The Urination Relativism

From the New York Post: (h/t – Instapundit) For our part, we?re withholding judgment. There have been too many such seemingly shocking episodes that, upon investigation, turn out to be less than that. The high-profile case of Marine Lt. Ilario Pantano ? accused of murdering Iraqis, but exonerated late last year ? certainly illustrates the ...
Is There Reality in Truth?
2008-03-14 14:05:00
In the book, If Aristotle Ran General Motors, author Tom Morris writes, “Truth is just that mapping of reality that corresponds to the way things are.” I find this a very interesting concept and am in total agreement. Mr. Morris is basically saying that ?truth? equals ?reality.? Therefore, truth would be an ...

No, today's article is not about Einstein's Theory of Relativity. Please visit the provided link, if that is what you were looking for. For those of you that know what my writings are really about, or those just visiting and wanting to learn more about what it means to live as Christ follower, I invite you to read on.Today's article is about moral relativism. "What is that??!!", you ask? Moral Relativism is defined by Wikipedia as In philosophy, moral relativism is the position that moral or ethical propositions do not reflect objective and/or universal moral truths, but instead make claims relative to social, cultural, historical or personal circumstances. Moral relativists hold that no universal standard exists by which to assess an ethical proposition's truth; it is the opposite of moral absolutism. Relativistic positions often see moral values as applicable only within certain cultural boundaries or in the context of individual preferences. An extreme relativist position mig...
Abrams on Amanpour’s ‘Moral Relativism’

CNN’s Dan Abrams has strongly criticized the Christiane Amanpour series “God’s Warriors,” calling it: …a defense of Islamic fundamentalism and the worst type of moral relativism. CAMERA.org has the video: CAMERA: MSNBC’s Dan Abrams Slams ‘CNN’s Holy War’. Original post by http://littlegreenfootballs.com-/weblog/?entry=26896&only&a-mp;rss

Of everything that I have read, heard, or seen on this subject this presentation very possibly stands at the top. Koukl's explanations and examples are superb in terms of content and message relaying. If you can, grab a friend, family member, or whoever, and watch this. http://video.google.com/videopl-ay?docid=-9219638402717265149
Moral relativism
2007-06-01 17:18:00
Moral relativism is rampant these days, and it seems the only thing moral relativists are willing to condemn is Christianity. My friend Richard has a good discussion of moral relativism going on on his blog.
Moral Relativism Failure #4: Self-Refuting
2007-05-25 02:53:00
Another argument against moral relativism is that the position is self-refuting. This means that when it is tested against its own criteria, it fails to pass. If I were to write ?I cannot write a word in English,? the statement would be self-refuting because I had just written the statement in English. Likewise, the claim ...
Moral Relativism Failure #3: Consistant Moral Constructs
2007-05-24 02:44:00
Because there are moral concepts that have appeared in every society, regardless of their contact with each other, there must be a source of morality that is distinct from these individual societies. Although the moral relativist claims that morality is a human invention, morality is not something invented by human beings at all. ...
Moral Relativism Failure #2: A False Assumption
2007-05-23 03:01:00
Moral relativism is based on the false assumption that the existence of differences of opinion equates to the nonexistence of any ?correct? opinion. A moral relativist may argue that we cannot know which version of morality is right, and so none of them can be wrong. But does the alleged existence of multiple moral ...
Moral Relativism Failure #1: No Standard to Judge
2007-05-22 07:23:00
Moral relativism does not provide us with a standard to judge the actions of other cultures, leaving us with no intelligible difference between the good or evil actions of other cultures or individuals. If moral relativism is true, we cannot judge other cultures as morally wrong. A moral relativist might respond by saying ...

Author: Eric Subject: Christians on Absolute Truth Posted: Sat Apr 28, 2007 1:07 pm (GMT -4) The following link shows what Christians believe about truth according to Barna Research Group, which is a Christian poll. Keep in mind that truth is absolute by nature. I don't understand how anyone could dispute that. This blows my mind. We should be alarmed by this. There are reasons for this. http://www.religioustolerance.o-rg/chr_poll5.htm
The DictatorshiP of Relativism

When it comes to the issue of gay marriage, the Jewish Theological Seminary blinked and gave way to society?s shifting mores. So one must ask the question: Should we guide religion, or should religion guide us? ‘Goldilocks’ faith serves lukewarm mush ..For several generations, most Americans have embraced what could be described as the Goldilocks attitude toward religion: ...

