Vintage Portobello
2008-02-20 08:17:00 Vintage Portobello Bryony Gordon rifles through a treasury of fashion classics heading for auction In pictures: Vintage clothing In pictures: Vintage accessories For almost 50 years, stall 22 on the Portobello Road in London was where to go if you wanted affordable vintage frocks and costume jewellery. Vintage-appeal:- Stall 22 used to be a haven for cheap designer clothing, with second-hand appeal Nestled at the Notting Hill Gate end of the world-famous London market, the stall was a mecca for collectors and fashion lovers who flocked to see what its owner, Mary Brown, had for them each weekend. So when Mary died last year, aged 82, many feared that a little bit of Portobello would go with her. Were it not for a throw-away comment by a local auctioneer, that might well have been the case. After her death, Mary's husband, Peter, 80, took some Chinese vases to be valued at a local auction house. "They were neither here nor there," says Emma Hill of the firm Auction Atrium, "but ...

Portobello Smothered Pork Tenderloin Stuffed with Parmesan Broccoli
2007-11-11 09:16:00 Here is another pork recipe by a recipezaar member that I tried last night. My hubby found it delicious, I thought it could have done with a little more liquid left after cooking to pour over pork. The overall flavour was very good and it all worked really well together the pork came out very tender. I will definitely be making again but I think next time I will add a little more wine and perhaps some water. I also only cooked at 190c instead of 200c and for less time, this is because I had a pork tenderloin of far less weight as it was only for 2. I served mine with twice baked parsnip mash and apricot glazed carrots. If you enjoyed this recipe or would like to see other recipes by this chef click http://www.recipezaar.com/32187-Ingredients1 1/2-2 1/2 lbs pork tenderloins, butterflied 2 lbs portabella mushrooms, sliced1 tablespoon butter or olive oil1/2 cup white wine1/4 cup fresh cilantro leaves, chopped2 cloves garlic, smashed, dividedsalt and pepper1/2 lb broccoli florets, chopped...

Per farvi un'idea personaleLa Strega di Portobello è l'ultimo libro di Paulo Coelho, scrittore brasiliano che nel 1987 si è fatto conoscere con Il Cammino di Santiago. Chicken Tropicale with Pomegranate Glazed Green Beans & Portobellos
2007-01-25 23:21:01 In the thick of January, comfort food takes on new meaning. The days may be longer [stretching achingly slow, by minutes] but for this casita-bound goddess [I'm not one to strap on skis or skates or hurtle downhill on a taboggan, Darling] each successive chilly day invades my bookworm bones a little deeper. I get restless. I get itchy. And I need comfort food. The kind of comfort food cooked slowly, all day. The kind of comfort food that warms the house with fragrance and flavors from a warmer clime. Coconut and spice. The kind of comfort food that falls apart with a fork - tender, melty, sweet and fiery all at once. So I knew what I had to do. I improvised and tossed together some of my favorite ingredients in the Crock Pot, and we got the hell out of the casita and drove into town. After a day in Santa Fe doing errands and getting a total pick-me-up shake-me-loose fabulous hair cut and highlight from uber-brilliant Michael [who also happens to be a digital artist and designer, an...
