Aspose.Words - the engine of choice for online word processors?
2008-05-02 20:09:00
There is a number of great products already out there built by great companies and great people that incorporate Aspose.Words for their document processing needs. But I find it especially rewarding when Aspose.Words is used to build a word processing application, especially an online word processor! We've mentioned earlier and got mentioned that the Buzzword team chose Aspose.Words for .NET to use as an engine for loading and saving documents in various formats. We keep working hard to make sure they are happy with Aspose.Words. Our upcoming release will include OpenDocument format (ODF) export that we've promised to Buzzword. This trend seems to continue and we were happy to learn that Zoho Writer  uses Aspose.Words for Java for loading and saving to some of the document formats they support. Thank you all for your continuous interest and trust in Aspose.Words.

Online Payment Processors
2008-04-27 05:42:00
What online payment processor are you using? Let me guess. Since most of my readers are bloggers too and earning extra on paid blogging, the likely payment processor you use is Paypal. Right.I dabbled in online marketing before I stumbled into the joy of blogging. I was into almost all conceivable racket known to internet marketing. Sadly, all ventures failed. But that's another story. When I started in online-money-making schemes, the only payment processor available for me was Stormpay. Paypal only became accessible in the Philippines in the last year or so. Stormpay was credible until it had a run-in with a very popular paid surf site know as 12DP or 12 DaiyProfit. Stormpay refused to pay the members of 12 DP claiming that the surfsite is illegal. Illegal or not, I think Stormpay blew the large amount of money deposited by 12 DP. I lost $290.I also used E-gold. This payment processor values your money in gold. I really have no problem with this processor until September 2006. I w...

AMD's Phenom X4 9750 and 9850 processors
2008-03-31 07:15:00
Most of you are aware by now of the problems with AMD's quad-core Phenom processors. As we have chronicled closely, the chips were late to market and debuted with unexpectedly low clock frequencies. As a result, their performance was underwhelming compared to Intel's Core 2 offerings. Worse yet, shortly before its release, AMD discovered a bug in the Phenom that could cause a system hang in certain, very specific circumstances. This so called "TLB erratum" caused AMD to cease shipments of the Phenom's server-oriented counterpart, the Opteron 2300 series, but the firm went ahead with its plans to sell Phenoms in consumer PCs. For those systems, AMD offered a workaround in the form of a BIOS update, but the cure was arguably worse than the affliction, causing substantial performance hit in many applications.During our coverage of the unfolding TLB erratum story, AMD told us it planned to deliver a new revision of its quad-core silicon in "mid-to-late Q1" of this year. This revision...

Intel Showcases Dunnington, Nehalem and Larrabee Processors
2008-03-19 06:33:00
In an impromptu pre-IDF press briefing today, Intel disclosed a wealth of new information regarding its roadmap product efforts, upcoming multi-core processors and their associated platforms. The discussion, chaired by the Senior VP of Intel's Digital Enterprise Group, Pat Gelsinger, even covered additional detail of the company's future play in the discrete GPU space, code-named Larrabee.Pat dove in quickly with what was probably Intel's most ambitious design effort yet, that will bear fruit some time in 2H '08, the new six-core infused Dunnington server/workstation processor. Some of the more interesting take-aways with Dunnignton were that Intel has re-tooled a shared L2/L3 cache architecture and that Dunnington will in fact be socket compatible with their current Caneland platform. However, we would expect that actual drop-in compatibility is guaranteed only by system board manufacturers with capable power circuits and up to date BIOS microcodes. Pat also stressed that Dun...

Assembly and Test Services Keep Outpacing the Semiconductor Market
2008-03-12 16:00:00
IDMs and OEMs focusing on design and distribution, less on manufacturing March 12, 2008 - The worldwide market for semiconductor assembly and test services (SATS) grew for the sixth consecutive year in 2007, according to Gartner. Revenue was up 7.4 percent at $20.6 billion. For the sixth year in succession, the SATS market continued to outpace the overall semiconductor market by more than 50 percent (overall semiconductor revenue grew 2.9 percent in 2007). According to Gartner, a growing percentage of the total industry revenue is now attributed to packaging, assembly and testing. The outsourcing portion of this back-end manufacturing process has grown steadily since the recession of 2001. X-bit labs - Yorkfield Processors to Start Selling Next Week.: "As you know, the shipments of 45nm quad-core Core 2 Quad processors were delayed due to issues with processor system bus discovered in them. These Yorkfield processors on the new C1 stepping that would be free from this problem were expected to arrive in early March. According to sources, the new processor went into mass production exactly as planned and next week we should see 45nm Core 2 Quad Q9300, Q9450 and Q9550 in retail stores already. The mass production processors will be based solely on C1 stepping, which doesn’t have any changes to its thermal, electrical or mechanical specifications compared with the previous C0 processor stepping that is used widely in dual-core Wolfdale processors these days.Quad-core Core 2 Quad Q9550 and Core 2 Quad Q9450 processors will be designed to work at 2.83GHz and 2.66GHz respectively. For the first time for Core 2 Quad family they will work with 1333MHz bus and thanks to 45nm ...
