Circus trip predictions sure to go wrong
2009-11-16 03:50:00
I'm in a select group.   The group that doesn't mind the circus trip.   For one, you have to go on two long west coast trips eventually, so it's not like this is some special curse for them.   Every team is going to hit as many far travel days in a row as it can.   Why not get the tough one out of the way early?    It always leaves so much room for a strong finish....

Big Ten Previews and Predictions (Week Six): Buckeyes and Hawkeyes on Upset
2009-10-10 04:47:00
Big Ten conference play continued last week offering a slew of exciting match-ups. The Spartans won bragging rights over in-state rival Michigan for the second consecutive year, Minnesota battled to the end but failed to take Paul Bunyan's Axe from Wisconsin for the sixth consecutive year, Northwestern spotted Purdue 18 points who then gave the game away for their fourth consecutive loss, and Ohio State extended its conference road game win streak to 16 while beating the Hoosiers for the 15th consecutive time.I went 5-1 for the week. I did predict the Spartans would upset the Wolverines in the annual slugfest for state bragging rights, but underestimated the mighty Badgers who took it to rival Minnesota (in a game that...

Emmy Predictions 2009: Outstanding Drama Series
2009-09-20 16:20:00
In anticipation of Sunday’s EMMY Awards airing on CBS at 8PM, theTVaddict.com is proud [or not-so-proud depending on how things turn out] to once again present our GUARANTEED EMMY WINNERS 2009* NOMINEES: BIG LOVE, BREAKING BAD, DAMAGES, DEXTER, HOUSE, LOST, MAD MEN. SHOULD WIN: BIG LOVE For what BIG LOVE lacks in TRUE BLOOD levels of buzz, it more than makes up for with big drama and a big talented cast. Particularly, Margene (Ginnifer Goodwin), who incidentally was totally snubbed with a lack-of-Emmy nod. WILL WIN: MAD MEN Hamm, Slattery, Moss. Yup, it’s a mad mad world, and we’re just living in it. SNUBBED: BATTLESTAR GALACTICA *theTVaddict.com does not guarantee his “winning picks.” Do not, I repeat, Do not bet the house, kids or family pet on them!
Emmy Predictions 2009: Outstanding Comedy Series
2009-09-20 00:51:00
In anticipation of Sunday’s EMMY Awards airing on CBS at 8PM, theTVaddict.com is proud [or not-so-proud depending on how things turn out] to once again present our GUARANTEED EMMY WINNERS 2009* NOMINEES: ENTOURAGE, FAMILY GUY, FLIGHT OF THE CONCHORDS, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER, THE OFFICE, 30 ROCK and WEEDS. SHOULD WIN: HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER Even though we have a sneaking suspicion that HIMYM will have to settle for a Best Supporting Actor nod for Neil Patrick Harris. WILL WIN: 30 ROCK Not that there’s anything wrong with that. SNUBBED: SUMMER HEIGHTS HIGH The Australian docu-comedy written and directed by Chris Lilley was far and away HBO’s funniest import since EXTRAS. Plus, what we’d give to see an acceptance speech from Mr. G. *theTVaddict.com does not guarantee his “winning picks.” Do not, I repeat, Do not bet the house, kids or family pet on them!
Emmy Predictions 2009: Outstanding Actress in a Drama
2009-09-19 16:24:00
In anticipation of Sunday’s EMMY Awards airing on CBS at 8PM, theTVaddict.com is proud [or not-so-proud depending on how things turn out] to once again present our GUARANTEED EMMY WINNERS 2009* SHOULD WIN: GLENN CLOSE In a category filled with ridiculously strong female character, Close’s powerful and brilliant stop-at-nothing attorney Patty Hewes stands a cut above. WILL WIN: GLENN CLOSE Plus, it doesn’t hurt that Close and critical acclaim practically go hand in hand (See: Five Oscars nods and eleven Emmy nods) SNUBBED: MARY MCDONNELL A president of the colonies who actually delivered on her campaign promise by leading her people to safe haven. Now that’s change we can believe in. *theTVaddict.com does not guarantee his “winning picks.” Do not, I repeat, Do not bet the house, kids or family pet on them!
Big Ten Previews and Predictions: Week 3
2009-09-19 05:46:00
Last week, the Big Ten posted a 8-3 record including a marquee win for then unranked Michigan, who knocked off No. 18 Notre Dame in thrilling fashion in the Big House. I did slightly worse picking, going 7-4 missing the Buckeyes heartbreaking loss to USC,  Michigan State's meltdown against Central Michigan, Minnesota's come from behind victory over Air Force, and Indiana's win over Western Michigan. This week the Big Ten once again has a few marquee games on tap. Minnesota will host No. 8 Cal, the Spartans travel to South Bend to take on the Irish and Iowa will host Pac-10 foe Arizona for a "Black-Out" at Kinnick. On to this weeks previews and picks......
Friday Night "Mights": Redskins vs Rams - My Bold Predictions
2009-09-18 20:30:00
More photos » by Phil Coale - AP This is the week Brian Orakpo makes it onto Sportscenter. Browse more photos » I got a bit harassed after last Friday's edition of  the "Mights". First of all, I was 0-5. Secondly, some of my predictions were simply not bold enough by my own standards as well as those of some of our most ardent commenters (TheOverLordMarshl). As much as I hate being wrong, I hate being anything less than bold even more. Please note: the "Mights" pre-suppose victory and indicate those things which would either likely or hopefully occur if and when the Redskins are operating on all cylinders against their opponent on any given Sunday. 1) Jason Campbell: 300+ yards, 3+ touchdowns - This pick is officially NOT based on any indication or predicton of JC's skills. I firmly believe the entire coaching staff/organization is ...
Emmy Predictions 2009: Outstanding Actor in a Drama
2009-09-18 01:40:00
In anticipation of Sunday’s EMMY Awards airing on CBS at 8PM, theTVaddict.com is proud [or not-so-proud depending on how things turn out] to once again present our GUARANTEED EMMY WINNERS 2009* SHOULD WIN: HUGH LAURIE After single-handedly creating the brilliant but cantankerous doctor/lawyer/cop genre you’d think an Emmy would be a given, right? Well, after three nominations, Laurie has yet to go home a winner. No wonder he’s so angry. WILL WIN: JON HAMM Since the Emmy Awards for ‘Best Hair’ were already given out at the Kathy Griffin hosted Schmemmys last week, we predict with apologies in advance to Simon Baker that Hamm walks away a winner. Women love him, men want to be him and we have a feeling that yeah, Hollywood hearts Hamm. SNUBBED: EDWARD JAMES OLMOS So say we all. *theTVaddict.com does not guarantee his “winning picks.” Do not, I repeat, Do not bet the house, kids or family pet on them!
Emmy predictions: Who should get kanye'd?