Philosophy, Religion, & Theology :: The Idea of Relativism
2006-12-21 20:12:02
Author: Eric Subject: The Idea of Relativism Posted: Wed Dec 20, 2006 11:31 pm (GMT -5) What is relativism? Relativism is the idea that all points of view are equally valid and that there is no absolute truth. It states that whatever an individual determines is truth is true for that individual even though the same exact situation might be untrue to another. This would mean that all religions would be right (and wrong at the same time???) and that all morals depend on the social group in which they were "developed." Relativism is a very popular philosophy in our culture and only continues to grow. Think about it, if there really is no real right and wrong, we aren't accountable for our actions. This means murder, rape, and theft could be acceptable in the right circumstances and the right social groups. We could find the justification in any situation for every choice we make. Isn't this exactly what's going on? Now don't get me wrong. There are some sit...
EL RELATIVISMO MORAL
2006-12-13 10:21:01
Compromise vs Moral Relativism
2006-12-02 15:15:16
- By Thomas E. BrewtonBetween the Constitution as written and the liberal paradigm, no compromise is possible. Every concession to liberal policies entails sacrificing individual political liberty. When people share common principles, compromise is possible. But when the founding principles of society, expressed in the Constitution, are attacked by liberal moral relativists bent upon destroying those principles, acceding to their demands is, not compromise, but surrender. For that reason, demands by liberal media and by voters that Congress compromise and "get something done" are really demands that we continue slowly to dismantle the Constitution. The analogy is to heat yourself in the winter by tearing your house down, piece by piece, to burn in the fireplace. The Constitution created a government of limited power for a religious and moral people. Political power was to be curbed by citizens' God-given, inalienable, natural-law individual rights to life, liberty, and private pro...
Truth vs Moral Relativism
2006-12-02 15:15:16
- By Thomas E. BrewtonThe liberal media denounce Pope Benedict's adherence to Biblical and historical truth as rigidity. They want pragmatism and flexibility, which amounts to moral relativism.Pope Benedict and Christianity stand accused of "divisiveness." Liberals, along with Muslims, denounced the Pope last September when he spoke at the University of Regensburg. The New York Times demanded an apology for his lack of sensitivity. What exactly had he done? As reported in a VOA News article by Sabina Castelfranco, Pope Benedict XVI spoke of Islam and violence. At a morning mass, he rejected the use of God's name to justify hatred and fanaticism..............Click HERE To Read On
It Depends: Thoughts on Moral Relativism Part 2.
2006-08-30 20:24:03
Here are some quotes from others regarding Moral Relativism: …a moral relativist believes there are no rules governing right and wrong. Moral Relativism is the denial of truth in ethical questions. A Moral Relativist accepts that his own moral system is meaningless and is accepted on whim, not reason. Intellectually, Moral Relativism is an attempt at destroying the concept of ethics. This is done by claiming that ethics are irrelevant and we accept them due to societal conditioning. If moral relativists were really sincere in their beliefs, they could not condemn the following practices and would have to say… Cannibalism is permitted if you think it is morally correct. Raping two-year olds is acceptable if that is part of your cultural tradition. Brutalizing your wife is understandable if that is part of your ethical system. Castrating young boys is permitted for the sake of your cultural heritage. Torture is a morally accepted part of your criminal ...
It Depends: Thoughts on Moral Relativism Part 1.
2006-08-30 20:24:03
I consider myself to be a Moral Relativist. Pope Benedict believes Moral Relativism is the greatest evil facing the church. How could the idea that morals are fluid be the greatest evil facing the church? It’s simple, without absolute morals, the church cannot continue to claim the “one right way.” Nor can they then justify many of the their positions, stances and actions in the modern world without this absolute moral standard. If there is one thing we know for certain, the only absolute in this world is that there are no absolutes. So today let’s a take a look at Moral Relativism and the major arguments and misconceptions about it and what it means to be a moral relativist. So what is Moral Relativism? Unfortunately, Moral Relativism has mostly been defined by it’s opponents, so for our purposes, I will define it thus: Moral Relativism is the belief that morals are subjective. Morals are defined by the culture and society within which they exist....
