2008-11-18 14:15:00
Some one suggested me that we should always use PT fuse for a 415/110V PT on 415V side,as it is not advisable to use an MCB on the primary side of any LT PT.if So why??

Carol Schwartz launches D.C. Council write-in after at-large primary loss
2008-09-15 23:31:00
D.C. Council at-large member Carol Schwartz launched a write-in campaign to retain her at-large seat after last week's Republican primary loss. Schwartz was defeated by Mara in the closed-party GOP race, after Mara convinced Republicans that Schwartz had strayed too far from Republican orthodoxy to keep the seat.In her write-in announcement, Schwartz blamed her primary loss on low turnout and Mara's solicitation of collegiate Republicans who were supposedly not invested in the city like older viewers. Left unmentioned was the bizarre inflation of vote counts during election night in her race and the Ward 2 contest. While Schwartz's viewpoints on health care and gay rights are more favorable to the city as a whole, her dismissal of college-age voters comes off as borderline offensive. As a write-in candidate, Schwartz will get to compete against Mara again for one of two at-large seats but this time on more favorable terms with voters not restricted in the general election by part...

Saturday Stew: Primary Fatigue
2008-06-07 14:03:00
Saturday Stew is a weekend open thread for readers to sound off on the latest political news. This week in the stew we're talking about the impact of the long Democratic race that has finally drawn to a conclusion.Barack Obama clinched the Democratic nomination Tuesday, exactly five months after the primary season began in Iowa. Hillary Clinton didn't concede Tuesday evening, but is preparing to endorse Obama today in Washington, concluding one of the longest and most intriguing primaries in American political history. In what ways has the long primary race helped the Democratic Party and it's nominee? In what ways has the race hurt the Democratic Party and it's nominee?Ultimately, has the process been beneficial or detrimental for Democrats? In what ways would you like to see the primary process changed in the future? Were you satisfied with the Florida-Michigan ruling?Which Democrat, Obama or Clinton, would be the strongest nominee?Which candidate, Obama or McCain, is better pos...
Rascal Flatts Writes A Song for Barack Obama to Hillary Clinton

MSNBC Had Best Coverage of the Primary Campaigns
2008-06-06 00:08:00
This is not a statistical analysis, but the impressions of one viewer - me - who happens to be a Professor of Communication and Media Studies at Fordham University in New York City, and author of a whole bunch of books about the media.I'm thinking MSNBC had far and away the best coverage of the primary campaigns - far better than its CNN and Fox competition. Here's why:1. Tom Brokaw, Brian Williams, and Tim Russert commenting on the nights when the votes are counted: No other cable station or network has that kind of fire power - the current network news anchor (Williams), the previous network news anchor (Brokaw), and, just for good measure the host of Meet the Press (Russert). CNN and Fox have no parent network such as NBC to draw upon.2. The coverage of MSNBC during the day is top-notch, even extraordinary. Andrea Mitchell interviews movers and shakers whenever she is on, which is often. (Her interview with Manhattan Congressman Charlie Rangel yesterday broke new ground in ...
CNN Cops Tuesday's Primary Ratings Crown

Lisa de Moraes Wash Post: CNN clocked more than 3.5 million viewers in prime time. That's a 34 percent lead over MSNBC's more than 2.5 million viewers. It's also a 47 percent advantage over Fox News Channel's prime-time crowd of 2.4 million viewers.Yes, it appears MSNBC edged out FNC in prime time Tuesday. "Many journalists despise TV news. They hate watching it, they hate producing it, and, given the opportunity, they turn it off and ignore it." California professor Tee Vee news students' cable TV smackdown: "...the titillation - fear-mongering crime reports, salacious coverage of the entertainment industries, reporters and anchor people glammed up to look like models. And when TV reports covered more serious issues, including politics, they result as little more than propaganda - talking points served up from two sides, with no analysis testing the claims, beyond petty insults. The broadcast majors among them expressed their revulsion at moving into an industry where "good te...

