If you're headed in the wrong direction, God allows U-turnsSemper peccator, semper penitensTo my eternal shame, I even got my wife and daughter to back me up with witness statements supporting my lie. But then my opponents ambushed me in the middle of the trial with clear documentary evidence that I had told a lie on oath. My credibility as a witness was shattered. I had to withdraw from the libel case. And within 24 hours my whole life was shattered too. The former Cabinet Minister had impaled himself on his own sword of truth, with explosive and apocalyptic consequences. Some people have expressed surprise that I am still in one piece after being so torn to shreds in the onslaught of media vilification and castigation I received at the height of my dramas. A great deal of the criticism of me was vitriolic; some of it was vicious; and I deserved most of it. When these thunderbolts were raining in on me from all directions, I turned to my Christian faith, imperfect though it was, an...

This last weekend I was asked to get a prophetic team together and prophesy over some women going through a class. I could not use my existing team because some of them were in the class. So, I got together three other women and we spent the day in prayer over this class. It went well. We flowed together well and experienced the Lord all day. The Holy Spirit spoke through us and many had revelation. There was, however, one women with whom everything was different. She caused me to feel humble around her because of the way she carried God. She was so close to Him that you felt Him in her presence. She is from Africa and her and her husband had pastored a church, like mine. in a small town in Kansas. They are church planters. We ministered to her, but when we went to pray for her, she looked at me and said "it is you". She shared that lately God would give her a vision of someone and she could feel what was going on with that person. She told me that I was empty inside and very ...
Bruce Lunsford's Repentance. Will Democrats Forgive?
2008-04-27 23:49:00
The C-J does a good job of presenting Bruce Lunford to the public. Good, I said, NOT perfect. But then again, many Democrats will NOT use the term "perfect" to describe their prospective Senate... [[ This is a content summary only. Visit my website for full links, other content, and more! ]]
Repentance from Religion
2008-04-19 22:31:00
My blog friend Sarah has written a really great post this week. Here is an appetizer:I used to believe the only way to follow God wholeheartedly 100% was to either be a missionary or to be in "full-time ministry" or to "have a ministry" (a paid or fundraising-supported function within a Christian organization, ministry or church). I wouldn't have articulated it that way, and if someone had articulated it to me that way, I wouldn't have intellectually agreed. But deep down, this was my functional paradigm. This belief was affected by Hellenistic dualism and its false dichotomization of sacred from secular. Please check out her whole post. You will be glad that you did!In the seemingly most tragic events of history, and in particular our lives, God sees with an eye for redemption and works to bring beauty from ashes.
Making a Difference

When I wrote the post Take Control (1): Be a Captain I got an e-mail from a friend in the Netherlands who told me a good story. It made me glad to see what great influence one person can have upon another, especially when communication between them is based on love and truth. And also, ...
The Fallacies That Stumble
2008-01-16 14:00:00
Have you ever considered why we back-slide now and then and fall away sometimes, or just don’t have the motivation to read the Bible, pray and sing praises to God? While it’s a fact that we all go through dry spells, why then do some of us slip away so much that there’s an actual term ...
The Prodigal Son
2008-01-08 14:44:00
The parable of the Prodigal Son is perhaps the most loved parable of Jesus Christ among many Christians, and probably the most told as well. Why the popularity, so to speak? For one, it speaks volumes of God’s love for us sinners. Secondly, most of us see ourselves in the prodigal son that returned to his father ...
Faith And Pornography
2007-12-11 09:29:00
The advertising adage that sex sells is taken to new extremes today — if you can’t think of some refreshing concept for a product or service, just slap on a nude female form (cover it in some cloth or put it in silhouette so that it passes the censors though) and there’ll be many who ...
Don?t Be A Religious Christian
2007-11-27 05:56:00
Have I gone mad? Has resentment and anger gotten the better of me that I now write such spew? No, no, no, not at all! I have always maintained that Christianity is a faith, and not a religion, and I get quite upset that people, even Christians, do not seem to be able to make the distinction. Just ...
Repentance

