2008-05-17 13:16:00 Amisha Patel recently opted out of Priyadarshan’s latest film, Billo Barber which she had signed with much fanfare as she felt the size of the role wasn’t befitting her talent. The Shah Rukh Khan-Irrfan Khan starrer is a remake of the Malayalam film, Katha Parayumbol and revolves around a humble village Barber (Irrfan) and his superstar friend (SRK). Amisha was to play the barber’s wife. She felt that the film’s focus was the friendship between SRK and Irrfan’s characters. The latest rumour doing the rounds is that it was because of Aditya Chopra’s friendly advice that she backed out of the film.Apparently, Aditya is a friend, philosopher and guide. She has also signed a three-film deal with Yash Raj Films so they want to make sure her career moves are just right and should not affect their future projects with her. Here is a review from NY Times written by Stephen Holden. Even by the extravagant standards of Bollywood movies, “Bhool Bhulaiya,” a lavish comic epic about psychiatry, mythology and spiritualism, has a lot of plot. Its star, Akshay Kumar, doesn’t appear until about a third of the way into the film. The moment he does, “Bhool Bhulaiya” morphs from an opulent romantic ghost story into a slapstick farce as Mr. Kumar’s character, Aditya, a psychiatrist summoned to a haunted palace to examine one character’s suspicious behavior, mugs and clowns and acts crazier than anyone else. From there the movie becomes a sumptuous quasihorror film about demonic possession and exorcism.

It would be interesting to see how the viewer reacts to the film.But there's a flip side too! Those expecting a laughathon from the Priyan - Akki combo would be caught unaware. Two factors that can't be ignored are its length [it tends to get taxing in the second hour] and the placement of the chartbusting track 'Hare Krishna Hare Ram' [in the end credits].You can't overlook the fact that BHOOL BHULAIYAA is an extremely well-shot film. Right from the production design to the styling of the film to its overall look, BHOOL BHULAIYAA is a visually attractive film.
