Recycle those worn out athletic shoes
2009-10-09 23:01:00 It's hard to get rid of perfectly good shoes ... even if they're not perfectly good anymore. I know--I currently have about 4 pairs of old running shoes sitting at home that I never wear. That's not including the ones I keep around for camping or messy occasions. Normally, I'd take them over to Goodwill or donate them elsewhere. The problem with these particular pieces of footwear is that the padding is worn through from running in 'em or they're pretty worn out in general....

This results in a wonderful sounds, especially horns sound amazing. Vince Vijsma, Amsterdam, the Netherlands I remember when I was much younger, I would love to take stuff apart, modify it and put them back together. I actually learnt how to solder wires at 10 or 11 and that help me repair my damaged Radio Control Cars. Luckily I'm a better electrician than a driver! So I was quite tickled when I read about Platform 21's Most Remarkable Repair Contest. The work submitted really resonated with me!

How Can I Recycle This?
2008-10-04 01:20:00 How can I reuse or recycle a children's paddling pool? How can I reuse or recycle old watches? How can I reuse or recycle After Eight mints boxes and wrappers? How can I reuse or recycle old golf balls? How can I reuse or recycle cardboard-backed waffle foam? How Can I Recycle This? Is a Q&A website, where people can answer questions posted by the founders, the couple Louisa Parry and John Leach. 'This site started from a bowl of pistachio nut shells. After we gorged ourselves on their lovely innards, they, the shells, just sat there, looking useful and versatile - but we no idea what we could possibly do with them. Just throwing them on the compost heap seemed a waste - all the effort to make them tough and solid, and here we were just hoping they'd rot back down to mulch before the potatoes needed earthing up.' The site is a free inspiring brainstorming to generate possibilities of reusing everyday items. Minor is that its not made visible how the stuff that surroun...

Recycle Your Gold for a Profit
2008-05-22 00:00:00 Humans pollute the air in many ways, but the single most contaminating activity is mining for gold. According to the EPA, mercury pollution from trash incineration, hazardous waste collection, and mercury mining combined still does not add up to half the total amount of mercury pollution made by gold mining. After the metal has been mined, approximately 63 percent is used in jewelry, 21 percent as coins, 15 percent in industrial use, and the other 1 percent in dental. So anything we can do to reduce this pollution is a welcomed activity.

A Guide On The Compost Bins Types To Recycle
2008-05-16 04:48:00 Composting has become a popular means of recycling organic materials so that they can be used in beneficial ways instead of adding them to a landfill. In addition to being a great way to participate in recycling efforts, composting is also a great way to generate rich organic materials that can be added to soil for organic garden projects. Compost bins provide a simple and easy way to help people get started composting and are particularly good solutions for people who have limited living space. There are a number of different types of composters on the market to meet a variety of needs and situations. Bins for composting can be built from materials that you already have around the backyard, or they can be purchased from garden supply stores, especially those that specialize in organic gardening. In some municipalities, the recycling centers provide bins free or at a reduced cost to encourage people to recycle their organic materials themselves. One variety of compost bins are cal...
