Idea Cellular Q2 Results: Net Profits Grow, Hints At Pricing Pressure
2009-10-27 12:12:00 Idea Cellular seems to be riding high on Indian telecom growth story as it has reported a 52 per cent rise in the consolidated net profit to Rs 220.1 crore against Rs 144 crore in corresponding quarter. The revenues have also seen a similar surge by 29% at Rs 2973.9 crore against Rs. 2303.3 crores reported last year. The number might look impressive on Y-o-Y basis but are lackluster if compared on a sequential basis as revenues has been flat and profits down severely. The company has also witnessed erosion in operating margins as it is down by 140 basis points at 25.3 per cent. Yahoo Declares Q3 Result – Revenues Dip, Profits Soar
2009-10-21 08:04:00 Yahoo! has declared its third quarter results (pdf) this morning. Its profits have grown more than three times as compared to Q3 2008, whereas, its revenues have taken a 12% hit compared to the same period last year. Its marketing services revenues from both Owned and Operated sites as well as Affiliate sites declined as compared to Q3 2008. US still remains to be its highest revenue generating geography. This sudden surge in the net profits can be attributed to the cost cutting measures taken by Yahoo! in the recent past. Over 1000 layoffs in the recent past served as the major cost cutting measure for Yahoo! This result has come out as a positive sign for Yahoo!, who has been struggling in the recent past by changing three CEOs and fighting a hostile bid by Microsoft. Although Yahoo! and Bing deal is yet to be approved by the antitrust, but analysts predict that as a good chance for Yahoo! to fight back in the global search market share. With the signs of stabilization both insi...

The American Prophet Micheal Moore Profits From CAPITALISM: A Love Story
2009-09-18 14:15:00 Here we go Again. Yet another inner view with Micheal Moore getting accused of making money from a system that he decries is unfair to all and evil. When will he ever shut up and go away? When will he ever quit doing what he does so well, and that is make true docu/mockumentaries about the American Way. He's been doing this for 20 years now. All his films have been right on the American money and come true. All his films have been renowned around the globe for their truthiness. The prophet has made a profit and American capitalists try to paint him as greedy as they are. They try to put him in their boat with them and throw away the key. "Shut Up" you made your money. Now go away. This is their fondest hope. That Micheal Moore would just go away. Usually in the American money system this means "Don't go away mad,(without any money) just go away". "Please for the Love of God and Money, just Go the fuck away Micheal Moore."Nobody upon will ever be able to prove that Micheal Moore...
Mylan (MYL): Patent pending profits
2009-09-16 06:00:00 "It has been estimated that $100 billion of branded drugs will go off patent over the next five years and Mylan (NYSE: MYL) is very well positioned to benefit," says growth stock expert Tom Bishop. In BI Research, he explains, "Mylan has not yet benefited much yet from the focus on healthcare reform, though generics are clearly part of the solution to lowering the cost of healthcare.""Mylan is predominantly a generic drug company that, in the wake of its acquisition of Merck Generics, has $5 billion in sales and 120 ANDA’s pending FDA approval targeting drugs with branded markets totaling $85 billion to fuel future growth."Of these 120 Mylan has thirty-five pending ANDAs that are potential first-to-file opportunities, representing $16.6 billion in annual brand sales."Meanwhile Obama’s healthcare plans call for expanding healthcare coverage to more Americans and making lower cost generic drugs more available. This incidentally includes d...
Salesforce.com (CRM): Profits in the clouds
2009-09-10 06:00:00 "Run properly, as Salesforce.com (NYSE: CRM) does, a cloud computing network also offers greater security, greater reliability, and lower costs (thanks to efficiencies of scale)," explains Timothy Lutts. In The Cabot Stock of the Month report, he suggests, "Salesforce.com is very well managed, and in our mind its leadership in cloud computing gives it a fundamental advantage that should translate into growing market share gains and steady revenue flows for years to come.""The company was founded a decade ago by a former Oracle executive, and today it’s a leading vendor of Customer Relationship Management (CRM) services. "But unlike Oracle, which sells software that users install on their own computers, Salesforce.com sells access to its own network, which is where all of its software applications are running. "This business model is called cloud computing, and it makes a lot of sense. With cloud computing, users simply pa...

