Video: Ray Allen?s Behind The Back Half Court Shot

If Ray was half as effective in the actual games like he appears to be in practice….Kobe Bryant would have something to worry about. But since he isn’t…enjoy this circus moment.
NBA Championship: Celtics-Lakers Preview?A Lot Can Happen in a Year
2008-06-05 05:29:00
I remember vividly being in a bar in New Jersey, just over a year ago. The Red Sox were playing the Yankees, I was in an argument with one of the many Yankee fans at the bar over which team had a better pitching staff, and one of the TVs on the far side of the bar had the NBA draft coverage. I tried not to get my hopes up, but the Celtics had gone through such a bad season. Paul Pierce was hurt, the team suffered through a ridiculous eighteen game losing streak, and the NBA?s stupid policy of not giving the number one pick in the draft to the regular season?s worst team had me extremely worried. I had visions of the number one pick. I had visions of the next Tim Duncan. This time, it was our year. This time, the ping-pong balls would fall the right way. If the NBA was willing to freeze an envelope to ensure the Knicks would get a chance to draft Patrick Ewing, surly they?d do something to ensure one of their marquee franchises got the first or second pick in a top-heavy draft. E...
2008 NBA Finals Preview
2008-06-03 07:35:00
On Thursday night the Lakers and Celtics will face off in a historical rematch of the NBA's two most storied franchises in the 2008 NBA finals. Both teams entered the playoffs as the number one seed in their conference. The Lakers came out of the Western Conference by leaning on Kobe Bryant?s MVP skills and Paul Gasol down low. The Celtics are led by the trio of Kevin Garnett, Paul Pierce and Ray Allen. Here comes some position breakdowns and analysis.Homecourt AdvantageBoth teams are good at home but I can't go against the Garden. Their rowdy fans will have the team fired up and ready to win.Advantage: CelticsPoint GuardRajon Rondo vs. Derek FisherObviously Derek Fisher has the clear advantage when it comes to experience, he has won 3 NBA Championships and played in 148 career playoff games and Rajon Rondo has won 0 championships and played in only 20 career playoff games. This is an interesting match up because neither player is one of the best players on their respective teams bu...
Celtics Win Eastern Conference: Bring On The Lakers!
2008-06-02 02:02:00
Before I start, I want to thank the Papa Joe radio show (KLAV, 1230 out of Las Vegas) for having me on today to discuss the ?honorable? Senator from the great state of Comcast, Arlen Specter. It was fun, my first time on a radio show as a guest. Nerve racking, but fun. They should have a link to the show on their site tomorrow. If you get a chance to listen, let me know how I did. 8:39 PM: Rip Hamilton is playing, which is big for Detroit. We?ll see how he does. Hey, the Pistons won the tip for the first time this series. They must be serious. 8:42 PM: Ray Allen missed a three, but at least he shot the ball. First foul of the game?on Rondo. Billups missed?that?s odd. By the way, I?m halfway through my first Sam Adams Boston Ale, and Ray Allen just drained a three!! Good signs everywhere early! 8:44 PM: By the way, I still haven?t accepted Ray Allen back into the Big Three, nor have I fixed my keyboard yet. Two minutes and twenty four seconds of basketball, four calle...
Ray Allen llega a tiempo
2008-05-29 16:19:00

