The Protect America Act
2008-04-18 06:17:00
Sorry I've been absent for a couple of days but I was called out of town unexpectedly. I missed the Mickey Mouse debate on the Disney Channel but Jazz covered that below. I missed the fact that the MSM still seems unwilling to report on the deteriorating situation in Iraq but then that's why they are called the cable tabloid networks. I didn't miss this however:'Bin Laden Determined To Strike In U.S.' Pt. 2or this:GAO Slams Bush on Terrorism - says Al Qaeda attack likely and we have no plan Yes we do indeed need a Protect America Act but it should consist of getting the Bush/Cheney cabal out of the White House as quickly as possible and making sure the Republicans become an insignificant and powerless minority. According to the GAO, while Bush and the neocons having been fighting their own personal demons in Iraq while the real demons are gaining strength and getting ready to attack.al Qaeda is now using the Pakistani safe haven to put the last element necessary to launch anoth...
Congress Speaks Out About Protect America Act
2008-02-29 09:17:00
Congress is stalled over the Protect American Act and Constitutional rights.  Bush is threating we are not protected unless a bill granting telecom immunity is passed.  Is Bush trying to scare folks into giving away more of their privacy?  Many members of Congress think so.  In the Washington Post, Rockefeller, Conyers, Leahy, and Reyes speak out about what is happening: Nothing is more important to the American people than our safety and our freedom. As the chairmen of the House and Senate intelligence and judiciary committees, we have an enormous responsibility to protect both. Unfortunately, instead of working with Congress to achieve the best policies to keep our country safe, once again President Bush has resorted to scare tactics and political games. In November, the House passed legislation to give U.S. intelligence agencies strong tools to intercept terrorist communications that transit the United States, while ensuring that Americans’ private communications are...
Let The Protect America Act Extension Debate Run Its Course
2008-02-21 05:25:00
While I agree with my colleagues, Dennis Lormel and Jeffrey Breinholt , that renewal of the Protect America Act should be considered by Congress as urgent and serious business, it’s misplaced to ascribe current delays to merely “playing politics.” Few pieces of legislation before Congress carry such gravity and importance when it comes to the twin goals of protecting our national security and preserving our civil liberties. Such matters should be considered with gravity and thorough...(read more)

Let?s say you?re a lie-beral, which means you?re a homo. You?re walking down the street and see some new teenage ...
What Happened?
2008-02-15 15:59:00
By- Suzie-Q @ 8:00 AM MST What happened? The administration did everything right. The invocation of “countless American lives” hanging in the balance, the specter of terrorists delightedly chatting away undetected, the urgency emphasized by a threat to delay a long-scheduled presidential trip to Africa in order to secure the nation against attack. That’s right, ...

The Protect America Act: Cheetah for Tyranny [Digg]
2008-02-03 00:23:00
Congress' criminal majority has once again raped the Constitution, this time with the "Protect America Act". Personal privacy rights of US citizens -- massively violated by presidential usurper Bush's warrantless wiretaps since soon after the 9/11 attacks -- are just one facet of the Constitutional rape by Congressional thugs in the PAA.
Time running out on the so-called Protect America Act
2008-01-24 02:47:00
You know what they say: you don't have anything to worry about if you don't have anything to hide. Yeah, right. The question: should the federal government be able to listen in on mine and your telephone conversations without a warrant? Did I miss the part of the constitution that protects us from search and seizure except when the government feels otherwise?Anyway. The so-called "Protect America Act" is running out, and Congress seems poised to renew the unconstitutional ability to wiretap all of us without judicial oversight. Weaklings. Panderers. Are you willing to give up your freedom for an illusion of security? If so, as the saying goes, you should consider a move to a country where big daddy tells you what to do and what to think. That isn't America. More facts and less ranting at Threat Level.
?Known unknowns? and the Protect America Act

From PoliticalWaves, by Judith Gayle Because the Sunday pundit shows were wall-to-wall with the pudgy face of Karl Rove ? everywhere you turned ? Mr. Blowing-Sunshine-Up-Yer-Ass ? I hunted around for something else and stumbled on the court proceedings involving the ACLU against AT&T and the government on C-SPAN; the judge was RIGHT ? it WAS ...
Congressional Backpedaling Game Begins On The Protect America Act
2007-08-20 19:52:00
From the New York Times:  Democratic congressional officials now say, “Broad new surveillance powers approved by Congress this month could allow the Bush administration to conduct spy operations that go well beyond wiretapping to include - without court approval - certain types of physical searches on American soil and the collection of Americans’ business records.” Did you ...
The Vote: Protect America Act of 2007 or S 1927
2007-08-06 19:33:00
The name of this act smells of Orwellian double speak. Most of you already know that is a blatant violation of the Constitution and strips more civil liberties from the people while protecting the power mad. Go here if you need some more info on this act. I thought it would be worthwhile to list ...