2009-08-11 22:42:00 My uncle sat at the kitchen table with a perplexed look on his face, in a state of total shock. He tried to open his mouth to ask a question, but despite his best effort, all that came out was an incoherent response. I had just explained to my uncle the concept of “recommendation marketing”, which basically ...

Profits of Banks
2009-08-04 09:28:00 After narrowly avoiding the need for Government bailouts, Barclays posted profits of £2.98bn in the first six months of 2009. HSBC also posted profits of $5bn in the first 6 months. This growth in profits was despite a rise in bad debts. International bad debts at Barclays rose from £2.54bn to £4.56bn. The best area of growth was from investment banking. Retail banking is still struggling from recession and rise in mortgage arrears.Whilst these two banks didn't get direct funds from the government, they have benefitted from the taxpayers guarantee to the banking system. The government has agreed to underwrite the whole banking system with guarantees of over £100bn. Quantitative easing has also helped maintain liquidity at a time when interbank lending froze up.Critics of the banks will say that there reckless behaviour created a crisis which required taxpayers to bail them out. Despite the record bailout, it wasn't enough for the banks credit crisis to avoid the deepest recess...

2009-07-22 16:59:00 As you may well know, AdWords represents a technique which will allow you, the website owner, to gain paid traffic. The benefit here is that it is generally more successful than its more time-consuming and organic counterpart - SEO - but has the associated detriment that, well, quite obviously, you have to pay for it. As such it will be in your best interest to ensure that you get your money's worth, which is why I deemed it appropriate to dispense a couple of AdWords tips in your favor:1. Negative KeywordsTo start off, let's look at a few ways that can save you money. The first thing you need to do is to ensure that you have a list of negative keywords ready to go when setting up your AdWords ad. The reason for this is that your ad won't get listed when internet users search for any of the negative keywords, which means that you'll only get hits on those keywords you do want and that, in turn, will supply you with an audience more likely to have an interest in what you have to ...

Turnaround for Williams (WMB): Pipeline profits
2009-06-23 06:00:00 "Despite coming close to bankruptcy in 2002, Williams Co. (NYSE: WMB) has some of the premier assets in each of its business segments: exploration & production, mid-stream and pipelines," says turnaround expert George Putnam. In his The Turnaround Letter, he explains, "The company now has the financial strength not only to survive the current downturn but to grow and prosper.""Begun in 1908 as a pipeline construction company, Williams is now a major, integrated natural gas company; it produces, gathers, processes and transports natural gas throughout the United States. "In the 1990’s, Williams branched out into new businesses, including telecommunications (initially by running fiber optic cable through decommissioned natural gas pipelines), electric power generation and energy trading."Much of this expansion was funded by debt, and by the end of 2002, the company’s debt burden had brought it close to bankruptcy. Joyce Owens: Do Collectors Owe Profits to Artists?
2009-06-20 20:04:00 Before you get started with this, let me clarify that I am talking about artists who are still selling work at moderate prices through art galleries. The artists whose work can be resold without them even knowing. And not the Kerry James Marshall type artists. He recently sold a painting through his gallery, Jack Shainman, at the Miami Basel art fair for $350,000.00. I am not speaking of him or the other art giants that we read about. I am speaking to most artists who sell their work in the hundreds, maybe up to 10 or 20 thousands of dollars. The auction house artists, such as Mr. Marshall, are another story. I hope we all get there! So, you think...

US Natural Gas (UNG): For 'Xcelerated Profits'
2009-06-02 14:00:00 "After enduring one of the worst slumps on record, we’re beginning to see a rebound in all major commodities market," says Lee Lowell, adding "But one commodity stands out in particular -- natural gas."In Xcelerated Profits Report, he explains, "This could represent the best buying opportunity in several years." Here's the advisor's recent review of the United States Natural Gas (NYSE: UNG), an exchange-traded fund."As it so often does, it’s no surprise to see the energy market leading commodities higher over the past few weeks – specifically, crude oil and natural gas."This was the case when I was an option market maker in the oil and gas trading pits on the New York Mercantile Exchange (NYMEX) for many years. I’m very familiar with how these markets work and what moves them – and now is the time to buy natural gas."What we have here is a once-in-a-blue-moon buying opportunity. Having toppe...

