The Mets have wrapped-up their starting and back-up catchers for the 2008 season. Former Colorado Rockie Yorvit Torrealba was given 3 years and $14.4MM to start, and Ramon Castro was awarded two years and $4.6MM to caddy for him. That is a mere $7.1 MM per year for the next two seasons.At no point, do I envision ever wanted Torrealba over Castro for my fantasy baseball team.

UPDATE, 11-16-07: As expected, Torrealba has inked a three-year deal with the Mets.  Newsday reports the deal is worth $14.4MM.  Since Torrealba was a Type B free agent, the Rockies will get a supplemental pick for their loss. Ramon Castro and the Mets closed in on a two-year contract Tuesday that would keep their second-string catcher in New York.
