However, the court ordered Puteri Lamia Roro Wiranata, 21, and Puteri Fathia Reza, 23, to stand trial on a remaining charge that they stayed in Sarawak state's Miri town without the required stamps in their passports. If convicted they face up to two years in jail.Malaysian immigration authorities arrested the two women in a buffer zone between the sultanate of Brunei and the Malaysian state of Sarawak on July 16. The women, who are in detention, claimed that they had been living "in exile" in Switzerland and Germany, and that they were visiting Southeast Asia using passports "issued by the Sunda Democratic Empire," Shankar said. Andy (the 3-year-old) decided that he really wanted to dress up like a rock star, so we gave him a faux-hawk and a toy guitar and let him enjoy his innocent, Guitar Hero II-based images of rock stardom. Mags (the 2-year-old) is too little to express much aside from a desire to follow his brother's lead, so we got out the navy blue short-suit and tie and amused ourselves by dressing him up like Angus Young. (Yes, the guitarist from AC/DC.) I figured it's probably the last year that I'll be able to impose my Halloween will on his costume choices, and might give me some cool Mom street cred when he's a teenager. I'm not holding my breath though. Gigi (the newborn) was supposed to be a ghost, but she evidently disliked her ghost pajamas and expressed her displeasure by rendering them unwearable. We're lucky if Ariel's there; we're even luckier if Jasmine's remembered.But what about Mulan or Pocahontas or Anastasia. Heck, there's Megara and even Nala! Yes, I'm ranting and I'm well aware that these four princesses on the picture are the original Disney Princesses.My favorite Disney movies are Mulan, Pocahontas, The Lion King and Hercules. It's mostly the story plus the different approach to the artwork that drew me in. The other Disney Princesses movies all have the same plot: a girl meeting her prince charming. Then in the 50s and 60s, they got sidetracked by exploiting passive busty blonde princesses. The newer crop that began in the 80s was an attempt to do better. Ariel was less passive, but still a busty rebellious teenager who fell for the first pretty face she saw. Belle was a great improvement: heroic, loyal, and she read books too! Jasmine was an attempt to integrate the Princesses, but the movie Aladdin was still full of racial stereotypes, as was Pocahontas. Disney has a hard time getting a clue. Their best effort was Mulan, who was not white, not passive, and not at all boy-crazy. The trouble is, she wasn’t a princess, either.