Yeah, we’re surprised as anyone. *theTVaddict.com does not guarantee his “winning picks.” Do not, I repeat, Do not bet the house, kids or family pet on them!
Emmy Predictions 2009: Outstanding Actor in a Comedy
2009-09-16 14:01:00
In anticipation of Sunday’s EMMY Awards airing on CBS at 8PM, theTVaddict.com is proud [or not-so-proud depending on how things turn out] to once again present our GUARANTEED EMMY WINNERS 2009* SHOULD WIN: ANYBODY… … but Tony Shalhoub. For the love of God, enough is enough! WILL WIN: JIM PARSONS Not only is Parsons universally recognized as one of the nicest actors in Hollywood, you try reciting the rules to Rock-Paper-Scissors-Lizard-Spoc-k without laughing. We promise you, it can’t be done. We’ve tried. SNUBBED: ZACHARY LEVI Adorably nerdy, funny to boot, plus he knows kung fu! What’s not to love? *theTVaddict.com does not guarantee his “winning picks.” Do not, I repeat, Do not bet the house, kids or family pet on them!
Emmy Predictions 2009: Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Drama
2009-09-16 00:26:00
In anticipation of Sunday’s EMMY Awards airing on CBS at 8PM, theTVaddict.com is proud [or not-so-proud depending on how things turn out] to once again present our GUARANTEED EMMY WINNERS 2009* SHOULD WIN: ANYBODY… … but Chandra Wilson, whose bi-weekly meltdowns stopped pulling at our heartstrings two seasons ago. WILL WIN: CHANDRA WILSON As nothing attract that little gold statue like a tearful bi-weekly meltdown from a single working mom. SNUBBED: ELIZABETH MITCHELL Just because we kinda think she’s awesome. *theTVaddict.com does not guarantee his “winning picks.” Do not, I repeat, Do not bet the house, kids or family pet on them!
Emmy Predictions 2009: Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Drama
2009-09-15 17:52:00
In anticipation of Sunday’s EMMY Awards airing on CBS at 8PM, theTVaddict.com is proud [or not-so-proud depending on how things turn out] to once again present our GUARANTEED EMMY WINNERS 2009* SHOULD WIN: MICHAEL EMERSON Whose morally ambiguous Benjamin Linus will go down in history as one of the small screen’s most entertaining (and devious) antiheroes. WILL WIN: JOHN SLATTERY Sadly, we have a feeling that Slattery’s suave and stylish Roger Sterling (Who recently left his wife for a woman half is age) is seen as quite the aspirational figure in Hollywood circles. SNUBBED: MICHAEL HOGAN On a ship full of Emmy-worthy candidates, Hogan’s frakktastic portrayal of Saul Tigh stands out. So much so that we shudder to think what he could have done with two eyes! *theTVaddict.com does not guarantee his “winning picks.” Do not, I repeat, Do not bet the house, kids or family pet on them!
Emmy Predictions 2009: Outstanding Supporting Actress in a Comedy
2009-09-14 22:45:00
In anticipation of Sunday’s EMMY Awards airing on CBS at 8PM, theTVaddict.com is proud [or not-so-proud depending on how things turn out] to once again present our GUARANTEED EMMY WINNERS 2009* SHOULD WIN: AMY POEHLER For doing the one thing that throwing millions of dollars at countless political strategist couldn’t, make Hilary Clinton seem relatable, likable and funny. WILL WIN: AMY POEHLER You saw this, right? SNUBBED: WANDA SYKES For her under-appreciated work on the equally under-appreciated NEW ADVENTURES OF OLD CHRISTINE. *theTVaddict.com does not guarantee his “winning picks.” Do not, I repeat, Do not bet the house, kids or family pet on them!
Emmy Predictions 2009: Outstanding Supporting Actor in a Comedy
2009-09-14 19:02:00
In anticipation of Sunday’s EMMY Awards airing on CBS at 8PM, theTVaddict.com is proud [or not-so-proud depending on how things turn out] to once again present our GUARANTEED EMMY WINNERS 2009* SHOULD WIN: NEIL PATRICK HARRIS And not just because it will make for one helluva awkward Emmy ceremony should its host lose early! WILL WIN: NEIL PATRICK HARRIS He hosts! He sings! He acts! But, putting aside his legendary work ethic, NPH gets our vote for consistently doing what very few people seem to be able to do these days: Make us laugh each and every week on HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER SNUBBED: UGLY BETTY’s MICHAEL URIE For injecting ridiculous levels of heart into what very easily could be one giant ugly cliche *theTVaddict.com does not guarantee his “winning picks.” Do not, I repeat, Do not bet the house, kids or family pet on them!
Rumors and Predictions for the Apple music event ‘09
2009-09-03 12:20:00
Two days ago Apple announced a 'Rock and Roll' themed music event that shall be held on September 9th. Though the agenda for the event is still a secret to many, we can clearly make a guess that it will focus on the music-side of Apple, that being mainly some new announcements regarding the iPods. But then again! since its Apple here we are talking about, most of everything that we know and speculate about is composed of nothing but wild guesses. Here we have compiled a list of rumors and predictions for the event, mostly related to the announcements. iPods with Camera Personally! we have no doubts on this one. There is enough evidence to confirm that Apple has plans to update the iPod Touch and Nano with support for a camera, which will add as a supplement to its already brilliant media features. 90% stakes on this. iPod Touch 3rd Generation The iPod Touch has been under the spotlight since its release and we believe it is, by far, the most complete media device ever offered t...
UFC 103 Thoughts and Predictions
2009-08-28 14:01:00
Tomorrow nights UFC 103 event is exciting overall, Randy Couture is a good draw, but like most long-time fight fans I wish I saw it about 5 years ago when both fighters were actually in their prime.  None the less, I am rooting for Randy 'The Natural' Couture (16-9-0) to beat Antonio Rodrigo 'Minotauro' Nogueira (31-5-1) this Saturday night.  ...
Jay Cutler 2009 Predictions
2009-08-26 14:59:00
I assembled a team of bloggers, rallied them from a slumber in their mom's basements and got them to offer up some predictions on Jay Cutler's first season as a Bear. I asked for a few things: yards, TDs, INTs and wins. They may have had to run the DVR on "Golden Girls" instead of watch it live, but they came up with some good predictions. Do you have predictions on Cutler's season? Add them in the comments....
Chicago Cubs Second Half Predictions
2009-07-07 18:37:00
"I can tell you one thing: we're gonna need a lot more cocktails!" The second half of the season is upon us. LOHO appears to have survived intact, though Carl will be out with a flashlight and search party to bring in the rest of the stragglers. Doc, it's time to end the hunger strike. Gravedigger, come in off the ledge. Flyball, more coffee is not the answer to this season. Abe, dust off the standings flags with the Cubs at the top. Get out your "W" flags, prepare your bragging rights, and flip it up, spin it around, and strap it down (or whatever)! I've got a good feeling about the way things are headed. It's time to think...

