Report: Sox, Pads, Angels Talking Three Way Deal Involving Konerko, Gonzale
2009-11-16 17:59:00
SoxNet.net has learned that the Chicago White Sox have had preliminary discussions with the Anaheim Angels and San Diego Padres on a potential 3 way deal which would involve Paul Konerko, Adrian Gonzalez, and Angel and White Sox prospects.  SoxNet.net is not aware of the specifics of the trade (ie, names of prospects and exact details as to how many prospects, etc) but the discussions are built on the Sox sending Konerko and prospects in-return for Adrian Gonzalez.  The Angels would receive Konerko with the Padres receiving a combination of Sox and Angel prospects....

With only three days remaining before they take on Real Salt Lake in the Eastern Conference Final, the Fire is looking for all of their injured players to return to the field to help Chicago advance to its first MLS Cup Final since 2003. Unfortunately for the Fire though, it doesn't appear as if all of their banged-up players will be available on Saturday night at Toyota Park. Here's a full rundown... Brian McBride - McBride, who had to leave last Saturday's game in the 55th minute with an IT band injury, resumed training with the Fire today for the first time since picking up his injury. Fire Injury Report
2009-11-05 08:58:00
Back in late July and early August - when several Fire players began falling victim to injury - it was assumed that most would be able to return in time for the start of the playoffs. Now, with the Fire only a couple of days away from the decisive Game 2 of their Eastern Conference Semifinal series against New England, a few of those players have yet to return or make a significant impact while on the field. Here's the full injury rundown... Gonzalo Segares - Segares, who was out since August 9th with a sprained left MCL, made his long-awaited return to the Fire's lineup this past Sunday - seeing 25 minutes of action at left back in...

Deal Report: $1 Meals at Boston Market
2009-10-28 04:10:00
Because there was no line at KFC last night, I kind of hoped that not that many people had heard about the Boston Market deal and that it would be dead. I planned to get there around 5 p.m. to beat any rush, but that didn't quite work out and I walked up to the store with my three kids (the hubs was working late) at 6:15 p.m. The line was actually starting to poke right out the door, into the rainy night. And it was not moving. I told the kids we'd have to go home for dinner and they absolutely flipped. Waterworks everywhere. I guess they were really looking forward to eating out.
Bears Report Card from the Debacle in Cincinnati
2009-10-26 06:19:00
The game that was dubbed this week as the "Benson Bowl" turned out to be sweet revenge for former Bears running back Cedric Benson, despite his post game comments in which he assured the media otherwise.  A 45-10 blasting in the Queen City by the Bengals over the Bears was the most embarrassing loss of the season for Chicago's beloved football team.  Lovie Smith's defense allowed scores on the Bengals first five drives and couldn't recover, while Jay Cutler threw three picks and the team stumbled out of Cincinnati with a 35 point defeat.Much was made about Cedric Benson and his relationship with the Bears while he was here, and what was said by the team when the Bengals were...

