Democrat Buyer?s Remorse
2008-08-25 13:33:00
This doesn’t bode well for the O’Phony-Joe Liar 2008 ticket going into their convention in Denver this week.  This was the poll on US News & World Report’s website yesterday. But, but, but…. I thought Obama was the One We Were Waiting For?!? As Velma from Scooby Doo might say – ”JINKIES” !  Or in the words of Robin, ...
Does God Hate Divorce?
2008-08-15 15:42:00
Johanpdx Blog had an interesting article about this called, Does God Hate Divorce? The article spoke about how pastors can use scripture from Malachi in order to NOT deal with domestic violence within the church! The passage from Malachi is just as much about the community's unfaithfulness to God as about any individual covenant violation, but, too often the abusive husband (and his sometimes unwitting confederate, the usually male pastor) find it convenient to use Malachi's words exclusively to bind the victim. That's the part I never understood! Why intend to force them to stay, and NOT address the portion that making them - to put simplistically - happy, safe and in peace? In most cases victims wish the abuse to stop, but not always the marriage to end. When they realize the domestic abuse isn't going to end or even be addressed that is when idea of fleeing comes up. To me this type of approach is to manipulate someone to stay, and is that really want God would wish fro...

Confusion, Panic, and Remorse
2008-05-18 00:44:00
Off stage, a bigger throng than usual pressed in on me.  They clapped and murmured, “Thank you, thank you.† “Malcolm, Malcolm.† You’d think I’d get used to it, but no.  The crux of my being is exposed.  It’s grotesque and unseemly, and after a big public spillover, I want to hide in a dark, empty room.  Except last night, upon seeing the boy Tyler, the sadness pooled deeper and deeper, while all the while a wall of hands patted my back and shoulders, head and chest. [This post is an excerpt from Diary of a Heretic, the novel. Click here to read the first episode, or here to read the previous one.] Stephanie and her new boyfriend Rafe, Maggie and her trumpet-playing boyfriend Lyle, Louie and his girlfriend, Demetria, Professors Llewlleyn and Smith, the people I knew, clamored for special attention, kisses and handholding.  I noticed Carlos at the top of the staircase.  He mouthed “home run†and shook a loosely formed wri...

Nightly Ramble: Kos, .08%, Buyer’s remorse, the White stuff, more.
2008-05-15 22:16:00
Look, the Daily Kos is the website of Modern Democrat thought. They represent what passes for thinking in the Democrat party. They are not ‘far left‘ They are Mainstream Democrat. Are we clear on this? Why do I get the feeling that the usual hollywood corwd is going to be disappointed, no matter what happens with Obama? Look, Billy, you of anyone I know should understand that the law… any law… is by it’s very nature arbitrary, and thereby for any law to address the problem of drunk driving some arbitrary standard will be set.  That’s the nature of the government beast.  So, Olberman is now complaining, labeling Bush’s statements on how he doesn’t pay golf now because of the war is ‘ludicrous’? Hey, Baldy; What would you be complaining about if he WAS out on the course? We all know you’d be right on the front lines complaining about how such was a symbol of how he didn’t care about the troops, as if YOU do. S...

God is there even as you suffer, and you feel tested!
2008-05-12 17:44:00
I had to watch this video twice to get the full impact. I hope you get it quicker than I did! LOL! It shows how God is waiting for us, and will fight for us even when times in our eyes are NOT good!1Co 10:13 You have been put to no test but such as is common to man: and God is true, who will not let any test come on you which you are not able to undergo; but he will make with the test a way out of it, so that you may be able to go through it. Look for God's way out of it!

