High Fuel Prices
2008-05-16 22:26:00 With the long weekend upon us you?re bound to hear a plethora of opinions and complaints about how the government and oil companies are gauging the poor working man. At some point during these many rants someone always suggests (in a very confident manner) that the government should be doing something about these prices. Although I agree that it would be nice if someone magically made fuel prices cheaper I don?t think it?s practical, realistic or appropriate to expect governments to do this. Since oil is a global commodity what exactly should the government be doing to protect us poor Canadians from high fuel prices? Maybe they could eliminate the gas tax altogether? Sounds like a great idea but then where are they going to make up that revenue? Maybe spend less on hospitals, schools etc? Or perhaps they could initiate a communist style business policy and claim the private owned oil companies as government property? This obviously isn?t a reasonable option either.In my opinion if ...

My Crappy Past Few Days Rant

We've known for awhile considering that the tumor on her side has grown to larger then the size of a grapefruit. She's a rather small dog but has been handling it okay. Well the entire weekend she's been getting worse and worse, having trouble breathing, walking, etc. She's not yet at the point where she needs to be put down, but she's getting close. Today she snuck out of the house when someone opened the door and she ran down the block, where a nice guy brought her back. Every day I wake up hoping that she's still alive and frankly it's exhausting and heart breaking. On top of that it's emotionally draining watching your dog slowly dying and not being able to do anything to make it better.To top it off, my dog sings. 2008-05-05 21:13:00 Here?s my rant?. Realtors who don?t post the true status of their listing in the MLS. In Ann Arbor there are two companies in particular that don?t post the status. It shows active. But, it is under contract, just not all the contingencies have been removed. After the contingencies are removed it goes to Pending. When Realtor.com started our board came up with a status called CTS. It means Continue to Show, but there is an offer. Then it keeps the house on the national web-sites. If you see a home that is CTS, you can do several things: 1) Call the listing agent and ask how far along is the transaction? 2) What contingencies are left? 3) Does it look like it will go through? 4) Do you have any concerns about the present offer? 5) Decide intelligently based on the information whether to show or not to show.
