2008-04-17 09:14:00 This is something I wrote in 2006 after having a very strange experience with weed: It was the night of the 29th of December, a Saturday. Björk?s New Video Is Naturally Psychedelic
2008-04-14 18:39:00 I for one really enjoy Björk?s videos — mainly because there’s no way they could have been created without some mind-altering substances. Turns out, that’s partially true — as a New York Times video interview confirms that this particular creative piece ( ?Wanderlust?, from Björk?s album Volta) was helped along by “psychedelic substances”. Either way, ...

2008-03-16 16:34:00 Band: ComusAlbum: First UtteranceRelease: 1971Myspace: itt!Sziasztok! El?ször is köszönöm Viktornak a bizalmat, meg egyéb bla. Én lennék az újfiú, remélem nem okozok majd csalódást az ajánlóimmal. :)Els? album gyanánt valami arcot lezúzó grindot kéne kitennem, amolyan "most aztán jól bemutatkozom a népnek egy n+1.

Pete Fowler: Bubblegum Psychedelic
2008-02-08 21:34:00 Pete Fowler's world is full of noisy guitars, big hair and cute monsters, all seen through very brightly-colored lenses. We've mentioned the cult graphic artist's work before with toys such as Action Man and his Be@rbrick, but his idiosyncratic style comes through to no better effect than in the new exhibition of paintings that opens today in London at the Stolen Space gallery. The show goes by the name of Bubblegum Psychedelic, but this title only gives you just a peep through the door into this mad world. To get the full on surround sound effect you need to stride on in there and take a look for yourself. Creatures of all shapes, sizes and colors surround the viewer, whether in paintings on the wall or the miniature toys playing in the display cabinet. It's unclear who they are or what they're doing, but everyone is definitely having a very good time! If you hang out at this monster party long enough you'll start getting to know some names, like Snorseman, Snorse Queen and O...

Pete Fowler Bubblegum Psychedelic Show
2008-02-06 23:43:00 Mega tired but happy! I interviewed toy designer/illustrator Pete Fowler this morning for UKAdapta and found him to be an incredibly sincere and wise man. I really enjoyed talking to him and left his studio with a big smile, a head swimming with ideas and a TWRG, signed by the man himself! We will be at his show "Bubblegum Psychedelic" filming it tomorrow too. Here is what Pete has to say about the upcoming show: ?This is the first collection of paintings I?ve exhibited for some years. A culmination of ideas evolved and developed over time drawing influences from old and new psychedelic music, mutations, record shopping and my own alternate reality project Monsterism Island. The show includes paintings, large and small using a candy coloured palette quite unlike work I have previously produced with paint. This palette is much used in my digital illustration work. Also on display will be previously unseen works on paper, in pencil and ink inspired by work from my sketch book and doodl...

