Randy Moss Back With Patriots For 3 years, $27 Million, with $12 Million Si
2008-03-03 23:43:00 From "Sox And Dawgs" - New England Patriots free agent wide receiver Randy Moss has agreed to terms to return to the Patriots. The contract is 3 years for $27 million, with a $12 million signing bonus. It is not known at this time how much guaranteed money was added in the value of the contract.Moss came to New England in 2007 on a draft day trade with Oakland for a fourth round draft pick. He played for $3 million plus incentives under a restructured contract in which saw him catch almost 100 balls and set a NFL record with 23 TD catches. In addition to two seasons in Oakland the five-time Pro-Bowler was drafted by the Minnesota Vikings out of Marshall University in the first round of the 1998 NFL Draft.
Eagles made Randy Moss an offer.
2008-03-03 22:16:00 Not sure how much truth there is behind this, but the Philadelphia Daily News is reporting that Eagles coach Andy Reid spoke with Patriots WR Randy Moss today about joining the Eagles. Randy Moss, Daunte Culpepper Reunion?
2008-03-02 18:23:00 Randy Moss continues to explore all options in his first professional exposure to free agency. March 1st, Randy came up with an interesting idea. He reached out to Daunte Culpepper, his former quarterback with the Minnesota Vikings. The two former teammates discussed the possibility of finishing what they started in Minnesota on any NFL team interested, sources told ESPN.com. Randy Moss has 774 catches, 12,193 receiving yards and 124 touchdown receptions. He's been to six Pro Bowls. Moss set an NFL record by catching 23 touchdown passes from Tom Brady this season. This will be his 11th season, so lets see what he comes out with.
Whats left of Free Agency: WR Randy Moss?
2008-03-02 15:08:00 With Wide Receivers like Bernard Berrian (Vikings), Donte Stallworth (Browns), and Jerry Porter (Jaguars) signing over the weekend, there isn't much left for the Bucs to extend a contract to. Even WR Devery Henderson has re-uped with the Saints (thank goodness). That leaves a handful of options left on the open market: #1: WR Randy Moss - He's the best receiver on this years market, but after Bernard Berrian reeled in a 6 year 42 million dollar deal, with $16 Million of it guarenteed, we both know the Bucs won't go that far with Randy Moss and I'm not sure that they should. #2: WR Bryant Johnson - This signing won't make a single fan excited for next season, but he would make more of an impact than any Rookie in next months NFL Draft (ANY ROOKIE). #3: WR Javon Walker - I think Javon is the biggest wildcard of all... Is he healthy? How much is he wanting to be paid? Is he a cancer to a Football Squad? Without knowing how much he expects to be paid, its hard to advocate the Bu...

Why Are Randy Moss & The Patriots Playing Hardball With Each Other?
2008-03-01 10:44:00 During the 2007 season, Randy Moss set the single season record for TD receptions, and Tom Brady set the single season record for TD passes, so why is Randy a free agent right now? Randy Moss in College; 90-Yard Screen Pass To TD Video
2008-02-11 07:12:00 For those who wondered what talent Randy Moss showed at Marshall that caused him to go in the first round of the NFL Draft, here's a good look. This video should be the measure of all wide receivers coming out of college to the NFL. If you can find a senior receiver who made a play like this, put him or her on your list. Check this out!
WOW. JUST WOW
2008-02-04 04:34:00 I don't even know what to say. I can't believe the Patriots lost. I can't believe they lost to Eli Manning. I mean seriously. Did that really happen? Did Tom Brady lose to Eli Manning? I guess that commercial is finally right. "Unstoppable. Eli Manning is."New York's defense was excellent. They did the one thing that you have to do not just against Brady but any QB. Get consistent pressure on him. They sold out on the blitz all night long and it worked. They decided that if they were going to lose then they were going to lose being aggressive and in the end that's why they won. Their defense was just awesome.New England on the other hand looked average. I guess that's what happens when you aren't cheating. Randy Moss wasn't a factor even though he scored a TD. They pretty much abandoned the run and their defense wasn't nearly as aggressive as New York's. The Giants just wanted it more. New England played the game like it was just inevitable that they were going 19-0 and yo...
Super bowl Sunday: Pay close attention to WR Randy Moss
2008-02-01 03:52:00 Not that anyone has to be told this, especially Football Fans, but you may want to pay close attention to the Super Bowl on Sunday if you're a Bucs Fan. Not because the Patriots could go UNDEFEATED, not because the team who beat the Bucs in the first Round of the Playoffs could turn out to be Super Bowl Champions, and certainly not because of the ridiculous commercials that will run throughout the telecast. No, you should watch in order to keep a close eye on the one Wide Receiver the Bucs truly have a chance of signing this off-season: Randy Moss Sure Randy's publicly talked about wanting to return to the Patriots. Sure Quarterback Tom Brady has said, wherever Randy Moss goes, I too will go. Sure, Randy Moss now has a primary residence in the Boston area. Plain and Simple, Randy Moss made 2.5 million this season. He will turn 31 years old in less than two weeks. He has one more shot at banking before he finishes his NFL Career. In steps Bucs GM Bruce Allen. Give it to Allen, he ...

