Brewers slugger Prince Fielder now eating a Field of Greens as a vegetarian
2008-03-08 05:01:00
Prince Fielder ate nearly half a bagel in a single bite. It was an impressive display in quick consumption by the 270-pound slugger who was snacking before going out to practice in the Arizona sunshine. After all, he’s still consuming a lot of calories even though he’s no longer eating meat. The 23-year-old All-Star has ...
To Jon Papelbon, Cole Hamels and Prince Fielder, Shut the F*** Up!
2008-03-07 07:35:00
To Jonathan Papelbon, Cole Hamels, Prince Fielder, This game, the game of baseball, is bigger than you are (yes, even you, Prince). Yes, you are among the best at each of your respective positions and you all have great careers ahead of you, but guess what? There have been thousands of players just like ...

2008-03-03 00:59:00
Prince Fielder is frustrated about his contract. The Milwaukee Brewers slugger renewed his deal for $670,000 on Sunday after finishing third in NL MVP voting last season. “I’m not happy about it at all,” Fielder said. “The fact I’ve had to be renewed two years in a row, I’m not happy about it because there’s ...

Chicks Dig The Long Ball
2007-10-17 17:09:00
Chicks Dig The Long Ball   Who’s got the biggest balls of them all? Find out.   If chicks dig the long ball, then Prince Fielder is feeling a lot of love after his 2007 season. Fielder won the Golden Sledgehammer Award from Hittrackeronline.com, a site that monitors every home run hit in the major leagues, for having the highest average standard distance per home run this season, 408 feet. The site defines standard distance as factoring “out the influence of wind, temperature and altitude, and is thus the best way of comparing home runs hit under a variety of different conditions.” A surprise entry on this list is Vernon Wells, who played through a shoulder ailment the entire season. He managed to knock one 464 feet.   Player,  team Pitcher    Site    Date 476 feet Chris Young,  Ariz.  D. Wells,    Phoenix  Sept. 22 470 feet Mark Teixeira,  Atl.  C. The Scoop on the Fielder Kerfuffle
2007-10-14 17:50:00
The Scoop on the Fielder Kerfuffle     It’s your intrepid baseball-gossip reporter, Mr. X, back for more baseball dirt. I have learned through my sleuths the reason that young phenom Prince Fielder, hates his big Daddy Cecil, and vice-versa. The hostility Milwaukee Brewer Prince Fielder has for his father, Cecil, is so pronounced he took the occasion of his hitting 50 home runs earlier this season to say he was motivated to reach levels his father did not. What should have been a purely celebratory moment for the youngest player in major-league history to hit 50 homers instead was a reminder of a chilly, dysfunctional relationship between a son and father, one a current star in baseball and the other a former star in baseball. In an interview to air Tuesday night on ESPN, Cecil Fielder tells reporter Jeremy Schaap what caused his relationship with his son to sour to a point where they don’t speak and Cecil has vowed never to attend any of his son’s games. Princ...
Seasons in Review: First Base (Top 3)
2007-10-08 01:46:00
Yesterday subjected me to far too much emotion in one sports day. In the early evening, my Cubs were getting swept by an extremely flawed Arizona team, and looked pathetic in the process. By midnight, I was screaming my ears off in the front row of the Mizzou student section, watching my Tigers rout rival Nebraska on ESPN, in one of the biggest games in school history. My heart was torn — am I happy or sad? A day later, I’m pondering the Cubs’ loss while seeing Mizzou being ranked 11th in the country, I still don’t know. What am I to make of all this? Anyway, I’m going to start a new series here called “seasons in review.” While the recent campaigns are still fresh in my mind, I figure it will be useful to recount them in preparation for the 2008 draft kit. I’ll start with the top three first basemen of 2007, based on their year-end ESPN ranking. 1. Prince Fielder, MIL .288, 50 HR, 119 RBI, 109 R, 2 SB Pre-season Rank: #11 There wasn...