New: School-By-School Incident Report Data
2009-10-16 02:06:00
Here is the previously-unreleased incident report data that Catalyst's Sarah Karp first wrote about on Wednesday, showing that "violent incidents inside or on the grounds of Chicago's high schools rose by almost 20 percent." Catalyst is doing some sort of fancy analysis of the data, but meantime I thought that some of you might want to see the data for yourselves and check what the numbers look like for your schools.  You can download the spreadhsheet here: HS Code of Conduct aggregates 20090917 2006-2009.xlsx.Have fun.  But remember:  Interpret with caution. School size, demographics, definitional issues, data gaps, and changes in reporting practices all affect the numbers. For example, the sort I did of schools below based on 0809 incidents is probably meaningless...
Not dead from NBC report: Joe DiMaggio
2009-10-13 18:30:00
Baseball legend Joe DiMaggio saw the news of his death flash along the bottom of a television screen in January 1999. A technician at NBC's data control room in New York accidentally released the false report during a broadcast of Dateline NBC. A ticker rolled, displaying the message: "This is an NBC News Special Report. Baseball legend Joe DiMaggio has died at his Florida home. He was 84 years old and had..." Before the false report had finished, it was stopped. Twenty minutes later the network ran a second ticker, this time announcing that the news of DiMaggio's death was false. DiMaggio died from complications of lung cancer on March 8, 1999....
Red carpet report: Uma Thurman, Mayor Daley at "Motherhood" Chica
2009-10-09 02:59:00
On the AMC River East red carpet to promote the Chicago Film Festival's opening night film "Motherhood," Uma Thurman answered my question of "Where's a good place to buy momjeans?" with only an eyeroll. The assumption: She just didn't want to leave out any retailers with an answer. And when I asked who had the harder job, her super-busy mother of two in "Motherhood" or her ass-kicking revenge hound in "Kill Bill," (no, I did not phrase the question that way), she simply laughed and said, "Both jobs are pretty tough."So not much juice from this very brief, otherwise star-free red carpet, though Mayor Daley also made an appearance, so I asked him what would be the title of a movie...
Mid-Week Update: Fire Injury Report

With a whopping six players listed on this week's injury report, the Fire's second bye week of 2009 couldn't have come at a better time. How to Get Free Credit Report
2009-09-22 12:38:00
Credit Tip! In addition to providing your complete name and address, your letter should clearly identify each item in your credit report that you dispute. State the facts and why you are disputing the information. The Fair Credit Reporting Act (FCRA) requires each of the nationwide consumer reporting companies - Equifax, Experian, and TransUnion - to provide every USA consumer with a free copy of credit report, at his/her request, once every 12 months. The FCRA promotes the accuracy and privacy of information in the files of the nation’s consumer reporting companies. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation’s consumer protection agency, enforces the FCRA with respect to consumer reporting companies. A credit report includes information on where you live, how you pay your bills, and whether you’ve been sued, arrested, or filed for bankruptcy. Nationwide consumer reporting companies sell the information in your report to creditors, insurers, employers, and othe...

Report: Purdue's Golding Dismissed From Team
2009-09-19 17:59:00
GoldandBlack.com is reporting today that Purdue defensive end Nickcaro Golding has been dismissed from the Boilermakers football team.  Although not a starter, Golding had seen a good amount of playing time in the season's first two games as the first DE off the bench.  The report cites "repeated conduct detrimental to the team" -- Golding had been suspended by Purdue previously, so this doesn't necessarily come as a huge shock....
Top 5 Tips to Fixing Your Credit Report
2009-09-19 12:54:00
Credit Tip! The credit bureau must prove each credit record on your credit report. If this is not possible, it must be stricken from the credit report. Never underestimate the value of good credit. If your credit history isn’t spick and span, make sure to promptly fix your credit report. This is very important. For example, maybe you are a student and you need a loan to pay for graduate school. Your credit history will affect whether or not you get that loan and consequentially it may even affect whether or not you attend that university. If applying for a private student loan, your creditor or lending institution will probably request a copy of your credit report and credit score. This will determine whether or not you meet the criteria for a loan. If so, the funds you do end up paying out of pocket will obviously be a great deal less. To ensure you are a successful loan applicant, check for any inaccuracies and fix your credit report if you find errors. Credit Tip! Residents...

Here are some tips on how to fix your credit report. First, request a copy of your report from a credit bureau (it’s free) and promptly correct any errors you find in it. You wouldn’t want to be denied that job promotion or that loan application because of a simple inaccuracy in your report! When you discover a mistake, write to the bureau and ask them to fix it. You should examine your report at least o...

