FTC's Material Disclosure Equals Best Practice for Bloggers
2009-10-11 00:08:00
Last November, the Federal Trade Commission caused a group heart attack among bloggers and online advertisers when the agency announced its intention to regulate online endorsements. As the new rules debut this month, however, the only bloggers with cause to fear are the ones who consider their viewers purely as a means to a financial end, rather than as a community of real people worthy of respect....

Here are a few notes from today's Fire practice out at Toyota Park... McBride update - Forward Brian McBride once again took part in full training with the squad today and he looked good, showing no signs of pain in his surgically repaired right shoulder and saying that he feels like he can play in Saturday's game at Real Salt Lake. "It's feeling good, everything's good," said McBride. "I've been in full training [for the last week] and there aren't any issues but we'll see whether [I play on Saturday] or not." Head Coach Denis Hamlett wouldn't say whether or not McBride would play on Saturday, but he did tell me that "all of the players are ready except...
Pokegama TOC Practice Report
2009-09-10 03:21:00
I am actually blogging from the road right now as my club member Henry navigates 169.  Overall I had a pretty productive practice over Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  Getting plenty of bites, catching a few and pulling on most fish.  I found fish from a foot deep to 15ft, plenty of fish biting soft plastics and Tru-Tungsten jigs, but no huge concentrations of fish, so I have a lot of areas to run and gun come tournament time.  I found lots of good keepers in the 1.5 - 2lb range, with a few big ones, hopefully the bite holds for tomorrow and Friday, should be a very good tournament. Here are a few pictures from my practice, check back soon for tournament report, hopefully another Top 12 and trip to divisionals is in my future.TIght Lines!RichRichLindgren.com -;Rich's Bassin' Forum Bass Fishing Tackle Blog

Here are a few notes from today's high-intensity Fire training session... McBride Back in Action - Injured forward Brian McBride (torn labrum) was back on the training field today, participating in his first "full go" practice since having surgery in mid-July. McBride, who isn't listed on the Fire's injury report this week, looked good in practice and didn't seem to be inhibited by the injury whatsoever. "There's actually no pain," said the 37-year old striker. "There's probably still some fluid in there that I have to stay on top of but I'm excited to be back out here."...

Practice Doesn't Make Perfect in Ann Arbor--The Beginning of the End f
2009-08-30 23:05:00
Even before the 2009 season gets underway, controversy and scandal has found its way back onto the Michigan campus. On Saturday, Michael Rosenberg and Mark Snyder of the Detroit Free Press reported that the Wolverines have "consistently violated NCAA rules governing off-season workouts, in-season demands on players and mandatory summer activities under coach Rich Rodriguez." According to six current or former Michigan football players, practice sessions typically exceeded limits set by the NCAA and that members of the team's quality control staff were present for off-season scrimmages, another violation. The players, speaking on the condition on anonymity because they feared repercussions from coaches and fans, revealed that the time demands negatively affected academic performance and that players were forced to sign...

Hey everyone, here are a few notes from today's Fire practice at Toyota Park... Bye-Bye Baky - As you all know, Bakary Soumare's transfer to French team Boulogne went through yesterday, putting a close to his Fire career. But what do his former teammates think about the end of the ordeal that was his final days with the Fire? I think Jon Busch put it best... "You wish him the best," said the Fire keeper. "That's what he wanted. We move on and he moves on. I enjoyed playing with him and I think he's got a bright future, but you know what, he didn't want to be here and we move on. Bay De Noc Practice Days 3 and 4
2009-08-21 15:07:00
Monday morning greeted us with very light winds and a calm LIttle and Big Bay de Nocs to run around on.  We spent just a few minutes checking some pencil reeds between Escanaba and Gladstone, not even a bite.  It was time to check the fish in Big Bay de Noc that we found late Sunday.  When we got there it did not take long for me to catch a beautiful 4lbs smallmouth on a Tru-Tungsten Depth Shad.  Tim ended up catching a 4 and 5lb bass on small spinnerbait, then we got the heck out of there, 3 quick fish for 14lbs and we saw plenty more there. We spent the rest of the day covering water looking for more of the same type structure and cover, we did best on spinnerbaits, jerkbaits and swimbaits.  I alternated between a 13/16oz Golden Shiner Secret Weapon Lures spinnerbait, Ima Flit in Chartreuse Shad, 6" BassTrix in BlueBack Herring and the best bait for me was the 5" Optimum Baby Line Thru Swimbait in Ayu.  Both Tim and I would have had around 20...

