Power of Little Things
2008-07-16 16:12:00
Had trouble falling asleep last night and have been falling behind on other things. Not just that a number of little things have been going wrong in the past few hours. As I was hungry for lunch, I suddenly realized I hadn’t made it to Trader Joe’s yesterday as I had planned. ...

Maybe I see too much into things and find meaning that isn’t really there. Anyway, one of the reasons I was a bit off-center when I returned from my trip to Utah was getting some unexpected bad financial news in the mail (including an assessment of an underpayment for my 2005 California taxes). I will ...

Back in late January/early February, right after my Rudy exited the race for the Republican nomination, I found myself in the unusual position of being undecided in a political contest. Given my commitment to conservative ideas, it seemed I would end up supporting former Massachusetts Governor Mitt Romney as I was closer to him on the ...

Have you ever noticed when you’re watching TV late at night how the commercials change? No longer do you see ads for soda, cars, etc but you start to get ads for different products. The other night I couldn’t sleep and I was watching “All the Right Moves” on cable and in one ad block there ...

Is Rachael Ray A Terrorist?
2008-06-05 18:23:00
It’s not often that I’m on top of things, but every once in a while, I have this feeling that makes me think “something is going to come of that”. This is a pretty ridiculous example, I’ll admit it. Back during SXSW I was making fun of some buddies rocking the houndsooth-esque scarves. I doubt ...
Release of My Examination Results
2008-06-05 14:17:00
Once again, I got my results and as always, I am posting them on this blog, whether the results are good or poor. As a summary, my results in this semester are of first class standard, but barely there. It’s a sharp contrast to my previous semester’s results, where that single semester totally ruined all ...

Fan Support: Red Sox vs. Orioles & Random Thoughts
2008-06-02 00:54:00
In yet another sad loss, the Orioles were bested by the Evil Empire 1A, the Boston Red Sox, 9-4. Simply put, Brian Burres got shelled as he was attacked by the Red Sox offense early and often on Sunday.Although Luke Scott homered, Baltimore was undone by J.D. Drew, Manny Ramirez's 501st homer, and the return of rotund Bartolo Colon -- who seemingly was left for dead -- until the Red Sox picked him off the scrap heap. Needless to say, Bartolo looked like he was circa 2006, pretty much in control and pitching effectively. You can read the game recap here. This weekend it has been kind of demoralizing to be a Baltimore fan. If you were at Camden Yards and rooted for the black and the orange, you were outnumbered -- perhaps in the ratio of 80/20, or 85/15 in favor of the Boston fans.I know a lot of hate the Red Sox fans who either drive or fly from New England and also have joined the happy, Grateful Dead/Rolling Stones/Pearl Jam-like bandwagon; nevertheless, much of what we have seen th...
Starting Tomorrow!
2008-06-01 20:36:00
Tomorrow I start in my new job. I’m looking forward to starting there, it’s gonna be a new challenge for me. To be honest, when I finished college I didn’t expect to go into a management role, instead I was expecting to head down the accounting route since that’s the area I’ve specialised in for ...

There are these points I come across in my life where I get scared. Life is so good I get afraid the bottom might fall out. You know the feeling? Things are going well and something sneaks in and worries you that it won’t last. Well, the other day it happened. We had gotten a ...

I’m finally after getting a job.  It’s not what I expected to end up getting, but I’m glad I have it.  I got a job as a supervisor in the new Spar store opening in Waterford.  I’ve never worked as a supervisor before, so it’s going to nice to try something different for a change. Last ...

Here’s something I thought I’d never ever hear. Clay Aiken is going to be a father.  Okay I’ll give you a moment to recover because I know I needed one too. As the character Berta in “Two and Half Men” told Alan once, “Zippy life is always easier once you figure out if you’re the pin ...
You could call me gullible
2008-05-30 15:37:00
I trust people. Sometimes that is one of my good traits. Sometimes it is one of my downfalls.Yesterday I had a face to face with the boy who was supposed to take care of my dogs last weekend. I explained to him how I didn't understand how he could have been in the house and not smelled anything. I explained to him how if the dogs were being fed then there should have been no food left in their containers - that was why I left instructions how to pick up more just in case he needed it.I told him how the floors could be replaced, but that my heart was broken thinking about how hungry and neglected my dogs were last weekend. I told him how disappointed I was that he had let me down.At that point, I thought that he was going to cry. He looked straight at me, never glanced away, and said with very watery eyes, that he promised he had fed them and played with them. He promised that they got let out and got their medicines. He said he was really sorry about the floors. Very very sorry.I ...