The Benefits of Fixing A Bad Credit Report
2009-09-13 12:02:00
Credit Tip! Even accurate data in your credit report must be deleted if it’s not verified. If you are living under a rainy cloud of bad credit, you probably want to know how to fix your credit report. The first step is to have a positive attitude about money and soon you will be on your way to fixing bad credit, which is a very important goal. Good credit renders you a successful credit card and loan applicant. If you’re a student going to college, a potential homebuyer, or anyone else in need of a loan, you need to fix your credit report, otherwise you may not be able to pay for tuition or that new home. McBride update - Forward Brian McBride once again took part in full training with the squad today and he looked good, showing no signs of pain in his surgically repaired right shoulder and saying that he feels like he can play in Saturday's game at Real Salt Lake. "It's feeling good, everything's good," said McBride. "I've been in full training [for the last week] and there aren't any issues but we'll see whether [I play on Saturday] or not." How to Check Your Credit Report
2009-09-10 12:20:00
Credit Tip! Creditors use your credit report and score to decide whether or not you should be given a loan. When you are applying for a new credit card, or an extension of a credit or loan, your lender will review your credit report before granting you anything. So it is probably best to check up on your credit report as well. This way you can correct any inaccuracies and fix your credit report immediately. Ideally, you should check up on your report monthly, and even weekly, especially if you have made a large credit purchase. Credit Tip! Don’t attempt to create a separate credit identity to get around your flawed credit report. Consistently checking up your report will help you to eliminate errors and mistakes easily. It is important that you are up to the task and fix your credit report when problems arise because otherwise, you may have trouble applying for a credit card or loan. The way to go about keeping an eye on your report is to first get a summary of all your credit...

I am actually blogging from the road right now as my club member Henry navigates 169.  Overall I had a pretty productive practice over Saturday, Sunday and Monday.  Getting plenty of bites, catching a few and pulling on most fish.  I found fish from a foot deep to 15ft, plenty of fish biting soft plastics and Tru-Tungsten jigs, but no huge concentrations of fish, so I have a lot of areas to run and gun come tournament time.  I found lots of good keepers in the 1.5 - 2lb range, with a few big ones, hopefully the bite holds for tomorrow and Friday, should be a very good tournament. Here are a few pictures from my practice, check back soon for tournament report, hopefully another Top 12 and trip to divisionals is in my future.TIght Lines!RichRichLindgren.com -;Rich's Bassin' Forum Bass Fishing Tackle Blog
Disputing Unwanted Entries on Your Credit Report.
2009-09-07 11:55:00
Credit Tip! 5. Beware of credit-repair scams. Sometimes doing it yourself is the best way to repair your credit. The Federal Trade Commission’s “credit repair: How to Help Yourself” explains how you can improve your creditworthiness and lists legitimate resources for low-cost or no-cost help. Before I tell you how to dispute, you should be aware that the deck is stacked against you. Here is how it works. You send in a dispute to the credit bureau. They are supposed to send your dispute to the creditor for verification. The creditor can either verify it within 30 days or the bureau must delete the item. Once deleted an item cannot be reinserted without the bureau notifying you in writing that it is doing so. Credit Tip! Even accurate data in your credit report must be deleted if it’s not verified. The reality is far different from what the law requires. The credit bureaus, instead of contacting the creditor and presenting you evidence, simply does a record check to m...
How Often Should I Check My Credit Report?
2009-09-04 11:10:00

You will also be able to find out whether or not someone has ordered credit in your name without your authorization. Here are some tips and information which may assist you in your quest to get your credit reports: 1) How do I go about contacting the credit report bureaus? Marketers, Social Media, Barriers And Methods – eMarketer Report
2009-09-03 07:48:00
Social Media as a Marketing tool is still quite new with people still trying to work out optimum expenditure on the medium and discussing the probability of fixing analytics on the medium. How much impact does a Tweet make? What’s the return on investment? We recently did an article on social media and brand reputation. Earlier, emarketer has published a report about how 59% of marketers in the USA already use Social media with a projected 87% planning to use it by the next year. Recently, there was also an article by Mashable about how around two-thirds of marketers were using social media, and this report supports that estimate. The most popular mediums exploited in social media were Facebook, Videos, Blogs and of course, Twitter. As we mentioned in this study, Twitter is quite popular as a marketing tool, which probably explains part of why ages around 35 actually consider it useful. The graph below is quite self-explanatory. Marketers were asked to explain the perce...