UpFront 2009 Predictions: FOX Edition
2009-05-15 15:40:00
It’s May, which in case you didn’t know in TV land is kind of a big deal. Not only does it signify the end of the official television season, with the big five networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX and the CW) beginning to roll out their big finales (see: our May 2009 calendar.) It also just so happens to be the start of something new. With next week marking the official start of the 2009 UpFronts where ABC, CBS, FOX, CW and NBC will unveil their fall schedule to advertisers at their annual UpFront Presentation. But before they do, theTVAddict.com editorial team, led by our very own Ken-Tucker-in-training Aleks Chan will be posting our wish list for what we’d like to see announced. AMERICAN IDOL, so much more than a reality TV juggernaut. As evidence by FOX’s continued success in using their unstoppable ratings behemoth to help launch successful freshman series such as FRINGE and LIE TO ME. Also, falling under good news for the network this season was 24’s Jack Bauer-like...
UpFront 2009 Predictions: CBS Edition
2009-05-13 16:09:00
It’s May, which in case you didn’t know in TV land is kind of a bid deal. Steady as she goes over at CBS, with its procedurals continuing to dominate in a crowded field (see: the season’s only bonafide hit THE MENTALIST) and its Monday night comedy lineup, led by THE BIG BANG THEORY, showing some serious strength against very stiff competition. CBS may not draw a lot of ey...
UpFront 2009 Predictions: ABC Edition