Prince Fielder hit his National League-leading 40th home run of the season, Ryan Braun had three hits including a homer and the Milwaukee Brewers completed a three-game sweep of the Pittsburgh Pirates with a 7-4 victory on Sunday. Prince Fielder?s 39th homer helps Milwaukee shut down Arizona 9-0 (AP)

Prince Fielder homered for the second straight day and the Milwaukee Brewers beat the Arizona Diamondbacks 9-0 Monday night to move into a tie for the NL Central lead. It?s Time for Prince Fielder to Forgive Cecil Fielder, His Father
2007-07-10 22:16:00
Milwaukee Brewers star first baseman Prince Fielder, 23, will start in the All-Star game tonight, and is leading the National League in homeruns. There are inevitable comparisons between Prince Fielder and his father Cecil (both pictured), who led the majors in RBI three seasons in a row for the Detroit Tigers during the 1990s. Both ...
TSF's 2007 MLB Midseason Awards
2007-07-09 02:29:00
Here are my midseason awards. I reserve the right to change these by the end of the season. MVP AL: Alex Rodriguez - NYYMagglio Ordonez is the next best choice but it should be a no-brainer. Without Arod the Yankees would be utterly pathetic. He had arguably the best April in baseball history and has driven in about 20% of the Yankees' runs.NL: Prince Fielder - MILI might be a Brewers fan and I might be a homer but I think Fielder makes a great case for NL MVP thus far. The Brewers are winning and he's carrying them and holding them up in first place. Matt Holliday is a guy a lot of other bloggers might go with but I think because of what the Brewers have done in comparison to the Rockies I gotta go with Prince. PS -can't wait to get me one of theseROOKIE OF THE YEAR AL: Daisuke Matsuzaka - BOS Doesn't seem fair that he is so much older and experienced than other rookies but he meets the definition of rookie by the rulebook and therefore he has definitely been the AL ROY thus fa...
My World in Sports: Go Get Your Bulls Jersey
2007-06-20 07:38:00
The Kobe Video I'm sure you've all heard about this video by now. I can't find on on the Internet otherwise I'd have it up on here but I've heard alot about it and Stefan found a sports talk show that features the audio. The video hasn't been released yet but click here to hear the audio. - You can fast forward through some of the banter to get to it- Kobe is pretty explicit in trashing teammate Andrew Bynum. Also he grabs quite a few headlines in saying "Go out and buy you Bulls jerseys". This is pretty interesting obviously there is just no way anymore that Kobe Returns to the Lakers. By now all his teammates hate him (most probably did before anyways). Kobe's no trade clause basically gives him complete and total power. Obviously getting Kobe would be absolutely huge for the Bulls. Honestly is there anyway that LA could possibly win on a trade like that? Bulls maybe they could get Butler, Wallace and Deng with a draftpick or some combination of that for Kobe. That would be...
Take Your Pick: Who Can a Fan Like Me Start to Root For?
2007-06-18 08:08:00
So, Barry Bonds hit his 748th career homer putting him 7 shy of Hank Aaron for what is probably the most heralded record in all of sports. I hate Barry Bonds and if you are a repeat reader you probably know that already. Anyways, I am starting to come to the realization that this is probably going to happen and instead of killing myself when it does I decided that I need a guy to root for. I need to find the next player who is going to beat Barry's steroid-injected ass (pun intended) in the HR standings. So take your pick and help me figure out who is the going to be the best guy to take the record away from Barry.Personally Arod is my guy. You have Arod at 492 having hit his 27th HR of the season tonight against the Mets. Arod currently ranks 24th all-time but in my opinion probably has the best foreseeable chance to surpass Bonds of all current players. He is 32 years-old right now and if you disregard this year's 27 HRs he needs 8 seasons with a rough average of 36 dingers a se...
Prince Fielder Hits 18th HR, Four shutouts in NL

Baseball Notebook Baseball Daily Digest American League Twins 7 White Sox 6 Torii Hunter ended an exciting game with a walkoff walk in the bottom of the ninth inning as the Twins recovered from a 6-1 deficit to record a 7-6 win defeating the White Sox who have lost four in a row. With the win
How Good Really Are My Brewers?
2007-05-07 15:26:00
So incase you didn't know the Brewers...yes MY LOWLY BREWERS have the best record in the NL. With a record of 21-10 and having won 12 of their last 15 the Brewers are indeed red hot. They've got a 5 game lead on the 2nd place Cubs right now and 8 games on the lowly Cardinals (haha I love it!). But to the average baseball fan who isn't also a Brewers fan like me, how good really are the Brewers? Are they for real or are they in for a plummit? I'm going to try to figure this out as unbiased as I possibly can...GO BREWERS!!!!!!!Ok, so yea the Brewers have a great record but it could be a fluke right? In my full and honest opinion, no it isn't. This is the Brewers' year. They've been progressively improving over the last 4 seasons and with no injuries and every offseason move strongly bettering the team they're ready. I mean sure they're going to falter. Every team will have a losing streak at some point when you play 162 games. But this team is leagues better than they have be...
