Malagasy Giant Hognosed Snake
2008-06-17 12:17:00
Malagasy Giant Hognosed (Leioheterodon madagascariensis) is the largest of the three species of Xenodonids found in Madagascar. The Giant hognosed snake is the most common of the three species, owing no doubt to its magnificent size and gentle demeanor. I am keeping two of this species of snake. Dangerous Reptiles As Pets
2008-04-18 22:56:00
When people decide to buy reptiles for pets, some inevitably cross the line of safety and wisdom. Although it may seem thrilling to own a pet that is harmful, it’s best left up to the experts and people who are trained to preserve wildlife. Underestimating a dangerous reptile can mean a quick and certain death to the uneducated and careless pet owner. But if you’re determined to own a dangerous reptile, at least make sure you are aware of all the possible safety precautions. Be fully informed as to what steps to take should you incur injury from contact with your pet. (more…)

The Nature of Leadership: Reptiles, Mammals, and the Challenge of Becoming a Great Leader# Author: B. Joseph White, Yaron Prywes# Format:PDF 1.1MB# Publisher: AMACOM # Number Of Pages: 192 # Publication Date: 2006-10-27 # ISBN-10 / ASIN: 081440894X # ISBN-13 / EAN: 9780814408940 Some leaders are tough as nails, like a leather-hided reptile. Others are warm, like a fur- covered mammal. But the best leaders exhibit crucial attributes of both -- and emphasize them as particular circumstances dictate. Those who can achieve this combination have the potential for greatness. Joe White explores these characteristics, with examples of leaders ranging from tough-minded Lou Gerstner at IBM to mammalian leaders like Herb Kelleher of Southwest Airlines and Wendy Kopp, founder of Teach for America. White also describes other prerequisites for truly great leadership, including a passion to develop talented people and the ability to innovate and create change. Those who have combined all...

Reptiles I Have Met
2008-03-04 02:40:00
As is usual for wildlife visiting my back yard, I was alerted by my cats ...Don't worry ... I'm not stepping on him or hurting him in any way (I can't stand animal cruelty). In fact, he actually came over to me and started walking around in small circles over my foot! :eyes:Commonly referred to as a 'Blue Tongue Lizard', this little fella is actually a 'Blue Tongue Skink', and is one of the largest members of the skink family (as you can no doubt tell).Guess why they're called 'blue tongues!' :lol:In any case, even though he was protected from my girls by the lattice we have, he soon decided - after walking around in circles over my feet and staring up at me for a while (honestly, he twisted around until he was almost on his side looking up at me) - to continue on his merry way.Once again, endlessly fascinating to me to see wildlife like this in a common (and my own) back yard.

Searching for Small Reptiles
2008-01-29 07:05:00
Lizards are one of an interesting group of animals that you might not think about too much - the reptiles.  The biggest of the reptiles, the alligator, is hard to miss, but they live only in the southeastern United States.  Smaller reptiles, like lizards and snakes, can be found in your neighborhood.   If you want ...
Safety With Reptiles
2008-01-28 09:52:00
Reptiles are animals to be respected.  Many people think it’s funny to irritate a reptile to get a reaction.  These same people probably have the pet peeve of others irritating them to get a reaction.  It’s the idea of dishing it out and not being able to take it.  Please put yourself in the reptile’s ...
Reptiles Have Special Needs
2008-01-27 07:41:00
People have all kinds of different pets.  Some people only feel safe with what is considered “normal” pets.  This usually consists of cats, dogs, hamsters, or birds.  Country folks may have farmyard animals for pets.  Horses, cows, goats, bunnies, and so on are typical. Then you have the people who pride themselves on being “outside the ...
Watch out for Reptiles!
2008-01-21 03:56:00
Reptiles seem more like creatures from another planet than any other animal, and snakes even more so.  Snakes are cold-blooded, they move in very unusual ways, and they have more old wives’ tales about them than nearly any other animal (except maybe the wolf).  This introduction to the behavior of the American rattler should de-mystify ...
Introducing the Reptiles!
2008-01-19 20:40:00
The family of reptiles is made up of turtles, lizards, snakes, different kinds of crocodiles, and a small group in Southeast Asia called tuataras. Some people think that snakes and lizards are slimy, but all reptiles are covered with dry, horny scales. These scales might be hard to notice for animals like ...
Learning about Reptiles
2008-01-18 11:32:00
Children often, at one time or another, will have an interest in learning about reptiles. Even if they are only vaguely interested, it is helpful to teach them should they ever encounter a reptile in the wild or at a relative or friend’s house. It is quite possible to encounter a reptile even ...
Animal Racism: White Tigers Now, Reptiles Next?
2008-01-16 06:13:00
REXANO Editorial by Zuzana Kukol  www.REXANO.org  Las Vegas, NV (1/15/2008)–In the last few years, America has been sliding into the hole of political correctness, and the animal kingdom hasn?t been spared. Which Reptiles Do Not Make Good Pets?
2008-01-08 19:15:00
Basically, any reptile that is caught in the wild is discouraged for use as a pet. It is cruel for a reptile to be removed from its natural environment, for it to be thrust into captivity against its will, just so someone can say they own it as a pet. If you must ...
Gigantic Reptiles!

Of all the reptiles, we are usually most interested in the largest ones - alligators, crocodiles, komodo dragons, and the big snakes.   These snakes have songs written about them, and the anaconda was even the star of a movie!  Not only are these reptiles amazing due to their size, they also have many other interesting ...

Reptiles
2007-07-23 21:13:00
Well, reptiles are not dogs.. as we all know. However, whenever I get an opportunity to plug another good animal care site I will take it. And many people who have dogs also have other animals, such as reptiles. Personally I love reptiles, and I had a couple of snakes back about… oh, many years ago. Now I just have the mammals, but I’m always interested in learning more about reptiles. I love snakes, and will check out the Ball Python message boards to find more information about them. Reptiles are a responsibility one should not enter into lightly. Research is an important part of keeping any animals. To find out more about reptiles, please visit these message boards, as well as the care sheets, to find out what you need to know about caring for your reptiles.
Rome Returns: Episode 9: Gods and Reptiles
2007-03-19 03:13:00
"He worships gods and reptiles," our friend the news reader, splendidly rendered by Ian McNeice, tells the Romans of Marc Antony. And Antony has indeed walked into the trap set for him by Octavian, but not without first putting up the emotional fight of his life with the reptilian goddess Cleopatra, in an episode so thoroughly splendid that the news reader was the least of it.Antony may not be as preternaturally clever at plotting as Octavian, but Antony can see exactly what the soon-to-be Emperor of Rome has in mind. Send Octavia and Atia down to Alexandria, put Antony between the rock of Rome (his wife and his erstwhile lover) and the hard-soft place of Cleopatra's passions, and see where that leaves him. It leaves us with some of the best sex scenes in the series - see below for further - and Antony no more able to resist Cleopatra's ambitions than he is her charms.Cleopatra, incidentally, is looking more sexual than beautiful, just as the most recent thinking in history would ...