LINK to page "Created to Be His Help Meet" discussion I have written on the misteachings this organization offers, but this blogger actually is taking it my sections. The above link as to do with the domestic violence section. This is not to say that everything they have to say is incorrect, but they clearly are misinformed on some things. Its a shame that they continue to place such a burden on ladies in this situtation. The link above is the this section, and while you are there read section 8 as well!Page 79: ?A Command Man who has gone bad is likely to be abusive. It is important to remember that much of how a Command Man reacts depends on his wife?s reverence towards him. When a Command Man (lost or saved) is treated with honor and reverence, a good help meet will find that her man will be wonderfully protective and supportive. In most marriages, the strife is not because the man is cruel or evil; it is because he expects respect, and is not getting it. When a wife plays he...
Do Buyers get Buyers Remorse in Ann Arbor?
2008-04-08 03:47:00
Many buyer will get it? How do you deal with it? How do you prevent it? Many times buyers in Ann Arbor and Washtenaw County after having their offer accepted on a house they loved, begin to question their decision they have written an offer on. “Can I afford it?”  “Will something come along that is better?”  “Has the market hit the bottom?” These are all questions that may make buyers have a sudden attack of what is commonly called among Realtors as “Buyers Remorse.” How do you handle it? One of the things I do is first let them question their feelings. They are valid and need to be acknowledged. Secondly, I’ll refresh their memories, we’ll talk about the house they have the offer on, the positive things they saw in it. Then we’ll review the discussion we had at the beginning of their home search, what they were looking for, what were their “must haves” and what were “we&r...

Eliot Spitzer Claims Remorse, Resigns As Governor Of New York
2008-03-12 23:01:00
According to the NY Times, aides to Eliot Spitzer said that his wife of over 20 years, Silda Wall Spitzer, was pressing Eliot to stay on as Governor. The petite woman that bore him three daughters stood a shoulder behind him as Spitzer gave a public apology on Monday, though he didn't say what for. But today, under mounting pressure from fellow politicians and federal investigators, he detailed his remorse in a public resignation - which he read in a rehearsed voice that a film narrator might use to dramatize something worthy of public sympathy.

Is Hillary Clinton suffering buyer's remorse over Bill?...
2008-02-24 17:06:00
Is Hillary Clinton now regretting having husband stump for her? According to this CNN piece she's offering apologies for campaign remarks that he made that might have offended African Americans. However sincere it may be it might be a little too late ... In remarks to the annual State of the Black Union forum Saturday, Sen. Hillary Clinton strongly defended her husband's record on civil rights, and offered regrets some of the former president's comments earlier this campaign season appeared to have offended many African-Americans. Clinton was asked about remarks her husband made while on the trail for his wife in South Carolina last month, including his reference to Jesse Jackson having won primaries in the state during the 1980s. Critics complained about the remarks, seeing it as a suggestion that Obama's success in that state would largely be based on his race. In her answer, Clinton said many of the attendees to the forum know her husband personally and "know his heart...

A Cry for Help
2008-02-17 06:05:00
I remember seeing this film a while ago. What is chilling is how short a time ago the world took domestic violence within families seriously. Ahem. I guess I could say was FORCED to take it seriously. This happened in the 1980's, and that wasn't so long ago. We have come far from that time, but look at the toll. SURE the lady in this film may have NOT been a faith follower, but to be perfectly honest I don't think it would have mattered. I have often wondered how long it will be until the church is placed in this situation before they take the issue a bit more seriously. Everyone knows its wrong, but how they deal with it....is wrong as well. I would bet in the future the church goes thru what this lady did, but in a different realm. Everyone - unless they are completely blind - knows that this issue is serious. Emotional and verbal abuse is not taken as seriously, and yet it is shown that it could be taken into this realm very quickly. Sick people with a need for con...
Solitude and Remorse Cannot Coexist
2008-02-14 01:47:00
I will stop at nothing to enjoy solitude in an elevator. This morning, I was standing blissfully alone in an elevator, when l I noticed two panicked students in a mad dash to accompany me. With their extremities within clear dismemberment possibility, I punched CLOSE DOOR. Unfortunately, my classmates slithered into the elevator in the nick of time. Don't you hate it when you unexpectedly find yourself with two people whose hands you just tried to hack off? Happens to me all the time, so I played nonchalant. Anywhistles, now that I have a nebulous thesis roasting in my brain, I should type it out and let it turn into charcoal. Let's go, Olaudah Equiano.

