2007-04-10 17:01:00 The mythological story of Prahlad, is described in Vishnu Puran as the fourth incarnation of Vishnu, Nara-simhavatar.Prahlad was the son of the Asura king Hiranyakashipu. The Asuras were super-humans who lived in the underworld, unrighteous in act and were hostile to gods. Hiranyakashipu wanted to be the undisputed ruler of the three worlds - the heaven, the earth and the underworld. He performed severe penance to seek blessing of Brahma for immortality.Brahma, however, declined, saying "All living beings must face death Hiranyakashipul. You can, however, choose your death wish." Hiranyakashipu then asked for three conditions, as his death wish, "He be killed by someone who is neither human nor a beast, in a time which is neither during the day nor during the night, and in a place which is neither inside nor outside." Brahma agreed and Hiranyakashipu got his death wishes granted. Thus he became practically immortal.Hiranyakashipu, with his new powers, attacked heaven and subdued all...
Prahlad to Tour Kerala next week
2006-12-05 19:21:02 All the robotics entusiats who missed the Session by Dr. Prahlad Vadakkepat at IIT M during Shaastra, here is a second chance. He is touring Kerala next week. Unlike Shaastra where Dr. Prahlad displayed a few soccer playing robots with his students from the NUS, in Kerala he would give a few sessions on his researches on Humanoid robotics, Cooperative robotics, Robot soccer systems etc. It sure is promising to be a lot of fun and a good platform to take Robotics to the next level. He will tour Kerala during 14-23 Dec 2006. Good friend Fahad Ali informed me that he would be visiting Model Engineering College, Cochin where interested people can catch his session.