Teva (TEVA): Generic profits
2009-05-19 06:00:00 "Generic drug maker Teva Pharmaceutical, Ltd. (NASDAQ: TEVA) delivered respectable earnings results," says Jack Adamo, who added the stock his Insiders Plus model portfolio."The company's earnings were up 4% on a proforma non-GAAP basis. In this case, that’s the correct measurement. Net GAAP earnings were up tremendously, but aren’t really representative of normal business factors."Although Teva gets much of its earnings from its proprietary multiple sclerosis drug, Copaxone, its primary business is generic drugs. That segment is inherently lumpy because profitability is greatly affected by which generic drugs it brings to market before any other generic company."By law, the first company to do so gets a 180-day window to be the exclusive generic seller. It can charge higher prices before other competitors enter the market."Teva expects its new product launches to be weighted toward the end of the year. As of April 27, it had 1...

Adobe (ADBE): PDF profits
2009-05-05 15:00:00 "Software giant Adobe Systems (NASDAQ: ADBE) has joined our model Growth Portfolio," says Stephen Leeb. Here's his assessment of the tech firm in his The Complete Investor."When it comes to investing in tech, perhaps the most difficult task is to find one with a bona fide franchise, i.e., an ironclad grip on its market that keeps it largely immune to competition."Adobe -- also known as 'the PDF company' -- fits the bill. As most computer users know, PDF files are ones that you can read but can’t change in any way—the content is controlled solely by the file’s creator."PDF files are ubiquitous on the Web and essential to a wide range of companies that publish online, from newspapers to book publishers to manufacturers that offer product manuals and so on."To read a PDF file, anyone who owns a computer can download a version of Adobe Acrobat without paying a cent—it’s 'freeware.' 2009-04-23 14:00:00 "Over the years, we’ve developed great respect for the management of Corning (NYSE: GLW)," says growth stock expert Mike Cintolo. In The Cabot Top Ten report, he adds, "More precisely, we respect the corporate culture—because they’ve shown how it’s possible for a $6 billion technology company—founded in 1851— to continually reinvent itself to serve the changing demands of the marketplace.""In fact, 70% of the company’s revenue today comes from products that did not exist five years ago. The one constant is that products tend to be based on glass."The household name we all know, of course, belongs to cookware, but Corning sold that long ago, retaining an interest of just 8%."Over a decade ago, Corning was an early mover in the fiber-optic cable business, which paid off very well. More recently, anticipating a growing wave of demand for flat-screen computers and big-screen TVs, Corning poured...

2009-02-27 06:00:00 "Master limited partnerships have been among the market’s most stable and reliable groups; but 2008 was a painful exception, with the benchmark index down nearly 37%, the worst performance in its 13-year history," says Elliott Gue (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2878).In- Personal Finance (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2878) he now sees a "great opportunity" for investors to takes positions in this high-yielding sector. 15 Tips to increase your Adwords profits
2009-02-19 04:28:00 1. Create a list with all possible keywords that fit to your product, service or business field. The more the better. So you will get also a lot of keywords which you must pay for only the minimal commandment of 5 cents. 2. Benefit from misspelling in order to find keywords which your competitors did not think of. For example if you have a emergency service , do not only bid for “emergency” but also for “imergency”, “imergensy” or “immergency”. 3. The first position on Googles search result page achieves usually most clicks. However this is also the most expensive position. Give it a try if the second to fourth display position gives you more visitors and more customers for less money. 4. The position of the Adwords-ad is determined not only by the maximum click price that you are ready to spend. Google evaluates also the relevancy of the displayed ad in order to position the Adwords-ads. The more clicks your ad receives, the higher it...

2009-01-03 13:17:00 Sometimes I'm just amazed at the good ideas out there -- good ideas that make me think wow, that's really clever and also wow, I've got no marketable skills whatsover.Good ideas like "walkin tubs," which definitely beats my in the cupboard refrigerator for convenience and utility. The "Walkin tub" from a place called "Remain Active" looks like any old bathtub, but it's got a water-tight door in the side, so that instead of having to climb in over the side of the tub, tricky for the young or the old or the handicapped, the bather can simply open the door, and......walk in.Clever, right? Yes, it is. And they say it can be installed by any plumber and that the door is absolutely watertight and that it comes with a 10-year warranty. Plus, it can be ordered over the phone and online, which makes sense, I guess-- if you're in the market for a tub that's easy to get into, you also probably are not the kind of person that wants to get in the ol' F-150 and drive over to Home Depot a...

