Be', non è questo il caso. Stavolta non si può che dar ragione alla stampa inglese che tanto bene ha parlato di questo nuovo gruppo. Mi sto riferendo ai These New Puritans, quattro giovani inglesi di Southend-on-Sea, e al loro album d'esordio "Beat Pyramid", uscito da poco. Un disco particolare, una ventata di aria fresca nella scena musicale rock inglese. Disco eclettico, non facilmente ed univocamente inquadrabile in un determinato genere, per via delle sue varie sfaccettature. Grabado burdamente en audio digital en un portátil de Jack, el ep se editó en un 7" edición limitada de 500 copias por Angular Records antes de ser puesto a disposición del público para su descarga gratuita durante solo un día.These New Puritans son Jack Barnett (voz, guitarra, ordenador, sonido), su hermano gemelo George Barnett (batería, cinta, percusión), Thomas Hein (bajo, sampler, coros, percusión) y Sophie Sleigh-Johnson (sintetizadores), y se les compara a "Klaxon" o a "!!!".

2007-11-27 22:18:00 ¿Qué hacÃa un grupo tan bisoño sin disco grande, su debut llamado Beat Pyramid lo publican a comienzos de año, como These New Puritans comandando una de las noches de la programación musical del Festival Internacional de Cine de Gijón? ¿Son acaso los británicos el nuevo hype llegado de allende del Cantábrico? Parece que sà porque de lo que se contaba de ellos en el programa oficial, incluso de los temas que tienen colgados en su página oficial de MySpace, a lo que se pudo ver y escuchar en la Sala Albéniz anoche hay un abismo. El cuarteto mostró en directo lo mejor y lo peor de su propuesta. A pesar de todo lo que han hablado y bien los medios de su paÃs, a These New Puritans les queda un gran trecho para poder ir de estrellas por la vida. Lo más positivo de ellos es también lo más negativo. Sus temas suenan como retazos mal cosidos de bandas de finales de los setenta y principios de los ochenta, pero todo ello no lo asumen en un sonido propio. Por unos momentos re... |