It’s May, which in case you didn’t know in TV land is kind of a bid deal. Thanks to established performers such as DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES, GREY’S ANATOMY and LOST, not to mention the reality TV juggernaut that is DANCING WITH THE STARS, the Alphabet network managed to weather the storm that was the tumultuous season following the WGA strike fairly well. Especially considerin...
UpFront 2009 Predictions: NBC Edition
2009-05-01 16:34:00
It’s May, which in case you didn’t know in TV land is kind of a bid deal. Not only does it signify the end of the official television season, with the big five networks (ABC, NBC, CBS, FOX and the CW) beginning to roll out their big finales (check back Monday for our May 2009 downloadable calendar.) It also just so happens to be the start of something new. With Monday marking the first of the 2009 UpFronts as NBC unveils their fall schedule to advertisers at their annual UpFront Presentation (or as the Peacock network likes to call it, their InFront Presentation. Yeah, they’re just wacky that way!) But before they do, theTVAddict.com editorial team, led by our very own Ken-Tucker-in-training Aleks Chan will be posting our wish list for what we’d like to see announced. MLB Playoff and Award Predictions
2009-04-03 20:49:00
AMERICAN LEAGUEAL MVP: Evan Longoria, Tampa Bay Rays (The 2008 AL Rookie of the year should expand big time on his 27 hr, 85 RBI rookie campaign in his first full season in the bigs' and once again lead the Rays' to success in '09)AL CY YOUNG: Francisco Liriano, Minnesota Twins (Liriano returned to dominance in the second half of '08 after getting back on track in the minors and will probably sport a sub-3 era and win 18+ games if healthy for 32 starts this season.)ROOKIE OF THE YEAR: Matt Wieters, Baltimore Orioles (Wieters will start off in AAA, but will be up a few weeks into the season, like Longoria did in '08. He probably will put up similar numbers to what Longoria did, but probably hit for a better average. Keep an eye on Tampa's David Price for this award as well.)MANAGER OF THE YEAR: Ron Gardenhire, Minnesota Twins (The Twins never have quite the same talent as some of the other teams in the league, but Gardy always has them winning. He should get his first M.O.Y. aw...