Ray Allen: What’s the problem?
2008-05-19 15:09:00
The Big Three, right now, is the Big Two. Ray Allen has barely played a bit role since midway through the Atlanta series. The four points he scored in Game 7 last night was indicative of the last two-plus weeks. He can’t get open. Why? Is the problem the Celtics don’t really have a low-post presence? Remember, most of Kevin Garnett’s ...
Celtics 76, Cavaliers 72: Garnett Dominates, LeBron Lets One Slip Away in B
2008-05-08 06:07:00
I?ve decided that the normal, beat-writer type game recaps are, frankly, boring. It?s not that everyone on Bleacher Report isn?t doing a fantastic job, because they are. And to tell you the truth, I?m far more likely to read a playoff game recap on Bleacher Report than anywhere else. It?s just that I, personally, suck at writing them. I bore myself, and my goal is certainly not to fall asleep while writing my own articles. If I want to fall asleep while sitting at my computer, I?ll read Peter King. That said, I still want to win this contest. I?m insanely competitive and desperately want a shiny new Rajon Rondo jersey. So I?ve decided that rather than trying to emulate a boring Boston Globe beat writer, I'm just going to write whatever the heck it is that I'm thinking after the game. I might not even wait until I sober up.Hopefully this will end up being a more enjoyable style of playoff recap. If not, please read them anyway. My Mel Kiper Jr. picture and I are broke. Game 1...
Air Jordan 23 (XX3 or XXIII) - Ray Allen PE (Celtics)
2008-04-27 00:00:00
Much like the Air Jordan 8 (VIII) - Sugar Ray & Q-Rich PE's, once again Ray Allen gets an exclusive pair of Air Jordan. Jordan Brand has created this Air Jordan 23 (XX3 or XXIII) for Jordan Brand athlete, Ray Allen. The Air Jordan 23 (XX3 or XXIII) - Ray ...
Celtics-Hawks: Celtics Dominate Hawks, Take 2-0 Series Lead
2008-04-24 05:49:00
If you?re going to call out the opposing team?s fans, the least you could do is not get repeatedly schooled by a second year point guard. If you?re going to claim that Kendrick Perkins has no right to question your game one performance, the least you could do is not follow it up with the same type of performance in game two.Mike Bibby succeeded in doing one thing?he gave the Boston crowd something to boo. God knows the Celtics haven?t given them reason to this season.Rajon Rondo continued his impressive playoff debut, filling up the stat sheet with twelve points, six rebounds, eight assists, and four steals. Kevin Garnett took control of Wednesday night's game early and never let go, finishing with his fifteenth straight playoff double-double (nineteen points and ten rebounds). Atlanta made an effort to come out more aggressive in game two, and they were successful in adding some physicality that was missing in game one. For the first five minutes, it seemed to be working.Paul Pi...
Q&A with Steve Weinman
2008-04-23 21:58:00
I’m still a little too shocked and appalled to talk about the Bulls season without inserting profanity between every other word. So, while Chris breaks down the Bulls roster, I talked to a guy whose team is still in the playoffs, Steve Weinman. Steve used to cover the NBA for MVN, and now he’s doing the ...
The East Beats The West, Lebron Steals Ray Allen?s MVP Award
2008-02-18 20:42:00
The Eastern conference beat the Western conference in the NBA All-Star Game 134 to 128. Lebron James won the MVP although a decent amount of fans felt Ray Allen should have gotten it. Lebron played 30 minutes and had 27 points, 8 rebounds, and 5 assists. He needed 22 shots to get those 27 points. Ray ...
Celtics Crush The Heat
2008-01-30 04:38:00
The Boston Celtics, minus Kevin Garnett and Ray Allen, managed to win in convincing fashion against the Miami Heat. "Leon Powe scored a career-high 25 points with 11 rebounds, Rajon Rondo tied a career-high with 23 points, and Tony Allen scored 20 points with six assists to lead the NBA-best Celtics to an overwhelming 117-87 victory Tuesday night over the Heat -- who followed the win that snapped their 15-game losing streak with an absolute clunker."http://sports.espn.go.-com/nba/recap?gameId=280129014I- love it. I'm a big Celtics fan and I'm so giddy about their chances at a title. Tonight's game shows that it's not all about the big 3. Boston has other players that can step up an contribute. That's key when the playoffs start because Boston can't just be a 3 man team if they're to win a championship. The role players have to step up as well and tonight they showed that they were up to the task. Yes, Miami isn't exactly a powerhouse this year but it was a road game and to see...

