2008-04-09 15:14:00 Joel Pineiro made what may prove to be his final prep Tuesday before returning to the St. Louis Cardinals' rotation, allowing two runs and six hits in six innings for Class AAA Memphis against New Orleans according to the St. Louis Post-Dispatch.Pineiro, slowed during spring training by shoulder tightness, did not receive a decision for the Redbirds but rallied after allowing both runs on three singles and a ground ball in the first inning. Pineiro struck out five consecutive hitters in one stretch. Pineiro walked one in an efficient outing that included 57 strikes among 78 pitches.Club officials have remained cautious in any projections for Pineiro, saying that the performance and how he recovered would dictate whether another start was necessary.
