later.

Yankee Stadium Poll
2008-06-24 18:49:00
2008 marks the final season that the New York Yankees play at Yankee Stadium. "The House That Ruth Built" opened in 1923 and is the third oldest stadium in baseball behind only Wrigley Field in Chicago and Fenway Park in Boston. No baseball field has hosted more World Series games and some of the greats such as Babe Ruth, Lou Gehrig, Joe DiMaggio, Mickey Mantle, Reggie Jackson and Roger Maris called Yankee Stadium home.Although I have attended baseball games at over a dozen stadiums, Yankee Stadium is not one of them. I think there is an expectation from passionate baseball fans that I should attend a game at Yankee Stadium before it closes at the end of the season. However, with limited time available to attend a weekend game over the next few months (it is doubtful that I would be able to take time off from work to go during the week) and the high cost of tickets, I am questioning whether or not I should try to go. In addition, in his book "God Save the Fan," Deadspin’s Wil...

Populus poll gives 20 point Conservative lead.
2008-06-09 23:55:00
From the Times:Public support for Labour and Gordon Brown continues to plunge to new lows with the Prime Minister's leadership rating falling to a level even below that suffered by Iain Duncan Smith according to a new poll for The Times.Labour?s rating has dropped by 4 points since early May to 25 per cent, with the Conservatives up 5 points to 45 per cent. This is by far the worst Labour position since 1997 and the best Tory one. The Liberal Democrats are up one point at 20 per cent, according to the Populus poll. Only three-fifths of those who voted Labour in 2005 say they would do so now, compared with 95 per cent of Tories staying loyal. Almost one in five of those who voted Labour in 2005 say they would vote Tory in an election now. Moreover, Mr Brown has lost the benefit of the doubt of voters. His leader rating (on a 0 to 10 scale of very bad to very good) has fallen for the fifth time running, down from a peak of 5.49 last July to 3.9 now. This is lower any of the other sev...

Early Rasmussen Poll: “Barry” Obama Leads “Panama”
2008-06-07 03:06:00
Why The “Barry Bump” In The National Polls In The Last Few Days? I Have (as usual) A Theory… Hey, do you think just MAYBE Barry Obama could be leading the Panamanian-born and eventual migrant to the Great State Of Arizona, U.S. Senator and present G.O.P. presidential “hopeful”, Señor John McCain, because he has, thus far, avoided naming Her Royal Highness, Sir Hillary Rodham Clinton as his running mate? Guess what? I DO. I happened to check out MemeOrandum as usual, just to see what my fellow bloggers were arguing about, and somewhere down beneath the fold, I saw the link to one of the newest Rasmussen polls showing that Señor McCain was favored in another “Great State” by the name of “West Virginia by a margin of 45% to 38%. Lazy Friday poll ~ your bespoke perfume
2008-06-06 21:22:00
Things I did not do this week: I did not finish the second part of Things I wish I'd known as a newbie perfumista. Nor did I finish the follow-up post to Perfumista tip: on lists of fragrance notes, why they matter & why they don't. I did, however, watch most of the first season of Flight of the Conchords (any fans?), and I made serious headway in clearing out untried perfume samples. So the week was not totally wasted. Still, here we are on Friday with nothing to post, again, so I'm taking a suggestion from reader Santemon for a poll topic: describe the custom fragrance of your dreams, and name the perfumer you'd choose to have develop it for you. I've already mentioned one of my dream perfumes. It's a "very green jasmine, bright and sparkling and just a bit indolic, over masses of dusty incense and a tiny dollop of dark woods". I am really torn on the perfumer choice, but after much thought I've decided on Daphne Bugey. Note: image of bearded iris, Two-tones (cro...