2009-08-21 15:07:00
I drove pretty much straight through from MN to the UP on Friday night/Saturday morning so I could start fishing early on Saturday morning for the Northern Divisional that would start on Wednesday.  I arrived around Cedar River area at about 8am, I was greeted with 6 foot plus waves, I fished a little in the harbor and caught a northern and headed 8 miles out to Whaleback Shoal, I found it to windy to fish when I got there.  It was time to meet a team member Tim back at the landing.  We headed up to Ford River area, had a couple bites but no fish.  We then decided to check into our cabin for the evening at Lindberg's Cove up in Gladstone, great resort right on the lake!  Tim and I decided we needed to catch a fish before dinner.  We goofed around, ended up catching 1 keeper largemouth on a white Super K swim jig and then Tim got a nice smallie on a tube, we also caught a few short fish, time for dinner and bed.Day 2 we tried more deep areas, fishing br...

Countdown to Fall: PRIVATE PRACTICE
2009-08-12 16:29:00
Getting to the question that has been on every fan’s mind since the moment last season’s credits rolled — Yes, Violet is alive. Picking up a mere twenty minutes after what turned out to be last Spring’s most buzzed about season finale, actress Amy Brennenman (Violet) promises that, “You’re going to see me again.” Yet the question remains, in what condition? Teased PRIVATE PRACTICE creator Shonda Rhimes on this TV Addict’s recent visit to the set, “Obviously Amy is here on set. But the interesting thing is how she lives and whether or not there will be a baby.” ‘Whether or not there will be a baby?’ WhatchutalkinboutShonda! Unfortunately Rhimes, a notorious spoilerphobe isn’t talking — and we should add — has the uncanny ability for saying a lot without saying, well absolutely anything. Thankfully, what she will confirm is that what happened to Violet, in addition to Addison’s choice to walk away from...

Top Ten Potential Practice Jersey Sponsors for the Bears

Yesterday the Bears announced they've sold some real estate on their practice jersey to NorthShore University HealthSystem. The company's logo will be the first to appear on a Bears jersey and very well could be a preview of things to come if NFL owners start to see some serious profit from such deals. Seeing as how we're a Bears town through and through, we thought it'd be nice to give them some ideas on future partnerships that would make the most sense. Here's what we got. 10. Rush Lakes Practice Report
2009-07-10 09:19:00
Sunday I was able to get up to Rush City with John Haynes to get a little practice on  East & West Rush Lakes for my upcoming club tournament.  We did not get a super early start, probably on the water a little after 8am.  We checked a few reed & dock areas early, not much water on them to speak of, but John did manage a single small keeper.I then drove around East Rush and found what i thought looked to be a good looking inside turn in the outside weedline.  We caught 4 keeper bass from there and big pike, felt we did not need to catch anymore and left.  We then went froggin for a bit, had about 4 hits on my new Mad Maxx Frog, but they all just slapped at it or bumped, they would not commit.  We checked a few more deep areas, trying to duplicate our first area.  John got one bass and I went through a bunch of jig worm hooks, lost to pike.  After that, I went to check some more shallow stuff, did catch the nice 3.44lb bass pictured bel...
Mississippi River - Pool 4 Practice
2009-06-25 21:08:00
This past Saturday I had a window to get some fishing in, so I decided to get down to Pool 4 to start practicing for my next Bassamaster Weekend Series tourney.  Overall practice was hit and miss, found some fish in area that I practiced in for previous tournament, but its a long ways from Alma where we are launching from.Chunky bass that fell fer a Game Hawg creature bait on 3/16oz TT WeightMost of the other areas were hit and miss, but found one nice batch of fish relating to some grass, that was the bright spot of the day other then some ealry flipping and swim jig fish.  Other then that, it was an awesome weather day on the river and Lake Pepin, made it easy to get around other then the boat traffic.I did catch some nice fish on a new bait that i just tried.  KVD Perfect Plastics Game Hawg seems like a really nice bait, its like a Baby Brush How, but just a little bigger and some fine ribbing, very soft and scent built in.  I would reccomend in trying a ...