Gender feminist buyer’s remorse
2008-02-12 02:57:00
A fundamental division between conservatives snd liberals, is that conservatives believe that decisions have consequences.   Liberals pine for a world free from consequences.  Yet another female discovers that accepting gender feminist myth leads to adverse outcomes.   Lori Gottlieb , Atlantic, experiences buyer’s remorse: About six months after my son was born, he and I were sitting on a blanket at the park with a close friend and her daughter. It was a sunny summer weekend, and other parents and their kids picnicked nearby-mothers munching berries and lounging on the grass, fathers tossing balls with their giddy toddlers. My friend and I, who, in fits of self-empowerment, had conceived our babies with donor sperm because we hadn’t met Mr. Right yet, surveyed the idyllic scene. Eugene Volokh, Volokh Conspiracy, host a very provocative comments thread.   Volokh’s commenter’s are divided on the appropriateness of the term bastard. Hat tip:  Hot Air, ...

Beware the sociopath No heart, No conscience, No remorse
2008-02-07 12:55:00
Most psychopaths are very arrogant and cocky. However, when charming a potential victim, they say all the "right" things and make you believe they are kind-hearted souls; not always, but often enough. The truth is, psychopaths are not altruistic and do not really care about friendships or ties. Guggenbuhl-Craig states that they are very talented at appearing much more humble than the average person, but are hardly so.A psychopath may claim, for instance (if he's from a low socio-economic class), that he dislikes rich people intensely, but at the same time, he will inwardly yearn and envy what they have. The psychopath is filled with greed inside, relating to the world through power, even though, as I said, on the outside he can claim to be on the side of the disenfranchised or the downtrodden. As mentioned, psychopaths often claim to settle for second best (being their own worst enemy) and then think they deserve better. This may be manifested in the way they seek power -- either thro...

Regret and Remorse
2008-01-27 11:17:00
From Easy Does It, January 27:"All of us have things we regret. But when regret takes possession of our thoughts and lives, we are in trouble.... To concentrate on lost opportunities or to wish the past was different opens the door to despair. All we can do is the best we can do at any given moment ".I think this is a great point. Regret leads to despair, simply because it is a form of "worry" over things that can't be changed. What can possibly result from such worry?Everything about it simply leads to despair, sorrow, self- punishing, and most of all- aggravation. Why didn't? Why couldn't? Why isn't?These three short statements are the source of so much heartache in so many lives. But when we reach a place where we believe that everything happens for a reason- that everything is meant to be just as it is, these types of questions can fall by the wayside. How about telling ourselves- "It didn't happen that way because G-d didn't want it to". With those words, the self-recrimi...

Remorse and Hibernation
2007-12-04 08:31:00
Was there a time you were in hibernation or in a hiatus? Why? How did you deal with it?"Time is as fast as an arrow." It sucks but I have been mulling over the reasons behind being unable to post in a long time. There are a lot of things to say. The clear-cut getting-in-the-way tuition and quotidian job I have shouldn't be mentioned since it is not a good excuse. Maybe, I was just too lazy to post. Or the fire that was for sometime ablaze just died down. I still love to blog and I just can't understand why the spark just had to fade away. Now, I am thinking more deeply. There was a time I admitted that I have an obsessive-compulsive behavior though I never actually had to undergo a psychological test or whatsoever. I may just be too naive to understand what it really means and I was to clueless to believe that I am indeed obsessive-compulsive. Then again, I remember a time when my eye got caught in the discussion at blogcatalog about a blogger who kept changing his blog's templat...
Biblical Duty and a Father's love he said!
2007-11-29 23:49:00
I found this article on Religion and child abuse. For three hours Tuesday, Robert Hale blamed his wife and family for his troubles, denied ever assaulting his children, and said he only "gave corrections" out of biblical duty and a father's love. Then the judge cut him off, called him a liar, and sent him to prison on a 14-year sentence for rape, coercion and incest. Thus did Papa Pilgrim's long journey end this week in an Anchorage courtroom.
Violence Among Us: Ministry to Families in Crisis
2007-11-19 02:34:00
Focus Ministries came out with a book called, "Violence Among Us Ministry to Families in Crisis"In the Christian community, one in every four women experiences family violence. As the awareness and incidence of domestic violence increase, however, pastors find themselves ill-equipped to deal with the crisis. There is very little training, if any, provided in seminary on this subject. The challenge for every pastor and counselor is to go beyond a casual awareness of the problem to the harsh reality of this epidemic, to move past apathy to conviction, and to turn empathy into compelling action. Some of the reviews of the book so far include:?Here is a book that exposes the well hidden secret of abuse within the home ? yes, even the Christian home! As a pastor I have long ago concluded that those of us in leadership must create an atmosphere where victims can safely tell their story and get the help they need. My prayer is that this book will be widely read and be used to give mothers...
Growing crisis of domestic abuse in the church