A Primary Wrap-Up
2008-06-04 16:52:00
I didn?t see or hear any of the candidate speeches last night (that?s about the time when ?family life? intrudes), but Michael Cohen of Democracy Arsenal did here, so I?ll turn it over to him?As a student of campaign rhetoric and the author of an upcoming book on the subject tonight presented a true cornucopia of campaign oratory - and the contrast between the three speakers was fascinating.First John McCain: There really is no nice way to describe this speech. Forget the content for a second; McCain is quite simply an awful public speaker. I've never seen a politician in my life who is so clearly "reading" a speech than McCain. When he smiles; I cringe. There is no passion and little inspiration behind his words - when he speaks one gets the impression that he is seeing his speech for the first time. And from a presentation standpoint, whose idea was it to have a green backdrop with about 200 supporters in the room? I know that public rallies in of themselves do not portend politi...

Barack Obama: With Primary Season Finally Over, Here's What The Democratic
2008-06-04 09:42:00
Candidate must choose running mate, begin wooing Clinton supporters and independent voters.By Gil Kaufman Barack Obama Photo: Chip Somodevilla/Getty Images He weathered the longest primary season ever and made history by securing the Democratic Party's presidential nomination Tuesday night, but Senator Barack Obama's work is just beginning. Though he was able to beat rival Senator Hillary Clinton in a pitched battle that made for one of the closest, most widely followed primaries in a generation, Obama must now turn his attention to mending fences with Clinton, while wooing the tens of millions of voters who typically don't start paying attention until the general election. Dave Beattie, a Democratic political consultant who has not worked with either candidate this campaign season, said Obama's top priority should be having a frank, one-on-one conversation with Clinton. "Rather than innuendo, he needs to figure out what she wants, and he needs her to say, 'I support...

2008-06-04 06:46:00
So, I’ve already analyzed Obama’s speech which was given shortly after Clinton’s following speech.  She had been expected to suspend her campaign and acknowledge that Obama had reached the “magic number,” but not actually concede, but she didn’t even do that.  She just said, “I’ll talk it over and decide later” essentially.  Here’s the speech: Thank you. Thank you so much. ...
Barack Obama Wins Democratic Nomination
2008-06-04 06:00:00
After a long and hard fought Democratic contest, Senator Barack Obama became the victor after securing the 2,118 delegates required to be nominated.Obama rolled out almost three dozen superdelegates before the South Dakota and Montana primaries, eventually clinching the nomination as the results of the South Dakota primary trickled in. Clinton did not endorse Obama tonight, but all signs point to a possible endorsement tomorrow or in the coming days.Clinton won the South Dakota primary, home state of prominent Obama supporter and former Majority Leader, Tom Daschle. Obama won the Montana primary.Obama is now the first African-American to be nominated by a major party, exactly 200 years after the end of the slave trade (1808).Now, we look to November...

Manchin Figures in SuperDelegate Mix as Dems End Primary Season
2008-06-03 14:27:00
Gov. Joe Manchin remains one of three West Virginia "super" or unelected delegates uncommitted to either Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama, The Associated Press reports. He's also chair of the Democratic Governors Association, and so is poised to play a role in the Democrats' efforts to solidify their support after today's primaries in South Dakota and Montana, AP also reports."Officials said that if Obama failed to gain 2,118 delegates by tonight, one possibility under discussion was to have key leaders to issue a statement Wednesday urging superdelegates to state their preferences as soon as possible," that article said. "The leaders suggested were Sen. Harry Reid, the majority leader; Speaker Nancy Pelosi;" and Manchin.AP's count found that "Obama was 41.5 delegates shy of the 2,118, needed to clinch the nomination at the party's convention in Denver," while Clinton had 1917.5.AP also has a separate report on the task that awaits Manchin and other DGA members: "Eleven of the na...

California June Primary - What's at Stake for the GLBT Community
2008-06-03 00:10:00
California's June 3rd Primary has more at stake than many people realize. This election will determine if we will continue to have a Legislature that passes laws supporting equal rights for the GLBT community. In this election season California will be losing 20 pro gay marriage votes in the Legislature due to term limits. Some of those retiring lawmakers are our best GLBT supporters. That is
