Charlize Theron?s Extremely Unpleasant Past Being Rehashed
2008-01-07 16:29:00
Get your frown on, because this one's tense. The official story is that South African Charlize Theron's mom Gerda shot her father Charles to death with a shotgun when Charlize was fifteen. This occurred on the front lawn. There goes the neighborhood. Charles was allegedly an abusive alcoholic and Gerda was determined to have been acting in self-defense after she claimed Charles threatened to kill both her and Charlize. Charlize doesn't talk about this part of her past except to say that Gerda was a victim of domestic violence. Fair enough. Who'd want to talk about it - that's rough stuff. A new book has come out called "Killer Women: Fatal South African Females", discussing Gerda's case. That is a silly-ass title. In the book, Charles' relatives dispute the facts of the case and make it look like Gerda might have been a little trigger-happy. Charlize's aunt Elsa says that her "mildmannered" brother wouldn't have gone after his wife and kid. She also says that "all those per...

A Pointless 2004 Rehash

Memo to Clark Hoyt based on this ? keep working on your John Edwards coverage; you still don?t have it right.I?m not sure why it is of any importance whatsoever to Kate Zernike of the New York Times that Democratic presidential nominee John Kerry told audiences at campaign stops in 2004 that ?help is on the way,? when John Edwards, campaigning as the vice-presidential nominee said ?hope is on the way? because Edwards wasn?t comfortable with ?help.?Thus begins yet another thinly sourced piece of hit ?journalism? aimed at Edwards in the Times today (and on the front page, no less), portraying him as a cagey opportunist who used his chance on the ticket with Kerry to promote his own eventual presidential bid, questioning his allegiance to Kerry in the process.I would save my disgust only for the Times and Zernike (admitting that covering the ?04 campaign is fair game without the innuendo from a newspaper that, at this point, would probably be doing Edwards a service if it ignored him a...

Below is a post I wrote over two years ago — the fifth post on this blog. At the time, the Phoenix Real Estate Guy had maybe 5 readers (including my immediate family). While I was out with a buyer recently, I had a strange sense of deja vu. Reminded me a lot of this ...
Why I Love Off-Season Rehash
2007-08-08 00:25:00
How glad am I that the season is about to start? Eager is probably a better word for it; I'm tired of the previews, the discussion of off-season moves; I'm just ready to watch football games again. No looking back, just moving forward with the season. I can't wait. But in the twilight of the off-season, I figured it was time for one last rehash of the past eight months or so. Then opportunity knocked: rather than bring all this stuff up myself, Dave Aizer and Brent Popolizio did it for me. These two fine gentlemen run a nice little operation over at Bleacher Bloggers, where instead of listening to what "experts" say, they listen to what bloggers say. Yet the wisdom I (try to) spout here at Rumblings hasn't had much sway on their negative opinions of the Bills. (Of course, Dave is a Jets fan and Brent is a Pats fan. Should I really have expected anything else?) Brent: "Moving on to the Buffalo Bills..." Dave: "They still have a team?" Oh, Dave. Those weren't the Ch...

Does a rehash count as a sequel?I am referring to the film 102 dalmations from walt disney pictures. I had seen 101 dalmations before and found it great. Hoping to have a similar viewing experience, I went and rented out the 102 dalmations. Guess what? 102 Dalmations is a rehash of 101 Dalmations with a few minor changes here and there. In fact, it was like watching 101 dalmations all over again. And the reason struck me only later. Most of the scenes were the same as well. The disney company had used footage from the original in this movie also shooting only a few extra scenes to make the movie look different. Does this count as a sequel. Especially when you consider the large sums being spent on the batman and pirates of the caribbean movies. Imagine the plight of those who purchased tickets to watch this so called sequel and rented out the DVD. If someone did a video diff betwen the original and the sequel, I am sure the difference would be not more than 10 or 15%. Such is the am...

Politics: Couric?s ?Notebook? rehashed debunked Obama rumors
2007-04-14 14:52:00
In the April 12 edition of her “Notebook” video blog, CBS Evening News anchor Katie Couric asked, “Is America ready to elect a president who grew up praying in a mosque?” and proceeded to repeat debunked rumors surrounding Sen. Barack Obama’s (D-IL) childhood years in Indonesia. Couric claimed that Obama’s “background sparked rumors that he had ...

Time Waster Rehash
2007-02-04 10:30:02
I ran across this Time Waster post from last year and it is still a time waster! It is a great Flash game called Monkey Lander from Totebo Online Games. The object is to control you little monkey-piloted flying saucer, trying to capture all the bananas and other fruits and then gently land on this little platform. Oh, you also have to avoid obstacles while fighting gravity and inertia. It is a great little game and if you get past level 6, I want to hear about it!