Unnia Pettus, Ph.D.For the full story LINKAfter years of emotional and physical abuse behind closed doors, and both being seen as active Christians.......she tried to kill herself to escape.I found another blog called Unity First that spoke about the book she wrote.Article from the Washington Post about her had a quote:"The fact of the matter is what happens in the broader community can happen within the body of Christ," said the Rev. Jonathan Weaver, pastor of Greater Mount Nebo African Methodist Episcopal Church. "The church is not a haven for saints, but a hospital. For the longest time, talking about domestic violence has been off-limits, but it is a vexing problem plaguing our community." Here is a link to her book at Amazon

Home Buying Tip of the Day - Dealing with Buyer's Remorse
2007-10-24 01:26:00
When you were out looking for your first (or next) home and in hot pursuit of the "American Dream" it was exciting looking for just the right home with the right view and in the perfect neighborhood. Then came the fun stuff, looking at houses knowing that any one could be your new home. You walk through a few of them imagining each as your own with your belonging and touch. Some were to small, others not in the right neighborhood but finally you find your dream home. You sign the contract and anxiously await the answer. Terms are eventually worked out and you have just bought yourself a new home for you and your family.Later that evening you take your family out to dinner to celebrate a new home and new life.HOWEVER....Maybe tomorrow or the day after you start worrying. You wonder if you made the right decision, you wonder if the house that was a little cheaper would have been better, maybe you worry about making the payments and how it will affect your lifestyle, you ask yoursel...
Domestic Violence the church's dirty little secret!
2007-10-22 04:37:00
I found a good article on domestic abuse on the catholic online website. It speaks about a priest that is very active in the mission of helping victims of domestic violence.Testimony by throngs of women being brutally victimized - humiliated, beaten and murdered - has caught the attention of social service agencies, law enforcement and the courts along with hospital emergency rooms, but churches have been slow to join in the fight against domestic violence. Sadly, we already know that don't we. The next comment shows the fear I feel is within this subject for the church.Since then, he?s learned to identify the signs of domestic abuse. ?It?s a common social problem? that comes veiled in excuses and cloaked in embarrassment, shame and fear, he said. Women come in looking for ?help for their husbands. They say, ?he drinks too much and has a problem with anger.? ? Tattoo remorse fuels boom for dermatologists
2007-09-18 09:04:00
Laura Hathaway initially had no regrets after getting a tattoo on her lower back when she was 21. But now, 10 years later, she wants it gone. The pharmaceutical sales representative from Atlanta, Georgia, says it doesn't fit in with her current lifestyle as the mother of a 2-year-old boy who just started to talk. "The other day I bent over and he said, 'What's that?' and it just confirms why I'm having it removed." Dr. Karempelis says that in spite of the drawbacks, "business is booming." He and three other dermatologists in his office see more than 30 patients a day who want tattoos removed by laser.

Buyer's remorse--what should my expectations be
2007-09-05 20:04:00
I have purchased my first rental home and am feeling buyer's remorse. I only closed on the property 12 days ago, but due to the research I did on the area, I thought I would have a tenant before I even closed on the property. My gut feeling is that the realtor who has been helping me, overpriced the monthly rent. We're going down on it now, but I just feel anxious. I know I'm a newbie at this and should just calm down. Any advice or words or wisdom would be much appreciated.

Evil Mutant Provokes Chuckles, Feels Remorse
2007-05-17 21:08:00
I knew that Spiderman 3 was going to introduce the Symbiote, the weird alien creature that enhances Peter Parker's abilities and complicates his sense of morality, so I knew that flirting with evil would be a theme in the third installment of the series; but I never could have predicted that the film would make this internal conflict into a source of comedy. When he puts on the "Black Spiderman" suit, Peter puts on at the same time a laughably juvenile personality (and hairdo), and starts slaying the ladies as well as his enemies. At least he tries to--half of the women he makes passes at just look bewildered and disgusted; but hey, if you swing at every pitch you're going to hit a few. Or hit the woman you love, triggering an anagnorisish realization of the evil within, which is when the laughs have to stop in this cinematic world we call the cinema.
