Over the last couple of months I have become interested in various types of energy healing, such as Reiki, Quantum Touch, MEL and Chakra Balancing. As with all my ‘little experiments’ I’ll be trying out these one by one. Hello! I'm back from 36 hours at Cuyahoga Valley Environmental Education Center with 15 wonderful and spiritual Reiki people. We shared Reiki treatments with each other - (I realized I haven't had a full hands-on Reiki treatment since February at my Reiki Master class!) - talked a lot about how we came to Reiki, reiki-ed trees, meditated, participated in the global water blessing this morning, and a most wonderful treat is that the leader of our retreat, Carol Spears, played therapeutic harp for us. She even brought some crystal bowls which she incorporated into the music beautifully. It was very uplifiting. (Click on Carol's name for her website with her harp music, crystal bowls, and more.) Mom/Daughter Reiki and Being Starstruck

Yesterday, my almost-9 year-old daughter Rayna came with me to give volunteer Reiki healing at the Reiki center at Ursuline College. Rayna is Reiki level 2, and we channeled Reiki healing together to a person who came in to receive Reiki. It was a strong Reiki experience for our recipient, and all were touched by the presence of a child giving healing energy with her mom. It was good for all of us. Rayna said she wants to do it again next week. And....some exciting news is that I emailed Warren Grossman, the author of a book that's deeply impressed me lately, To Be Healed by the Earth. He lives here in the Cleveland area. I asked him if he would be willing to come and speak to my teen students in the Seeking Connections course I'm teaching. He said yes!!! We set a date for Nov. 13, and he asked me to invite other classes and staff to come too. It's quite perfect for my class, because not only is his story inspiring, but he's also Jewish, and I'm teaching this as a Jewish course...

Dear friends,I have been in touch with Ole Gabrielson, the founder of Kundalini Reiki himself. (Yes, I do feel honored to have been emailing with him - he's amazing.) He has a new 2008 version of Kundalini Reiki that reduces the number of attunements from 9 to only 3, and also the energy is said to be of a stronger and finer frequency than before. I asked him what I would need to do to "upgrade" to the newest version. He said the third attunement would be all I would need. I now have five people that I am attuning to Kundalini Reiki, and it's quite a process! Not because the attunments are difficult; on the contrary, they usually take me about 5-7 minutes to intend and send. It's that a complete Kundalini Reiki attunement has 9 attunements, scheduled weekly after the first two, and so I have to keep track of who gets attunements sent when! With five people, I needed to make a Kundalini Reiki Attunement calendar to keep track of everyone's scheduled times. I have successfully sent attunements at a different time, intending for the attunement to be received at a later time, which I specify while setting my intention. So far, I've only post-dated the attunment time for the same day. But I'm sure that I may be experimenting with post-dating an attunement for a day or two ahead. I Attuned My Grandma to Reiki!

My grandma is 87 years old, though she's really one of those "87 years-young" people. She drives a red sports car, and takes courses, volunteers daily at a Senior Center near her house - walks there - bakes cookies, makes dolls and beaded necklaces, and comes for dinner every Friday night. She's great. I've given her Reiki a few times, and she's liked it and said it helped her. She has recently developed an infection in one leg, and she is taking antibiotics for it. I gave her Reiki a few times, which did help. Yesterday she came over and I attuned her to Reiki and taught her how to call in the energy, and some hand positions for giving herself Reiki treatments. I told her to practice and the sensations would get stronger.I have to admit that my attunement was a little awkward because I had to refer to my manual several times; it's been a while since I've done any. I have been curious about other "flavors" of Reiki for some time, and decided to get attuned to Kundalini Reiki. I received the attunements on a weekly basis for the first three levels. I had the Master level attunement this morning. Over the next six weeks, there will be six "booster" attunements to follow.Some interesting features of Kundalini Reiki are:There are no symbols.There are no hand positions. The hands-on treatment involves placing hands on the shoulders of the recipient and letting the energy flow where it is needed. Today was my husband's graduation from his MBA program. Congratulations, Evan!I went to the graduation ceremony, and grabbed my camera on the way out the door. When I got there, I got seated and took out my camera. I turned it on. It turned itself off. My batteries were dead. I put in my spare pair of batteries. They were dead too. This weekend, I've had some nice time to myself to work on studying and practicing learning Chios Healing. I have to say that I'm finding it much harder than Reiki. Reiki came naturally to me, and it doesn't require any special exercises or abilities. (Maybe that's why it came naturally to me- ha ha ha). I was attuned, and I could immediately feel the difference, channel energy, and benefit from doing self-treatments and sending Reiki. This is especially true for me in terms of Reiki level two. I consider it a miracle when someone's pain goes away. Maybe it's not, maybe it's "all in their head", but going from a migraine to no pain in 15 minutes seems pretty miraculous to me. So today I visited Yen Yen's Happy Hands n Feet Blog to read about her Reiki Miracles."I was in a Buddhist community centre when one of my friends complained of a migraine. Reiki Master Training in One Week!

It's official!! I'm going to take the Reiki Master course - the whole thing - ART and Reiki Master Teacher together next weekend!!!! I can hardly believe it is going to happen. I did speak with Sister Ann Winters of the Sophia Wellness Center at Ursuline College, who is teaching the course there. (By the way, Google her, and you'll see praises up and down from people all over the world who have taken the Reiki Master training with her!). She was gracious enough to let me do a project - creating a Reiki hand position manual - in exchange for a reduction in tuition. That, plus the unexpected increase in article compensation I received notice about on Wednesday (see my previous post), will make the class affordable for me. The timing is too perfect to ignore its implications. On Tuesday, a friend who wanted to learn more about Reiki came over so I could have the welcome opportunity to talk about Reiki to someone who actually wanted to hear me talk about it. I talked all about how I came to learn about Reiki, and how it's become such a large and involved journey in my life. Before she left, I gave her a short hands-on treatment. That was interesting. I started with one hand on top of her head, and the other in the center of her shoulder blades, just below her neck. I felt lots of tingles there, but she didn't feel much. Then I moved my hand on her back lower, and my hand that was on her head hovered lightly over her stomach. She reported that she felt tingles in her feet and up to her knees. I stayed that way for a while, and then put my hands on her knees, and finally on her feet. She felt the Reiki very strongly there, and was very interested in the sensations she was feeling. As a freelance writer, work (and therefore, income) comes in project by project. And sometimes things come in stressfully slowly. This month fit into that category. So yesterday in the late morning, I sat and sent distance Reiki to the "wish" or intention to open the pathways for more work to be offered to me as immediately as possible. At 3:30 pm, I had three new projects in my inbox. None were things I hadn't applied for, but one was from someone I worked with a few months ago, and he was asking me to do two more projects for him, and one was an editor/proofer position I had applied for on a freelance job board - always a long shot. The third was a list of articles to write that I had been waiting for all week. So, thanks Reiki. (Now I had better get organized!)Rayna and I gave my mom hands-0n Reiki last night, because Mom's back was sore. In less than 15 minutes, my mom's back felt all better. She wowed the whole time about how hot our hands were and how good the Reiki felt....