2008-12-22 06:00:00 "Project management firm Hill Int'l (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/quote.htm?sym=hil) (NYSE: HIL (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/quote.htm?sym=hil)) is one of the best ways to profit from the public works projects planned in government stimulus," says The Dave Dyer Newsletter (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2669)."HI-L is a consulting company that provides expertise in the project management area. Their business is a people business, not a business that requires them to invest in a lot of heavy construction equipment."I think this gives them three advantages: first, they do not have the long marketing cycle that can last for years on a large project, second, they have greater flexibility to expand or contract as business opportunities change, and third, their fee-based revenue structure is less risky than other compensation models used in the construction industry."HIL has two divisions. Its original business, founded in 1976, was a construction litigation...

Online Dating profits from a depression over crisis!
2008-12-12 18:33:00 A handful of online dating sites are reporting activity spikes following September's global financial crisis. "On days when the US Dow Jones industrial went down [?] by more than 100 points, more people were likely to log in and spend more time on the site," stated Senior Research Scientist Gian Gonzaga in an interview with Reuters. "People seek out companionship in times of stress. Studies repeatedly show that being in a relationship can help a person's psychological and physical health." CEO Thomas Enraght-Moony of Match.com corroborates Gonzaga's view. "During these trying times, people are looking for hope in their inbox," he said. November brought Match.com its largest membership increase in the last seven years. But even lesser-known dating sites, like Perfectmatch.com, are seeing bounty. The latter reported a 47% hike in membership, in the three months to November compared to the previous quarter. An Opinion Research Corp. poll, sponsored by eHarmony, found 57% of Am...

