2009-09-21 10:00:00 Saturday I had my day all planned out: cleaning, ironing, a basketball game, exercising, washing cars but then I got an invitation and all that work stuff was thrown out the window (including, incidentally, writing a post for Monday).Anchorage sits on an arrow of land pointing west into Cook Inlet. If you drive along the inlet and head north you'll arrive at the towns of Wasilla and Palmer (Wasilla of course being the home of our most famous moose-shooting-Carhart-wearing--snowmachining politician, Miss Sarah Palin and her media-lovin' family). That whole area to the north of Anchorage once you get across the bridge is called the Matanuska-Susitna Valley, or Mat-Su for short and it's one of the fastest growing areas of the state. Growing in population that is, the land itself is pretty much staying the same size as it's been for quite a while now. 2008-11-04 11:30:00 I was at the horse sale, and they had 200 ponies come through.  I don't know if I was allowed to take pictures or not, so I snapped only one with my phone.  I really like the black pony with the white face.  His markings looked like flames on his face.  Whether that meant he was a demon or he was born to be a tiny barrel racer, I don't know but he sure was cute. There were also about 15 pony foals.  Fredi already said that when Cristino gets older he's getting two of them.  I read about a five year old boy who's father is a horse trainer and the kid has his own pony training business.  This kid trains them and then runs them through a sale. Sarah would make a perfect beginners or childrens horse, especially for someone who is nervous around horses, as she loves to have bonding time. She does not spook easily and is nice and calm when introduced to new situations. Sarah is very easy to catch as she will come to a whistle. She stands quietly when sacked out with a plastic bag.

They have out grown them and moved up but these two are great ponies for a small kid. They will drive, and ride, sweet easy going. Matched all the way down to there white hinde sock, one is a mare and she is a little shorter (1/2 inch ithink), and the gelding is a liitle younger.
