However, today is a day when we should be looking at the teams towards the bottom of the table, as our title hopes could lie in ...

If the NFL Had a Relegation System
2008-01-15 15:07:00 I am a big fan of the relegation system they use in soccer and even basketball in Europe. I always wondered what would happen in the US had such a system in major sports leagues. So I'll try it out first with the NFL. And yes, this would involve creating new teams. 1. The 8 teams that finish in

Does Major League Soccer Need a Relegation System?
2007-09-03 01:23:00 The answer? Yes, they really need to start using the relegation system (let alone a single table league). It's insanely stupid that teams that win 4 games in the entire season, get to play the same teams again next year. If I were them, I'd come up with this: MLS Division One: 12 team league, in

Relegation In The Next Few Seasons A Possibility?
2007-04-03 19:50:00 Obviously the title of this piece is a wind up, partly because it was April fool’s day recently and I forgot to play any tricks. West Ham Beaten Four Nil As Charlton Look To Escape Relegation
2007-02-25 10:28:01 Alan Curbishley has received the same dreaded vote of confidence that his predecessor Alan Pardew was given by the new West Ham board. Pardew has since been installed in Curbishley?s old club Charlton Athletic. Curbishley has spent a considerable sum of the Icelandic consortium?s investment money in an attempt to keep the Hammers in the top flight. So far it seems that this has been in vain as the introduction of the new players has not had the desired effect on results. On his return to the Valley Curbishley would have wanted a better score line. His side finished three nil down at half time, to goals from Ambrose, Thomas and Darren Bent. Bent returning to Pardew?s squad after a lengthy period on the treatment table. The second half was no better for West Ham as Jerome Thomas scored his second and his teams fourth, to seal Charlton?s Emphatic win over fellow relegation strugglers to close the gap on Wigan. |