Maybe the Bulls should be the ones to emulate the Blazers
2008-01-03 23:48:00
The Bulls should be honored that the Portland Trail Blazers have based their rebuilding plan on John Paxson?s strategy, as the Blazers GM said in today?s Sam Smith column. Kevin Pritchard wanted to build through the draft and bring in good character guys that worked hard, just as the Bulls did, starting with Kirk ...
Lamar Odom and Ray Allen Scuffle! Odom Suspended
2008-01-01 22:43:00
Look what he did in last night's game against the Celtics...(I didn't like Kobe's reaction either) In result, Odom is suspended one game with out pay! He deserves to be suspended for about 20 games. This is absolutely ridiculous and there is no need for this unnecessary roughness in the game of basketball. Where is the integrity and respect for the sport?!?!A few games ago Lamar Odom was clapping in the face of Jarred Jack from the Atlanta Hawks after the ball was called to the Lakers. I can't believe what he did. This one is even worse than the altercation between Ray Allen. Lamar Odom thinks he's so good huh?
Beat LA (like a drum)
2007-12-31 09:30:00
The Celtics just completed a 4-0 west coast trip with a shellacking of the LA Lakers.Couple of quick observations:Kobe was awful. Too many bad shots. Lamar Odom is a thug. Also, he can?t cover KG.Andrew Bynum is better than I remember him. He?s also bigger. Looks like they got him on the Yankee program, if you know what I mean.Paul Pierce is playing out of his mind. Having KG and Ray Allen to share the offensive load has apparently freed up enough energy for him to be dominant on both ends of the floor. I can?t remember the last time I saw a player get 3 steals on consecutive possessions. Apparently, No Blood, No Foul doesn?t apply in LA. Apparently, when you get shoulder-checked into the bench, it?s a foul if you land on your own ass. That?s the only explanation I can come up with on why Ray Allen was called for a foul on that Odom play. When Ray Allen is on, his shot falls from anywhere and everywhere.Since the Detroit loss, the Celtics have been playing their best ball of the seas...
Blogging Celtics - Enjoying the Kevin Garnett Era
2007-12-19 06:03:00
It?s hard being the typical negative sports writer in Boston these days. The Red Sox are World Series champions. The Patriots are only the second team in NFL history to start a season 14-0. The Bruins, I?ve been told, are playing pretty well. The Revolution are the MLS?s version of the Buffalo Bills. Boston College was ranked as high as 2 this season in the BCS. The Celtics are 20-2.That?s right, the Celtics are 20-2.Not since Tommy Heinsohn was a player has a Celtics team started 20-2. Of course, when Tommy Heinsohn was a player that kind of start was expected. Back then, it didn?t just seem like the Celtics won championships every season, they DID win championships every season.Ever since Len Bias decided Cocaine was more important than playing professional basketball the Celtics have been in a seemingly unending downward spiral. In no particular order, the following things have happened to the Celtics since 1986.1) Larry Bird?s bad back ? probably cut his career short by 5 years....
Best Damn Talks to Ray Allen
2007-12-12 05:30:00
Ray Allen recently appeared on the Best Damn Sports Show Period, via satellite from Boston, Massachusetts. Ray discussed how great it is to play for a storied franchise like the Celtics and wear the throwback jerseys in a recent game. He also discussed his acting gigs such as He Got Game. Ray said that he was being trash-talked by Spike Lee during a Knicks-Bucks game early in his career. Spike eventually talked to Ray about auditioning for the part. Ray talked about how intimidating it was to work with a legendary actor like Denzel Washington. In "Get to Know Ray Allen" Ray said he never received Allan Ray's paycheck when they were teammates. Ray said his 1 bad habit is singing, because he can't do it too well. He also once painted his toenails purple for a playoff run in Milwaukee. Ray discussed an interesting campaign being done by Vitamin Water and NBA players on December 19th too. The December 19th promotion which involves players like Ray Allen, T-Mac, Shaq, Dwight Ho...
Who'd You Pick To Shoot The Game Winner...Pierce or Ray Allen?
2007-11-30 21:54:00
I don't understand why the Boston Celtics always design last second shots for Paul Pierce. He's had three buzzer beater attempts this season missing all three. Ray Allen has had two game winning buzzer beaters for the Celtics this season but none of them were designed for him. Garnett had to fight for the offensive rebounds and dish out back to Allen to win the game for them and he did. Don't ever design a game winning buzzer beater for Pierce, they're never close. And why would you do that when you have Ray Allen on the team?
Ray Allen with the amazing buzzer-beater three for the win!

Subplots to get you ready for the season: LeBron James
2007-10-20 18:32:00
Despite the rumors swirling around the media, a trade for Kobe Bryant is unlikely. The asking price seems a tad bit high for John Paxson?s liking. Still, the Bulls don?t need Bryant to win the Eastern Conference. The additions of Ray Allen, Kevin Garnett, Zach Randolph, Rashard Lewis, etc. don?t change the fact that the East ...
Links of the day --
2007-08-15 17:41:00
If you were one of the few people at work yesterday and wondered why all the guys called in sick, here's why; Madden 08 was released, ready to quench the video game gridiron thirst of geeks and dorks around the country (myself included.) My wife, who really has just accepted the fact that her husband; still plays video games, gets a little too excited about things like a new Ninja Turtles or Spider-man movie, and has forgotten more random useless facts than most humans will ever know, now has another object to distract my attention. Explaining the nuances of Madden's 30 year franchise mode and the importance of setting my fake team's ticket and concession prices, I can almost see the wheels turning inside her head as she says to herself "this is the man I married."And so, our TV is once again caught in its annual fall struggle. Grey's Anatomy vs Madden.McDreamy doesn't stand a chance. Here are the links:This is what happens when you let athletes (in this case, Houston Rocket Sha...
No more crush at the top of the East - Celts are new favorites
2007-08-08 03:26:00
It’s been more than a week since my last confession. I admit it… I somewhat hoped - though never believed - that the Bulls would do something in response to the Celtics’ acquisition of Kevin Garnett. Perhaps that’s the root of the delay; or perhaps (perhaps more likely, I should say) I’m just lazy. Either way, the ...

Ray Allen? Ainge and C’s had better be right
2007-06-29 05:52:00
I’m confused. Ray Allen is a shooting guard, a great one. Paul Pierce is a shooting forward, probably a great one. Is this the veteran the Celtics believe will lead them to two levels from where they are now? I hope so. This is a bold move and I like bold moves. But they had better work. ...
Ray Allen Joins Paul Pierce In Boston; First Round Playoff Exit Awaits
2007-06-29 05:02:00
"New Sonics' general manager Sam Presti pulled off a stunning set of moves during the early stages of Thursday night's NBA draft, sending Ray Allen and the 35th overall pick in Thursday's second round to Boston for Wally Szczerbiak, Delonte West and the No. 5 pick. Boston selected Georgetown