Eric Burdon & The Animals - Winds Of Change [1967]
2008-02-06 19:14:00 Winds of Change opened the psychedelic era in the history of Eric Burdon & the Animals ? although Burdon's drug experiences had taken a great leap forward months earlier with his first acid trip, and he and the group had generated some startlingly fresh-sounding singles in the intervening time, it was Winds of Change that plunged the group headfirst into the new music. The record was more or less divided into two distinctly different sides, the first more conceptual and ambitious psychedelic mood pieces and the second comprised of more conventionally structured songs, although even these were hard, mostly bluesy and blues-based rock, their jumping-off point closer to Jimi Hendrix than Sonny Boy Williamson. The band's new era opened with waves washing over the title track, which included sitar and electric violin, while Burdon's voice, awash in reverb, calmly recited a lyric that dropped a lot of major names from blues, jazz, and rock. "Poem by the Sea" was a recitation by Bur...
Plastic Penny - Two Sides of a Penny [1968]
2008-01-27 11:42:00 Plastic Penny were an unremarkable late-'60s British group who made the U.K. Top Ten in early 1968 with "Everything I Am," a labored ballad augmented by strings, that wasn't even one of their best songs. Much of their material was psychedelic pop with hints of encroaching prog-rock, sometimes recalling the Who a bit, elsewhere going into more fey story-songs. Their guitarist, Mick Grabham, would play with Procol Harum for a few years in the 1970s. Peanut Butter Conspiracy - For Children of All Ages [1969]
2008-01-24 11:50:00 Ralph Schuckett, who played keyboard with Todd Rundgren, the Monkees, Hall & Oates, and others, adds a Vanilla Fudge sound to For Children of All Ages by the Peanut Butter Conspiracy, and it is a shame more of that appealing, made-for-radio production Vanilla Fudge made famous is absent from this set. Alan Brackett's vocals sound straight out of Boston band Ultimate Spinach, and that is the downside here. The vocal pretension and bleached lyrics put a damper on this party. Still, it has its moments. Barbara Robison's voice on "Try Again" is hardly Grace Slick, but it adds a hippy vibe one expects, interrupted by strange sound effects which make the listener think the tonearm has lifted off the disc prematurely. Robison's contribution to "It's Alright" puts this group closer to New Colony Six meets Spanky & Our Gang, and an intuitive producer would've known that that was the way to go. For pompousenss it is hard to beat "The Loudness of Your Silence," which would make ev...
Miss Sixty?s Psychedelic Runway
2008-01-15 23:30:00 Expect to feel the groove this Fashion Week. When Miss Sixty presents its Fall 2008 collection as part of New York Fashion Week on Sunday, February 3 at 8 p.m., get ready for peace, love, and happiness. This season Miss Sixty has collaborated with world-famous rock ‘n’ roll poster artist Bob Masse to design the set. This vintage-inspired installation will include an adaptation of Masse’s famous commemorative Janis Joplin poster enlarged to cover the entire runway; pieces will be further enhanced by the application of UV paint, bringing a feeling of the ’60s hippie movement to the 21st century. Last season Hilary Swank, Mischa Barton, and Demi Moore sat runway-side and we can’t wait to see who will rock out to this psychedelic art movement atmosphere this season. Victoria Bartlett will be styling once again; she previously partnered with Miss Sixty to style the Spring 2008 show and will also work on the Spring/Summer 2008 advertising campaign. The Collectors - Grass and Wild Strawberries [1968]
2008-01-11 17:41:00 This is a strange album, from that brief moment when it looked like rock and theater could merge productively and profitably. The band hooked up with poet-playwright George Ryga and the result was a stage work called Grass and Wild Strawberries ? there's no telling if it was ever produced, or what the reaction was if it did make it to a theater (though one can guess, from the fact that nobody has ever heard of it, what any audiences and critics must've thought). And then there's this album of the score. All of the music was written by the band, and the lyrics by Ryga, and the funny thing is, it's not half bad. They still fall back a little too much on the pseudo-Gregorian sound, which only the Yardbirds really pulled off successfully in a rock context ("Still I'm Sad"), but for a good part of this album, their sound is lyrical, enthusiastic, unforced, and rather pleasing, and creative ? at least, they abandoned their Moody Blues pretensions in favor of a bit more of a roots roc...

2008-01-10 13:03:00 24th December, 2007 ! We landed at the Dabolim Airport around 3 pm and headed off straight to Moira, Taryn's original home ! My in laws and their 3 dogs live in this old Portuguese bungalow they call Tristar ! Mama is usually busy in the kitchen or watching TV, in particular TBATB ! If not, you'd find her on the phone talking to her best friend, Aunty Anna for hours together ! Sure she'll "What Rubbish ?" it as exaggeration ! Dada is busing dealing with the nuances of the English language and shooting off to the Bar as and when required !The lush green background gives Tristar a very earthy village feel ! Time moves slow in Moira. You tend to get lost in the sounds of nature out there in the woods ! Fury, Smokie & Snow White, the 3 dogs at Tristar add on to the wilderness with their evident presence ! Fury Rodrigues is in charge here, no questions asked ! While Snow White has a persistent appetite for anything sweet, Smokie is constantly battling egos with Fury or doing his...