2009 Giants Preview and Predictions
2009-03-11 23:49:00
I wanted to break away from the spring training jargon for a bit and I wanted to go ahead and do more of an in-depth preview of what the Giants will look like come opening day. I also am going to predict some of the key stats for the players. With our annual MLB team/divisional preview just around the corner, and opening day less than a month away, now is as good a time as any to take a closer look at the San Francisco Giants. Some of the final roster moves aren't set yet (as there still is 3 weeks of Cactus league to go still) but I'm going to go with my best guess.Lineup:1. RF- Randy Winn ( .288 avg., 11 hr's, 57 RBI, 89 runs, 21 sb's, .776 OPS)2. SS- Edgar Renteria (.282, 12 hr, 64 RBI, 79 runs, 9 sb's, .759 OPS)3. Arnold Classic 2009: Predictions
2009-03-04 06:39:00
Wilkerson's Predictions continured
2009-02-03 15:34:00
David Wilkerson wrote 'Set the Trumpet to Thy Mouth' in 1985. The first paragraph of chapter one reads thus. America is going to be destroyed by fire! Sudden destruction is coming and few will escape. Unexpectedly, and in one hour, a hydrogen holocaust will engulf America -- and this nation will be no more. It is because America has sinned against the greatest light. Other nations are just as sinful, but none are as flooded with gospel light as ours. God is going to judge America for its violence, its crimes, its backsliding, its murdering of millions of babies, its flaunting of homosexuality and sadomasochism, its corruption, its drunkenness and drug abuse, its form of godliness without power, its lukewarmness toward Christ, its rampant divorce and adultery, its lewd pornography, its child molestations, its cheating, its robbing, its dirty movies, and its occult practices. In one hour it will all be over. To the natural mind it is insanity to come against a prosperous, p...

What Are You Wearing for the Super Bowl (and Predictions)
2009-01-30 15:15:00
I contacted some of my favorite Pittsburgh Steelers bloggers* and asked them what they are wearing for the Super Bowl. Then I realized that the question sounded a little inappropriate at best and creepy at worst, so I rephrased the question to this: Is there something that you will wear or have near you, not including a Terrible Towel which is a given, on Sunday? This question was especially geared for the superstitious folks out there like me. There was also an option to submit predictions about the game and a final score.Tecmo of PSAMP:I'm gross. I have three pairs of Steelers socks. I wore a pair for the San Diego game, then took 'em off right after we were done, knowing I'd need 'em, unwashed, again. I wore the same pair for the Baltimore game, and immediately took them off once we won. They're still not washed, but I've only worn them during game-time, and I'll do the same Sunday. This is in addition to my Hines Ward jersey and two Bettis Foundation wristbands. And my ...

As the Algo Turns- 7 Predictions for Search Engine Marketing in 2009
2009-01-15 17:40:00
Did you ever wonder what the Google algorithm looks like and why it keeps changing?  When Google emerged in late 1997, it entered a market that was fully saturated by steep competition; the likes of which included Altavista, HotBot, Excite, Infoseek, Lycos and others. However, while all jockeyed for position, Google was able to take the biggest bite of market share! And they accomplished that feat in less than a decade.  Its success was based on developing an algorithm formula that continuously customizes search engine page results (SERPS) in accordance with the behavioral patterns of you and I, the users! In essence, WE are the reason the Algo turns!

eMarketer's Predictions for 2009
2008-12-16 22:22:00
Here is what eMarketer's predictions are for 2009. I think they are too optimistic. I would be surprised if the overall online advertising growth rates exceed 6%. I think estimates on video ads, display ads are both optimistic. The optimistic me thinks search is the only online advertising channel that will show double digit growth. Here is the eMarketer article: http://www.emarketer.com/Articl-e.aspx?id=1006813 eMarketer's Predictions for 2009 DECEMBER 16, 2008 What lies ahead in the new year? David Hallerman, Senior Analyst Online Ad Spending: Still Solid Choice Video ad spending will run counter to overall economic developments, rising by 45% in 2009 to reach $850 million. Two key factors support this trend. First, the sharp escalation of professional video content on the Web—mainly from TV networks—is creating a viable base for brand marketers. Second, even though most advertisers are increasingly cautious with their budgets, they still need to reach online a...