While I was hard into the grasp of Lupus, I was put on pain medicine. I was told that it would help the Fibromyalgia. I was in a lot of pain and trusted the Doctors. The problem was, I was put on Oxycontin. It started, as they say, innocently enough. I took them as prescribed. I really had no idea that I had become addicted to pain pills. After God healed me from the Lupus, I remained on the Oxycontin. I still felt pain and the doctors kept saying it was fibromyalgia. Neither the doctors nor myself realized the complete healing that God had produced. So, for a year after my healing I remained on pain medicine. My brain telling my body it hurt so it could still receive the narcotic of it's choice. My behavior began to change. I no longer search within my self for sin. I no longer stilled my mind to hear the voice of my God. I no longer saw with the eyes of Christ. I no longer saw good in people. I had become a different person, full of suspicion, doubt, fear.I began to ac...
The Focus of Repentance
2007-11-03 15:45:00
"Against you, you only, have I sinned and done what is evil in your sight, so that you are proved right when you speak and justified when you judge."Psalm 51:4The above words are taken from a famous biblical psalm that was written by King David after he was convicted by God with regard to his sin. Whilst I was at home group on Wednesday studying Ephesians 4, we were discussing repentance... and I was reminded of a truth about it, which I feel I should share.Too often we focus on the things we have done wrong... we wallow in them and make it all about us. In a perverse way... is it possible that sometimes our "repentance" can be self centred?Think about when you have let one of your friends and family down, or hurt or disappointed someone who is very important to you. At such times, which was more important to you? Making up for your actions... or restoring your relationship with the affected person?I want to take you back to my blog of September 9th. During that time, I experienced ...
What In The World Are They Doing?!
2007-11-02 04:06:00
Has the pastor and his congregation lost their minds? Listen up, Mr. Fred Phelps, our Lord Jesus Christ came to save the lost, not condemn them! And you are there with your daughters and the congregation that you lead doing exactly the opposite — condemning those who actually needs His forgiveness, comfort, and love most. Did you ...
Thoughts On Repentance
2007-10-12 17:56:00
Except that we be cleansed and go to God our Father in perfect cleanliness, washed white as wool by the blood of our Lord Jesus Christ, God our Father will not accept our offerings nor hear of our prayers. Isaiah 1:11 (KJV) To what purpose is the multitude of your sacrifices unto me? saith the LORD: I am full of the burnt offerings of rams, and the fat of fed beasts; and I delight not in the blood of bullocks, or of lambs, or of he goats. Isaiah 1:12 (KJV) When ye come to appear before me, who hath required this at your hand, to tread my courts? Isaiah 1:13 (KJV) Bring no more vain oblations; incense is an abomination unto me; the new moons and sabbaths, the calling of assemblies, I cannot away with; it is iniquity, even the solemn meeting. Isaiah 1:14 (KJV) Your new moons and your appointed feasts my soul hateth: they are a trouble unto me; I am weary to bear them. Isaiah 1:15 (KJV) And when ye spread forth your hands, I will hide mine eyes from you: yea, when ye make many pray...
Paris Hilton is a beacon of repentance

Recently the new and improved Paris Hilton announced she?d be taking a humanitarian trip to Rwanda. Someone needs to tell her that Rwanda is in Africa ? and not behind a curtain. Also you need to get in a plane and fly there - not drink 15 cans of sparkling wine and dance like a paraplegic ...

Repentance and Resident Evil
2007-10-03 22:44:00
It may not have seemed to many to be a very Christian thing to do, but on Sunday afternoon after church and after the frustrating loss of our San Diego football team (The Chargers), I went to see Resident Evil 3: Extinction with a couple of the men in the church. Before the onslaught of moral accusations about why a pastor would be interested in seeing such “R”-rated evil gore, just give me a chance to share with you about resident evil and gospel repentance. First off it is hard not to like these kinds of movies if you are a guy. They are simple. There are bad guys, and there are good guys, and the good guys kill the bad guys. It doesn’t matter to me if it is a zombie movie, a cop movie, or whatever…if you’ve got that storyline, I’m in. That story is something that resonates with the moral fiber of our being. We sense wrong and know it ought to be punished and crushed and destroyed and have its head cut off with a machette. For the girls out there who are like, &ldq...
Is Repentance Necessary for Salvation?
2007-09-14 13:47:00
It is true that numerous Bible verses speak of the promise of salvation with no mention of repentance. These verses merely say to "believe" on Jesus Christ and you shall be saved (Acts 16:31; Romans 10:9). However, the Bible makes it clear that God is holy and man is sinful, and that sin makes a separation between the two (Isaiah 59:1,2). Without repentance from sin, wicked men cannot have fellowship with a holy God. We are dead in our trespasses and sins (Ephes.2:1) and until we forsake them through repentance, we cannot be made alive in Christ. The Scriptures speak of "repentance unto life" (Acts 11:18). We turn from sin to the Savior. This is why Paul preached "repentance toward God, and faith toward our Lord Jesus Christ" (Acts 20:21).The first public word Jesus preached was "repent" (Matt 4:17). John the Baptist began his ministry the same way (Matt 3:2). Jesus told His hearers that without repentance, they would perish (Luke 13:3). If belief is all that is necessary for salvat...

RepentanceBy Robert H. Schuller"The Kingdom of God is at hand. Repent, and believe in the Gospel." -Mark 1:15I once spent an evening with one of America's foremost psychiatrists, Dr. Karl Menninger. We were playing chess together in the Chicago home of a mutual friend, W. Clement Stone.I was about to make my second move when the giant-minded Menninger glared at me over the chessboard and asked, "Dr. Schuller, do you preach repentance?"I was taken aback, wondering what that question could possibly have to do with chess. Before I could answer, Dr. Menninger went on, saying, "Nothing will bring healing quicker to people than repentance. They are sinners. People know it. They are responsible for their own guilt! And they will never be healthy until they confess and repent before God."I was reminded of St. Paul's words to the men of Athens: "... Now He (God) commands all people everywhere to repent." (Acts 17:30).Deep within, I know the presence of God that is mine through Christ Jesus...

Repentance
2006-04-15 10:46:00
Repentance Jesus started his ministry by preaching Repentance. Mark 1: 15 John the Baptist started his ministry by preaching Repentance. Mathew 3:2 The Apostle Paul and others preached repentance. Acts 20: 21 And unfortunately this is one thing that is not preached nowadays, and that is one of the reasons Christendom is in the pathetic state that it is in right now. There is not much difference between professing believers and the people who don?t believe in Christ. We need to get back to the basics and understand what this word really means. Repentance means to turn away from our old ways of living. It is to turn from sin and turn to God. When we see the great things that God has done for us in Christ, that the Son of God himself, the Lord Jesus had to come to this earth to pay the price for our sins by his own blood on a cruel cross, it should make us turn from our rotten sins. The penalty for our sins being death, eternal separation from God. And God in his great mercy, because ...
