Update on Quilt Auction
2010-10-10 03:42:00 The quilt auction website mentioned below says more than 75 quilts will be auctioned tomorrow (probably written months ago) but the word "more" understates it by a wide margin. According to their Facebook page they now have 180 donated quilts for auction. Considering the amount of work that goes into making a quilt, that is an staggering number. It shows the great generosity you find around here. I didn't see any information about payment methods but I imagine you can polish up the credit card and bring along the check book for back up. Vermont Quilt Auction and Tractor Parade Oct 10

If you would like to see to some of the local rural flavor, here are two good Vermont events you can attend, one featuring quilts and the other parading tractors. Cabin Fever Quilts in Waitsfield Vt is sponsoring a benefit auction of 75 hand made quilts to raise funds for the local Food Bank, Humane Society, Battered Women's Shelter, and Seedbank for Haiti. The auction will be held at the Waitsfield Elementary School with a preview 9:00 am and the auction at 11:00 am. The quilts are craft made in the local area. You can see a slide show of some of the quilts to be auctioned here. But be warned, once you see them, you are going to want them! Franklin County Quilt Show April 10 and 11
2010-04-07 04:54:00 Approximately 100 quilts will be on display at the 12th annual Franklin County Quilt Show this weekend. You can find the show at the St. Albans City Hall, 100 North Main. St Albans is about 30 miles north of Burlington and close to Interstate 89 (exit 19). There will be special exhibit quilts including Purple Hearts Quilts, Breast Cancer Quilts, and local charity quilts. Seven years old and profoundly autistic, he was a charming master of escape and even with all the precautions his parents had taken to prevent such a tragedy he slipped away and by the time neighbors and family could locate him it was too late.It was a time our family will always remember and we think of Alex often, especially at family get-togethers where we notice his absence more than ever. For my sister Memorial Day has a special significance in the son she's lost.I haven't written about it until now because there was a lot of misrepresentation in our local media. But more than that, there is always a funny or heart-warming or otherwise endearing story near the end of the issue. Recently, my husband tore out a page and left it for me - it was this story about quilts by Joan Donaldson. I love it, and I know all you quilters out there will love it too. There was also this funny one by Joe Lavin about being a failure on Facebook - to which I can wholeheartedly relate. |