1. It's never made sense to me why an employer isn't allowed to say anything bad about a former employee when called to verify previous employment. If said former employee has listed former employer as a job reference and happened to be a shitty ass worker, the employer isn't allowed to say so. Does that make one lick of sense to you? Yeah, me either.2. I have a video poker slot machine game on my new phone -(did I tell you I got a new phone? Dude, I think I forgot..I got a Blackberry Curve! It's fabulous. I absolutely adore it. So hey, if you try to call my cell and don't get through, you're probably calling the old number. Shoot me an email and I'll update you)- and it talks crap to me whenever I lose. Like, "Can't you play?" "Loser!" "Better luck next time" blah blah. But uh..it's a game of chance. It makes no sense for it to talk crap to me. It's not like I can do anything about the fact that it dealt me an Ace when I needed a King, right? 3. Why is it that ...
A NIGHT OF JAZZ
2008-05-27 06:36:00
Last Saturday after the church service, my friend Rolly and I went to join other friends at the Bahay Ligaya Restaurant somewhere in White Plains. There was an enchanting event produced by Norman Castillo - A Night of Jazz. Let me tell you, the food was superb! Love it! The place was so inviting, so cozy, so much like home. I'm not fond of jazz, really, but I know when someone CAN sing. Lovely voices, jazz singers Stella Ignacio and Fil-Jap Aisaku. I was so impressed with how good they scat. Wow! A guy who's far more senior than most of us, still very much good looking, Poch Suzarra, plays the drums excellently. Oh goodness, Mr. Marcie Estrella is an ace when it comes to playing the harmonica. Believe me, I was surrounded by beautiful and gifted people. The event was made alive by the very talented Jada. Indeed, it was a night to remember.Stella and PochJada and Norman

When people find out I moved back to Indianapolis from sunny Arizona, they always ask Why? Here’s one of four reasons – the fourth grandchild. Boston Fans Get A Bad Name

Mr. Richard's unwavering curiosity
2008-05-11 15:50:00
It's not even 10:00 AM and I've already had my Mother's Day card, present, and breakfast. Gone are the days when a celebratory breakfast didn't even dream of starting until after CBS Sunday Morning.Bird was a very sweet boy and got me a card and a trip to the Aveda Spa. Smart little guy.We tried to go to the Farmer's Market for breakfast, but they weren't open yet. That's how early we were out and about this morning. Making the most of Bird's awake time.Instead, we ate at the iHop near the college campus here in town. Usually it is slammed on a Sunday morning, but we learned that it's still pretty empty at 7:00.Our waiter was a ridiculously friendly man whose nametag read "Mr. Richard." He cooed over Christopher, commented on our sling, and asked how much he weighed at birth. In fact, he had many questions about his birth and other things. Throughout our breakfast, he asked:"Was it a difficult birth?""Did it take you a long time?""How much did you dilate on your own?""Why di...

THANKFUL THURSDAY
2008-05-02 03:37:00
Okay, I got my new phone the other day but I found out that it was defective. So I had to call the cell phone company that issued me the phone to replace it. They agreed only later they called back to inform me that they didn't have an available unit of the same model and asked if I wanted a different brand. I said no, not unless they'd replace it with an iPhone. Yeah, I know, I was being a bit difficult, but I was nice really. They promised to do eveything they can to find me a replacement for my N95 and would get back to me as soon as possible. I guess that's settled. Anyway, tomorrow would be a whole new day for me because I'd be in a new office, my own office space, my own room actually. There still has a lot of work to do but it's alright. Oh, did I tell you that I have four plants at my balcony? One pot is a horsetail bamboo and the three others are from the family of carnation. I don't know what they're called. I'll take a picture of them later on. I wanted a pup or a...