Random Musings - Randy Moss, Rich Rodriguez, Peter Angelos and More!
2008-01-20 07:47:00 I bought a new coffee maker today ($10 at Market Basket). I've had 24 cups of coffee in the last two hours (gotta get my $10 worth), so you'll have to forgive me if I'm a little scatter-brained.It doesn't help that the Patriots game tomorrow has me feeling like a little kid on Christmas eve.I couldn't sleep tonight if I wanted to...The constant pacing back and forth across the bedroom has my wife ready to file for divorce, so I figured I'd quit that for a while and write an old fashioned Random Musings column.Click here for the rest of the column.
The NFL Picks Column: Conference Championship Edition
2008-01-17 06:20:00 NFL Conference Championship weekend, Patriots playing at home, Peyton Manning watching himself during the commercial breaks on TV from home, Brett Favre has a chance to go to another Super Bowl, and (most importantly) SeanMC has graduated from Analyst to Columnist here at Bleacher Report! It just doesn?t get any better than this. I?m assuming this promotion comes with a significant pay raise. I?ll have to speak to the editors later this week. (Who runs this place, anyway?) I think 20% would be about right. (What?s 20% of $0?) To celebrate my promotion, I decided to go all classy and light up a fancy cigar (Don Pepin Garcia-Black label) and crack open an expensive bottle of wine (Sutter Home Merlot, bottled in the scenic?umm?Wal-Mart vineyards). That?s right, a $10 cigar and a $4 bottle of wine. Giddy-up! Click here for the rest of the column.