Fire Practice Report -- 9/2
2009-09-02 21:00:00
Here are a few notes from today's high-intensity Fire training session... McBride Back in Action - Injured forward Brian McBride (torn labrum) was back on the training field today, participating in his first "full go" practice since having surgery in mid-July. McBride, who isn't listed on the Fire's injury report this week, looked good in practice and didn't seem to be inhibited by the injury whatsoever. "There's actually no pain," said the 37-year old striker. "There's probably still some fluid in there that I have to stay on top of but I'm excited to be back out here."...
IOC Report: Chicago's Olympic bid 'risky'

Osorio / April 5, 2009 Workers walk near the Chicago 2016 logo at Soldier Field, which is one of the venues that the International Olympic Committee (IOC) is visiting for the 2016 Olympics & Paralympic Games in Chicago Sunday. Like any good public relations operation, when you expect bad news to try to diminish it by putting it out yourself first and say that in the broader scheme of things that it's not important. It's standard, by-the-book PR tactics. And so it was with the International Olympic Committee's "technical critique" of Chicago's 2016 Olympics bid. In preparation for its release today, we heard newsreaders say yesterday that the critique is a mere technicality, that it won't...

More Good Than Bad About Brands On Social Media – EMarketer Report
2009-09-02 12:36:00
Social Media the buzz word of today is everywhere. Celebrities and brands alike are hoping onto the social media bandwagon in India. We have blogged about this before. But even though some brands may complain that Social media is a bitching platform where brands are pulled down by consumers and there have been many well publicized cases of the same as well recently. What is then surprising to is that a survey by emarketer states that more good is being said about a brand than bad.. Check the chart below: Although the above chart showcases a US market scenario its still an insight given the penetration of social media in that market. One has to also keep in mind though that social media marketing is quite evolved in the US compared to that in India. India has its bunch of brand rating and review sites in mouthshut and brandadda and also has seen the rise of twitter lately with a lot of brands and brand related conversations increasing. I feel the above statistic should if at all giv...

Updated: Ebay Sells Skype At Valuation Of 2.75 Billion $ – Report
2009-09-01 15:08:00
Updated: Ebay has announced that Skype has finally been sold off by Ebay to a bunch of Vc’s and PE firm owners for a valuation of 2.75 billion  dollars (less by about 350 million dollars than what Ebay paid to acquire Skype). the group of PE firms would acquire about 65% of the company while 35% would continue to stay with Ebay. This deal is interesting in many ways but the main point it showcases is the problem of hype deals which happen in a booming market and how they cost the acquiring company dearly. Original post - Ebay has been hinting at this since more than a year now. We first asked the question in april last year about Ebay’s plan to get rid of Skype. The 3.1 billion dollar acquisition had become a financial headache and we did point out the reasons as well. Infact Ebay had recently invited the founders of Skype for a buy back as well and reports are also stating that it tried and wooed google into a buyout of the VOIP player as well. But as none of the opti...

Fix Your Credit Report
2009-09-01 12:08:00
Credit Tip! Tell the CRA what information you believe is inaccurate on your credit report. Include copies, never originals of documents that support your position. Your credit report may have errors without you even realizing it. Your black marks can be because of a non-payment of a bill that you never got in the first place. Whatever the cause, a bad credit report can make it difficult for you to apply for a loan for a purchase. It can even reduce your chances of finding employment. Credit Tip! Even accurate data in your credit report must be deleted if it’s not verified. If for some reason you have a negative error, the best option for is to get it fixed. This can be done by paying overdue bills, if any. Consider a situation that may arise when you move out of an apartment and a service provider company such as the electric company didn’t send you the electricity bill for your last month’s stay. You may not be at fault, but the end result is that you have a negat...