2008-12-11 06:00:00 "Investors have been focusing on the shortcomings at Qwest Communications International (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/quote.htm?sym=q) (NYSE: Q (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/quote.htm?sym=q)), and to be sure, it has plenty," observes turnaround specialist George Putnam (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2633).In- his The Turnaround Letter (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2633), he adds, "But the company also has very valuable assets and strong cash flow. In addition, we believe the stock would command a good premium in a takeover." Here's his bullish review."Following its IPO in 1995, Qwest expanded via acquisitions and partnerships, and participated in the telecom bubble of the late 1990’s."Unlike many of the other high-flying telecoms of that era, however, Qwest realized that in addition to a story you needed customers. In 2000, it went out and acquired US West, which gave Qwest the revenue base to survive the bursting of the te...
Myriad Genetics (MYGN): Profits in predictive medicine
2008-12-01 06:00:00 "Predictive medicine is now a possibility because a person’s genetic predisposition for certain diseases can be uncovered through molecular diagnostics," explains growth stock expert Dave Dyer (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2591).In- the Dave Dyer Newsletter (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2591), he looks at one leading player in the field, Myriad Genetics (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/quote.htm?sym=mygn) (NASDAQ: MYGN (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/quote.htm?sym=mygn)), adding, "Genetically-based, personalized medicine may be one of the most important developments in decades.""Not all diseases have a genetic component, but some serious cancers certainly do. Energy Transfer Equity (ETE): Pipeline to profits
2008-11-17 06:00:00 "Energy Transfer Equity (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/quote.htm?sym=) (NYSE: ETE (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/quote.htm?sym=ete)) is a cash-producing machine," says leading value investor Nathan Slaughter (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2563).The- editor of Half-Priced Stocks (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2563) explains, "Even more promising, those who know the company best -- the CEO and one of its co-funders -- have been voting with their wallets lately." Here's his review of the master limited partnership."Enterprise Transfer Equity owns over 17,000 miles of natural gas pipelines in several states, including the largest network serving the prolific gas basins of Texas. "MLPs come in two classes: general partner and limited partner. The general partner (GP) typically handles all of the day-to-day operations and in return gets a cut of the distributions that are dished out to the limited partners (LP). "In this case, the General...
General Cable (BGC): Power grid profits
2008-11-12 06:00:00 "The new administration will likely soon launch a new spending program to put people back to work and boost the economy," says Jim Powell (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2555), adding, "That’s even more likely now with the financial crisis in full swing and growth declining."In his Global Changes & Opportunities Report (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2555) he looks at General Cable (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/quote.htm?sym=bgc) (NYSE: BGC (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/quote.htm?sym=bgc)) as a play on the rebuilding of the nation's electric power grid."Politicians at all levels have also voiced strong support for rebuilding our woefully inadequate infrastructure. Because building roads, bridges, electrical grids, and so on, will employ many voters, I think allocations for such projects will go to the top of the government’s spending list. "That’s especially true since infrastructure projects will also funne...
Copper profits with Freeport (FCX)
2008-11-04 06:00:00 "This is truly a spectacular opportunity to lock in solid gains for the next leg up in commodities," explain Yiannis Mostrous and Roger Conrad (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2510).The- co-editors of Vital Resource Investor (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2510) add, "Freeport Copper & Gold (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/quote.htm?sym=fcx) (NYSE: FCX (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/quote.htm?sym=fcx)), our favorite copper play, is certainly cheap enough to be bought at once, with the caveat that we may not have hit bottom.""Deep value and generous dividends don’t normally come to mind with vital resources and the companies that produce them. But that’s precisely what we’re seeing here in late October."Resource stocks are cheap now for one major reason: the strong conviction of investors that the global economy is headed into the tank, despite the fact that the global financial crisis appears to be easing. "Some of our favo...
Profits kept inside warm warm pocket for shorts
2008-10-28 13:53:00 The strong rebound caught my eye. I promptly took my short profits on HKLand as well as Yanlord. I do not believe the market can go down one straight line to 1200 where i eye the major support. With such a hefty fall, i no believe government will not do anything. Anyway it is good profits and the stocks have tested the support. Now that i have no more trading positions in the market. It's time to identify those resistance levels and ambush the bull. Participate in this rebound? I will only consider if the resistance is broken.Market expects Ben to cut the rate to below 1%. The impact of the last cut was lukewarm, hence to bring the rate below 1% may or may not be welcomed by the market. The reaction of the market after the cut will be key to determine the next direction.DISCLAIMER: The contents in this website are for fun reading and must not be taken as a buy or sell advice. 2008-10-21 23:46:00 At these high volatility levels I doubt those results matter much- institutions may be more interested in selling volatility than anything else in the short-term. Nimble traders' paradise- the last 5 years of generally low volatility have driven speculators mental, especially those with ursine dispositions. Jack be nimble! Macs and iPhones save Apple, while Yahoo is laying off 10% of workforce (Bloomberg.com).Live trades and analysis from The Lauriston Letter
EZCorp (EZPW): Pawnbroker profits
2008-10-21 06:00:00 “The credit crisis on Wall Street is headed for Main Street,” says Mark Skousen (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2482), economist, professor, financial author and investment advisor. In his The Hedge Fund Trader (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/ccount/click.php?id=2482), he explains, “This means business is likely to jump at the nation’s pawnbrokers.” Here, he looks at EZCorp (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/quote.htm?sym=ezpw) (NASDAQ: EZPW (http://www.thestockadvisors.co-m/quote.htm?sym=ezpw)). “Both the economy and the financial markets need consumer confidence for things to go smoothly. “That is sorely lacking right now. As a result, I’m expecting a bumpy ride during the next few quarters. “Predictably, low-income earners and middle-class individuals will be particularly hard hit by the downturn. That means business is likely to jump at the nation’s pawnbrokers. “So now is an excellent time to p...

Product Reviews Can Boost Your Profits
2008-10-17 13:00:00 As an Affiliate Marketer there are many ways in which you can increase your earnings and one of the easiest ways is to review the products that you are an affiliate for and post your review and recommendation online at your blog if you have one. By the way, if you do not have a blog as an affiliate marketer you definitely should as it is one of the easiest ways to promote your affiliate products. In this article I'm going to discuss how using product reviews to promote your affiliate products can increase your profits.Especially with a blog where you have customers or readers who regularly come to your blog, there is a level of trust that you have built up with your followers and, as such, they will follow your recommendations for products that you have reviewed. You have to tread carefully here though as you do not want to overdo this method of promotion either and look as though you are recommending everything that's being promoted online.