Statement Game
2007-12-10 02:46:00 What a fun game to watch. From Brady trash talking Anthony Smith and James Harrison after that first Moss touchdown to that ridiculous double-lateral TD pass to Gaffney, it was entertaining from start to finish.Someone just checking box scores after the game would think that the Steelers had some success running the ball. And they did, but not when it mattered. Good bounce-back performance for the Pats' linebacking core.I thought the Steelers came in with a pretty good game plan. They were greatly aided by some aggressive play calling in the 2nd quarter. Going for it on 4th down twice to get into field goal range probably kept them in the game longer than they would have stayed in it otherwise.10 Observations from the game:1) The Patriots defensive line had a really good bounce-back game. They were able to put pressure on Roethlisberger and keep Parker contained for most of the game.2) When Mike Vrabel wants to get to the quarterback, he?s nearly unstoppable. He bothered Roethlisbe...
Subject: Randy Moss shut down... - by: GoTalkSports
2007-11-28 00:00:00 However, unlike in years past, he did not Shut Down as he usually does whenever he is kept in check for most the night. On a typical night where Randy Moss is being well covered and limited in catches, you will notice him turn things down a notch or two and begin to half-ass his routes and make little effort on blocks. But not last night. Moss appeared to give 100% of himself on each down. Whether the play was to him or not. He gave great upfield blocks on both running and passing plays and helped Wel...
It?s the New England Patriots, and everyone else?
2007-11-19 14:58:00 The New England Patriots are showing no mercy to any opponent, not even the Buffalo Bills, a team for which coach Bill Belichick has publicly expressed affection. Mike Silver, Dodo Bird - Mike Silver Admits Error Regarding Randy Moss
2007-10-31 10:47:00 Hey, I like Mike Silver's work more than most for personal reasons, plus he's good. But Sil really messed up on Randy Moss. I told him before the start of the year Moss would do well in New England, but Silver remained stuboorn. Well, Silver's finally coming around. He even admitted he was being a Dodo bird about the whole thing! Not that I think the Patriots will win against the Colts. I don't thnk so.
Randy Moss "Smartest Receiver I've Ever Coached" - Bill Belichick
2007-10-30 23:01:00 When people would talk about Randy Moss in negative terms, I replied on more than one occasion, that he was smart and offensive coordinators would be intelligent to talk with him.Of course, many were not.Enter New England Patriots' Coach Bill Belichick. Coach Belichick -- I believed -- would allow Randy Moss to be, well, Randy Moss. The Oakland Raiders did not understand how to get the best out of him and seemed to be all too concerned about controlling him and not giving him the best environment he needed to play in. There are some people who can't get passed skin color and see a person's talent. They let stereotypes block their thinking -- not Bill Belichick. He called Randy Moss the "Smartest Receiver I've Ever Coached." Hat's off to him.

Fantasy Player Spotlight on Randy Moss
2007-09-11 02:40:00 Many fantasy football players questioned how Randy Moss would fit into the Patriots explosive offense. After week 1 the answer is very apparent. He fits perfectly. After showing great poise with 9 receptions, 183 yards and a TD, he has silenced his critics. At least for this week.If Randy Moss can continue to play football this way he will no doubt be a top 5 fantasy receiver this season. Will Moss be able to open up the Chargers strong defense next week? In the past Randy Moss hasn't been very successful against the Chargers, but that is partly due to the Oakland Raiders bad play.Regardless of the defense it may be wise to plug Randy Moss into your starting line-up if you haven't already
NFL Notes - Vince Young, Randy Moss, Daunte Culpepper
2007-08-02 13:56:00 Daunte Culpepper, QB, Oak - You've probably heard, but Culpepper signed a one-year deal with the Raiders. With JaMarcus Russell still holding out and the only other QB options in Oakland being Andrew Walter and Josh McCown, it's likely that Culpepper will start the season as the starter in Oakland. He's a better fantasy option than Russell or McCown, but these are still the Raiders after all so he has a ceiling. The Raiders will be throwing the ball a lot though, so Culpepper's worth a draft pick as a #2 QB in a 14 team or larger league. Randy Moss, WR, NE - Moss left practice with a groin/hamstring injury yesterday which is never a good sign, but is an especially bad sign considering how dinged up Moss has been the past few years. Don't panic but it's something worth keeping an eye on. Chad Scott, DB, NE - Defensive back Chad Scott injured his knee and is out for the season. The Pats had hoped Scott would step in to the starting spot while...

A Viking's take on the Packers
2007-07-12 23:49:00 Well, here is Railbird Central's first real sports related interview, with Complete Sports Blogger and Minnesota Vikings fan Jon Reed. No that isn't him in the picture.1. Toward the end of the season, the Packers' offense greatly improved. Now, offensive coordinator Jeff Jagodzinski has left to become the Head Coach at Boston College. How much will his departure hurt the Packers' offensive developement?Well I think the fact that they promoted within with Joe Philbin should help. They have a lot of young pieces on offense (especially on the Line) and the ability to maintain some sense of continuity should help. So I think there is always a learning curve when a new coordinator comes in (which has been painfully obvious to me as a Vikings fan), but the fact that they kept it in house should help.2. Should Brett Favre have retired? He's only 37, but some believe that his time has passed. What's your take?In all honesty, I thought the should have retired before last season. Let me... |
