Cheap Vacation Destinations? [Ask The Readers]
2008-06-03 01:00:00

70% of readers believe the garbage in surveys. Really. (Trevor Cook)
2008-06-02 09:12:00
Today's media contain a bonanza of survey stories, that ever-popular staple of the public relations tool box. Surveys are great PR because, as well as generating media coverage, they give third-party endorsement to an organisation's key messages.BankWest wins today's prize for the most successful PR effort with its very serious sounding "BankWest Key Worker Housing Affordability report". BankWest retail chief executive Ian Corfield got some fabulous coverage across radio and television including a segment on the Channel Nine Today show that bordered on a shameless promotion of BankWest products. The BankWest survey may not tell us anything particularly new but it is formulated in a very media-friendly way. Housing affordability is a red hot issue and focusing on respected people like nurses and firemen makes it seem almost like a serious policy paper. Added to this, the story lends itself easily to state-specific coverage, always popular with editors. We don'...

Why are more and more readers coming from America?
2008-05-29 19:39:00
It’s been ages since I looked at the detailed stats for this blog so it was something of a surprise that one place reckoned that 75% of the readership is in America. I say one place because one place reckoned that as low as 25% were from there and that 16% were from India. Of course, that’s ...
GMBMFB Readers: is there anything you want to know?
2008-05-28 21:06:00
So ... I was thinking. All I do is write about what I want to write about. And the daily happenings in my life. Multiple posts per day, all day, every day. Is it getting boring? It seems boring to me when I'm writing it ... but my readership keeps growing, so maybe doing what I'm doing is fine? Should I stay on topic when it comes to personal finance? I feel like sometimes I tend to get sidetracked.I guess I'll open up the floor to you guys.Is there anything you want to know about me? It can be about money and personal finance, or about who I am (not literally who I am) ... if it's too personal, I just won't answer it.Is there anything you want me to blog about in particular?Anything you'd like to see different with this blog?Just wondering... :)

Readers Comments: What Is The Worst Haircut You've Ever Had In Your Life?
2008-05-16 17:43:00
This weeks Tuesday's Question was "What is the worst haircut you're ever had in your life?"I'm sorry for the delay with posting the comments, but I wanted to give everyone a chance to answer. In addition, I received a request from Ferdc from Crazy Medical Cases to show my readers a picture of myself with the worst haircut of my life ... However, how many of you would show an internet picture of yourself after your head had been through a meat grinder by a maniac hairdresser? Therefore, I had my son draw a picture of what I looked like when I returned home from the worst haircut I've ever had in my life. The day of the trauma (the haircut) I walked around the house wondering whether to cut all of my hair off or wear a hat for the rest of my life, that's why I'm holding a hat in one hand and a pair of scissors in the other hand. However, after reading some of these experiences, it's nice to know I'm not alone in the world when it comes to bad hair days. Therefore, thanks to all o...

Are Indian blog readers comment shy ?

I came across an interesting comparison done by Saad Mohammad on his blog oodami. Saad rightly points out that very few Indian blog readers actually leave quality comments. He makes his point by mining the comment statistics from 5 different Indian blogs and compares it with RSS subscribers and post count. Here are the comparison charts. A great job done by Saad to make his point !
