Question Time 29th May - Hoon in a Pickle?
2008-05-29 18:42:00 Question Time tonight has all the makings of a great show. Tory hero of the moment Eric Pickles will be locking horns with Labour Chief Whip Geoff Hoon. Eric has a fantastically smooth and persuasive approach to most arguments (I've heard rumour that he has sold fur hats to some Greenpeace officials heading off to Africa) and any attacks on the Tories from Hoon will seem like Jack Russel yapping at a Lion. Eric seems to live in the eye of a storm. The rest of the panel includes the Green Party member of the European parliament for the South East of England Caroline Lucas (no doubt she will wind me up) the historian and broadcaster Dan Snow (son of Peter) and the director of Global Vision Ruth Lea.Tonight's show is from Lincoln and will be shown on BBC One at 22:35.Be there or be Albert.

Question Time.
2008-04-26 10:16:00 I rarely watch it but wanted to see the big three London mayoral candidates. They are not impressive. nor were the questions, all except for the one about their private lives which have been made public. It was astonishing to see Paddick take the moral high ground over the promiscuous heterosexuals on either side. Neither of them had the nous to ask him if he is in a civil partnership and if so, is he faithful. Perhaps someone can answer for him? It will not influence my vote :-)

Don't miss Question time tonight - Caroline Flint
2008-02-14 18:18:00 Don't miss Question time tonight, Caroline (If looks could kill) Flint is on and she is always good for a laugh. It's worth watching to see if she can reply to a single question with a straight answer (unlike all the other Labour MPs). I guarantee she will lose her temper, and even better - Clive James will drag her over the coals in his usual sarcastic manner. I can't wait. In the meantime I'm having a Chinese delivered and I'm trying out Chicken Kung Po for the first time. You can't call me unadventurous.

Question Time 7th Feb - Andy Burnham does a Gordon Brown.
2008-02-08 11:33:00 I enjoyed this weeks edition of Question Time. We had a decent panel, there were no real dummies and even the non-political panel member, Duncan Bannatyne, who didn't say much, still managed to enhance the debate with his comments. Surprisingly the panel were all in agreement on the first question raised: A member of the audience ask if The Archbishop of Canterbury, Dr Rowan Williams, was correct to state that the adoption of some Sharia law in the UK seemed "unavoidable".The show then settled into its usual format of opposing opinions. David Dimbleby had to cut Andy Burnham short on several occasions for doing a Gordon by going into typical party propaganda, instead of answering the question put to him. When Burnham was asked for his opinion on Caroline Flint's policy to evict the long term unemployed from social housing, David became so despondent he had to interrupt his Burnham's Labour party political broadcast, saying:"We hear this in the House of Commons every week, will yo...

Question time 11th October 2007
2007-10-11 23:48:00 It's a cracker, I'm watching it now. Put it on and enjoy! Kelvin MacKenzie the former editor of The Sun has just started the debate with a full five minute attack on Gordon Brown - superb.Well how do I feel it went? There were no surprises. The audience's questions all seemed to question Gordon Brown's actions of the last week and his position on the EU Treaty. I didn't envy Harriet Harman tonight, she had lie in front of the nation by repeating the same old drivel that has been spouted since Brown bottled it. In contrast, Caroline Spelman had an easy ride and at times just had to sit back and listen to the audience booing Harriet. I'm sorry but with the LibDems sitting at 11% in the latest Mori poll, Simon Hughes would not have been missed. Chuka Umunna of the Brownite thinktank Compass was trying his best to stand by labour's position. He's obviously a very bright young man, but as the show went on, I think he found it increasingly difficult to remain partisan. All in all I...

Plaid fury as Wood is axed from Question Time
2007-03-15 19:14:00 Plaid Cymru are enraged tonight after learning that Leanne Wood AM will not be appearing on the BBC's Question Time programme as planned. The programme makers contacted Ms Wood just hours before recording was due to start in Newport to inform her that she would no longer be required.Despite this, Ms Wood was advertised as a guest on the Question Time website throughout the week. The page has now been changed to reflect the new line-up. In a sensational political reversal, it appears that left-leaning Leanne's replacement is the fiercely conservative columnist, Peter Hitchens. This is also a serious snub to devolved politics in Wales. When the programme came from Edinburgh recently, two of the five candidates were Members of the Scottish Parliament and a further two were candidates in the forthcoming Scottish elections. In Newport, this evening, the Welsh assembly will have no representatives whatsoever.Poor Leanne will just have to watch the programme on television, perhaps frantic...

Question Time
2006-12-04 22:21:01 Wouldn’t it be refreshing to see the Governor submit to a monthly question period, giving backbenchers the ability to examine Spitzer and his policies in an open, freewheeling, and televised forum? I know the opposing parties don’t face each other in the Assembly and Senate as they do in Ottawa’s and London’s Parliaments, but [...]
