After FCC approval, the maneuver will give the Redskins' sister company an effective local monopoly on the sports talk radio format. It's often stated by defenders of Red Zebra that John Riggins and his compatriots have had relatively free reign in criticisms of the Redskins, that much is admittedly true to a partial extent. Of course, the former Triple X also has had to compete until now with the more freewheeling WTEM. With that competitive pressure about to be ended, Dan Snyder will no longer have the same need to maintain a veneer of legitimacy.---- Ironically, the stated reason for the maneuver by Red Zebra suits is to allow more outlets for Washington Redskins game broadcasts.