2007-12-11 07:24:00 Despite this prototype’s psychedelic look, what you are looking at is the next generation BMW 7-Series testing in Munich. Looking closely at these photos we can now see the most revealing glimpses of the all new styling with a new front grille and a wider and lower hood for a sportier look. The new 7-Series will feature an 8-speed automatic transmission and the 4×4 xDrive. The gear lever returns to the centre console and we will see a more user friendly information and navigation system. Engines will range from the 3.0 liter 272hp straight-6, new S65 414hp V8 first introduced in the E92 M3 and we may see a revamped version of the existing 6.0-liter N73 V12 engine. Set to be launched as a 2009 model, the new 7-Series is likely to make its debut at the 2008 Paris Motor Show ? or could we be set for a surprise at Geneva? [UPDATE] One of our sources, kindly informs us that this vehicle is definitey not the new 7-Series but instead the current E65 7-Series out testing new c...

The Whitsundays: Self-titled album with Sorry James
2007-11-21 14:59:00 The Whitsundays: Self-titled album with Sorry JamesThe Whitsundays which fronted by Paul Arnusch (vocals, percussion), Dave Swanson (guitar, vocals ), Clint Frazier (drums), Lyle Bell (bass, vocals), and Doug Organ (keyboards) set the release date of their self-titled album on January 22, 2008 through Friendly Fire Recordings.Whitsundays certainly have a knack for writing yellowed, reverb-wrapped pop music, borrowing from the grand tradition of English psychedelia, garage, and vintage organ rock. With reverent nods to the flower-picking whimsy of the Zombies, the red-faced bluster of the Animals, and the delightful inanity of Syd Barrett, the Whitsundays' self-titled debut is a vintage gem, and a charming hodgepodge of '60s musical ephemera. The main Whit, Paul Arnusch ? who also logs time with starry post-rock supernauts Faunts and post-punk reduxers the Floor ? called on his ever-expanding collection of vintage gear (from archaic guitars to Rhodes and Wurlitzers) to document a lo...

The Psychedelic Furs - Heaven (1984)
2007-10-25 07:30:00 The Psychedelic Furs, whose name belies their punk-influenced music, were formed in England in 1977 by brothers Richard Butler (vocals) and Tim Butler (bass), along with saxophone player Duncan Kilburn and guitarist Roger Morris. Neckbeard USA - Psychedelic Alt-Country
2007-10-13 17:19:00 I was tipped off about Neckbeard USA, formerly Neckbeard Telecaster, by fellow music enthusiast Doctor A. of Rotoworld. Neckbeard is a collaboration of musicians in Brooklyn with some members of Dirty On Purpose, The ...
Afro-Psychedelic Sunshine
2007-09-29 20:39:00 Chrissy Zebby Tembo and Ngozi Family- My AncestorsI recently heard this blasting in a record store and I had to have it. Catchy, upbeat melodies collide with psychedelic fuzz guitar solos to create a sound that immediately grabs the listener by the ear. People who have a predilection for Nigerian and high-life music as well as lo-fi garage and 60's psych-rock will definitley dig this. Besides having "Oh Yeh Yeh" featured on the Love Peace and Poetry-African Psychedelic Music comp and the praise from a few underground DJ's, the exposure to Chrissy Zebby Tembo's music has been minimal. The album was recently reissued on wax after being out-of-print for a long time, and it looks to be a limited presssing of 430 copies. I have uploaded the entire record for you to sample. If you like the album, please purchase it at your local independent record store or by following this link.Your comments are always appreciated!

Psychedelic Muse : That's what it is !
2007-09-04 06:30:00 Music, i consider the next best thing to life. With all the subjective classification of music, it seems to have covered all humanity across the world. Music can have a lasting impact on ones mind and this happens almost unconsciously following a review you heard from a slightly more forward friend of yours. What began with listening to the likes of Pink Floyd and Led Zeppelin is now a full throttle psychedelic head trip into the inner realms of the sub-conscious self or maybe it's just the psychedelics talking, either way it is a lot of FUN. Ironically, all music that unites us also happens to alienate us when we tend to camp with a typical sub-genre suggesting total conformance to the particular style. This separation kinda kills the potential of an experience. The moment you think of something you don't want, you create a wall around and we all know what walls do.There is an obvious difference between the club vibe and the outdoor jungle vibe. Clubs just don't cut. However, wit...