This is my first attempt at a mobile blog post, so it will be short. Art and I got on the lake around 8am, started shallow caught some decent fish on soft plastics & swim jigs. We then hit some mid-depth areas & found another pod of decent fish. From there it got super slow, hope things are better this weekend. Mississippi River Pool 4 Practice Day 2
2009-05-29 21:15:00
Yesterday for the most part was a struggle for my dad & I on pool 4, our first area produced two small keeper smallies and the next 4 areas had zero action.  Then on a hunch we decided to check  a two other areas and we actually found some keeper largemouth & smallmouth in those areas, nothing great, but much better then nothing. Then with 5 minutes before we had to go, I caught this really nice 18.5" smallie on a White Flash 1/4oz Super K swim jig.  This was probably the lone bright spot of my two days of prefishing thus far.  At least its another cull in the BP Bass Derby.I will get out for a few hours on Saturday, but some of that time must be dedicated to finding Everts resort and best navigation route out of there.  On a positive note, I have not burned my fish......  A strong practice does not always mean a good tournament and Vice Versa.RichLindgren.com Ric-h's Bassin' Forum Bass Fishing Tackle Blog
Mississippi River Pool 4 Practice Day 1
2009-05-29 21:15:00
Memorial Day, my dad and I got out on Pool 4 to start preparing for the upcoming Bassmasters Weekend Series tournament on May 30th.  We decided to launch from Red wing and check some areas in Lake Pepin and stuff closer to the launch ramp. The first two areas we checked produced some decent bites on a Secret Weapon Lures Quickstrike spinnerbait that I custom built for the water conditions, which were fairly muddy just about every where we fished.  I also picked up a few decent fish on a White Flash Super K Swim Jig.  The 3rd area produced one good smallie, the next handful of areas were spotty to say the least. At the very end of the day we found two more areas where we got several bites, a few keepers but nothing over about 2lbs.  Again the spinnerbait & swim jig produced, I also finally got a few fish on my trusty 3/8oz PB&J Tru-Tungsten jig. Overall, I think I got a few areas that can produce a check cashing bag, but on my next trip I plan to search ou...
Mississippi River Pool 2 Redemption - Club Tournament Practice
2009-05-06 21:08:00
A complete 180 occurred this past Saturday on Pool 2.  In short, John Haynes & I were each able to bag a nice limit on the very same body of water that skunked me the weekend before.  I personally believe it had to do with location, we fished many of the same lures & techniques, conditions were pretty similar but the scenery had changed. We started off fishing some rocks on the mouth of a backwater, where John quickly tempted some nice smallmouth with a 3/8oz Sunfish Tru-Tungsten Jig.  Those same fish, showed no interest in my Reaction Innovations Method Crank that I was trying to make work.  When John caught a nice chunky largemouth on that same jig further back in a backwater pocket, I picked up my Black Neon 3" Yum Tube and quickly caught a 12" keeper.  A few pitches later I swung a 19" sow into John's lap while he was re-tying his texas rig.Nice 19" Pool 2 Bass! After proving to myself that the tube would work, I switched to a green pumpkin chatte...

Amy Brenneman Teases Tonight’s PRIVATE PRACTICE Season Finale
2009-04-30 19:21:00
PRIVATE PRACTICE’s Amy Brenneman is a reporter’s worst nightmare. Oh sure, she’s as nice as she is beautiful and came armed with a seemingly-endless array of thoughtful answers and entertaining anecdotes for this TV Addict’s one-on-one interview. But just try and ask one teensy little question about the identity of Violet’s babydaddy or what fans can expect on tonight’s PRIVATE PRACTICE season finale and her portrayer, Amy Brenneman, suddenly gives you the silent treatment. “I’ll tell you a funny story that I don’t even think [PRACTICE creator] Shonda [Rhimes] knows,” shares Brennerman when asked if she ever gets nervous working for the notoriously spoiler-free writer. “I was up in Regina Saskatchewan [Canada] and it was 30 below when I got the offer to do PRIVATE PRACTICE. I was told that when I come back to Los Angeles, I could meet with Shonda. So I said, ‘Great, but I have to read the pilot.’ Which meant...
Pool 2 early practice results
2009-04-28 19:18:00
Well let's get right to the point! Yep, no fish.....  I did have two very good bites on a tube, they were either both pike or I had bad spots in my line on both hooksets, tough to say.  I may have had a couple bites on a Rapala Fat 3 and a SWL Quickstrike spinnerbait, but tough to say.  I spent most of the day alternating between a tube & a white swim jig.  I also threw crankbaits, jerkbaits, spinnerbait and jigs.  Kind of amased I could not get bit on reaction baits with water in the main channel at 54 degrees. To add insult to injury, I snapped my transducer off my trolling motor and my FLW fantasy did not fall in the right order, so no big prizes this week.I am hoping to get back out on Pool 2 this Saturday.  Congrats to KVD for being a stud and winning on an unlikely body of water (Smith Mtn) for him and Stetson Blaylock had a great win on Lake Norman, former co-angler phenom, now FLW tour pro winner!  Too bad Mr. Moynagh could no...

We're Opening the Door to Solo Practice Universityâ„¢!
2009-03-02 14:00:00
The door to Solo Practice Universityâ„¢ will open on: Friday, March 20th at 12:00 noon EST (12:00 p.m EST, 11:00 a.m. CST, 10:00 a.m. MT, 9:00 a.m. PST). This winter was dramatic for the legal industry and all legal professionals. So it seemed appropriate (and irresistibly corny) for us to open the door to Solo Practice Universityâ„¢ on the First Day of Spring, the beginning of a season traditionally associated with promise, rebirth, renewal and growth. For those who remain unfamiliar with Solo Practice Universityâ„¢, it is a web-based educational and professional networking community for lawyers and law students staffed with outstanding faculty ready to teach you how to create and build your solo practice into the 21st century. As Law is Cool noted:The community will be composed of blogs, profiles, a messaging function, and interest-based user groups. SPU has already accumulated a faculty which rivals the size of some law schools, and is continuing to add to that number. It hopes...
