Rafael Méndez was born on March 26, 1906 in Jiquilpan, Mexico. His musical training began when he was five, when his father needed a trumpet player for the orchestra comprised of family members. The Méndez orchestra was a popular performing group and appeared regularly at festivals and community gatherings. Rafael loved the trumpet and actually practiced more that his father allowed.In 1916, the Méndez orchestra performed for guerrilla leader Pancho Villa. He was so taken with the family orchestra, that he ?drafted? the family into his army. Rafael quickly became Villa?s favorite player, and after several months demanded that Méndez stay with the rebels, even after the rest of his family were allowed to return home. Months later, Méndez was released from the rebel army, and he began to perform in several travelling circus bands, in addition to the family orchestra. It seems that Rafael Nadal's success on clay has created humongous jealousy particularly among Roger Federer and Novak Djokovic supporters.It is truly unacceptable when the self-proclaimed 'Britain's No. 1 quality newspaper website', Telegraph.co.uk called the King of Clay an 'ogre'. Since when the world no. 2 is known as an 'ogre' in France?And what exactly is an ogre?1. A giant or monster in legends and fairy tales that eats humans.2. A person who is felt to be particularly cruel, brutish, or hideous.I don't see the definition match Rafael Nadal at all.Please accept the fact that Nadal is the best on clay. Indicators predicting a big year for Rafael Furcal included his impending free agency, a return to health, and a strong Spring Training performance.  After 28 games, he sits at .371/.459/.586 (tops among shortstops). When Furcal first reached free agency after the 2005 season, he was only 28 and was coming off a .284/.348/.429 season.  He chose to maximize his yearly salary rather than take a four or five-year deal.  The three-year, $39MM contract Furcal signed with the Dodgers allows him to re-enter free agency at age 31. Furcal is in line for a monster contract even if he can't maintain his MVP performance.  Jimmy Rollins is signed at a well below-market price, so he's a poor comparable.  The high-end comp is Derek Jeter, who gave up nine free agent years for a bit less than $20MM per season.  Furcal's agent, Paul Kinzer, could reasonably ask for $75MM over five years. Nadal had a fierce start at the Monte Carlo Tennis Tournament. After all this is his favourite surface. With the result 6-0, 6-3 in just 76 minutes over Croatian Mario Ancic, I believe Nadal still got what it takes to win his first title of the year and his 4th (!) consecutive Monte Carlo titles.Believe it or not, Nadal has 94 out of 95 clay court matches since April 2005. He only lost to Roger Federer at the Hamburg final last year.By the way, Rafael Nadal has revamped his official website.
