Attainable New Year's resolutions for the rest of 2012
2012-02-01 22:51:00
Okay, do over. So you’ve broken your New Year’s resolution. So what? Does that make you a bad person? No, not really. Unless your resolution was to be a good person. In which case, yes, it does, and you can go straight to hell. But buck up; everyone makes mistakes. Look at it this way... Read more »

There are few people that would disagree with legislation that limits their ability to use the internet. Maybe the best known rendition of this is The Great Firewall Of China. Needless to say access to this site from China was curtailed several years ago. It also would appear that Myanmar (Burma for us old folks), and ...

I started my business in 2001 that helps people find Illinois lawyers for whatever their situation is.  In that time, I’ve spoken with over 200,000 people so I’ve noticed some patterns.  With that in mind, here are five things that are bound to happen in your world before the end of the year. Bishop Eddie Long Needs A Rest?
2011-12-05 02:15:00
The well known Televangelist Eddie Long finds himself in a bit of a bind. It is rumored that some call him Eddie Shlong. How could this be? USA Today published a rather scathing treatise on the man of the cloth.   Long, who was accused last year of sexually abusing several men in Atlanta, built his ...
Patrice ONeal Rest In Peace
2011-11-30 01:46:00
Patrice ONeal has passed away at the age of 41. He suffered from a stroke last month. It seems a bit ironic, because at the Roast of Charlie Sheen everyone was making jokes about Patrice. They were all saying that Patrice was going to die, and well – they predicted it. It’s very sad, because (Read More...)

Jay Cutler puts critics to rest in YouTube video

The biggest gripe on Chicago Bears quarterback Jay Cutler, that isn’t about his personality, is his mechanics. The gripe is that he has none. I guess there is a book on how a quarterback should look when he connects a frozen rope pass through traffic to the numbers of his receiver. Cutler has stated previous... Read more »

My Take: NASCAR parks Kyle Busch for rest of NASCAR Texas weekend after on-
2011-11-05 22:34:00
NASCAR has parked Kyle Busch for the remainder of the Texas Motor Speedway weekend that includes today?s Nationwide Series race as well as tomorrow?s Sprint Cup Series race after a blatant retaliation move on Ron Hornaday Jr. in last night?s in the Truck Series race. Personally NASCAR needed to wake up and suspend (park in this case) Kyle Busch, his reckless driving is very dangerous and needed to handle in the right way. I?m thrilled with this result, but I wonder what?s next?If you like what you red here on RaceDriven.com, be sure to check out Brian Vermette's Personal and Link Blog at ThinkingBrian.com (on Tumblr)

What holistic medicine can do for athletes (and the rest of us)

Shared Link: 5 Bold moves NASCAR should consider for not only the rest of t
2011-07-01 21:11:00
As the 2011 NASCAR Sprint Cup Series season nears the halfway point, I?ve been for the most part enjoying several of the races so far this season. But there are a few things that have caught my eye that I truly believe that NASCAR should address in the coming months and especially for the 2012 NASCAR Cup Series season. Now of course I?m sure that several people who read this will say, but Brian if it isn?t broke, don?t fix it. And while I do agree with that statement, I have to say that in all of these cases, in my opinion, these are broke or could be simply improved, so they need to be fixed. Anyway, here is a top 6 bold moves NASCAR should consider in the near future and for the 2012 season... ?I'm definitely here for the rest of my career now"
2011-04-17 16:47:00
Manchester United captain Nemanja Vidic has pledged his future to the club. The 29-year old joined Man United in January 2006 and has gone on to make 226 appearances, scoring 17 goals. The defender has been linked with a move away, with clubs such as AC Milan, Barcelona and Real Madrid all reportedly interested in him. Vidic told the Sunday Mirror: ?I hope to spend the rest of my career here at United.? ?I heard the speculation about me maybe leaving last year, but I know where I want to be and I have shown my commitment to the club. ?I have given the best years of my career to this club and the talk about me leaving here was never correct. ?I always give my best. Of course, sometimes you have good and bad days, but I think I always try to give 100 per cent ? and especially now I have that armband and the responsibility that goes with it. ?I'm definitely here for the rest of my career now. It never came from my mouth that I would be leaving United. I love it here and I think...
Thibodeau wont rest starters
2011-04-09 07:39:00
Don't look for the Bulls to coast their way into the playoffs now that the one seed has been clinched.Tom Thibodeau says he wants the Bulls to stay prepared mentally and physically. So he won't be resting any of his regulars or changing his rotations. The Bulls players have no problem with it either."We want to stay consistent," Thibodeau said. "We want everyone to be in rhythm. And you want everyone playing their best. If someone's injured, we'll sit them down. If they're not injured, they're going to play.""The teams I've been with, that's the way we've always approached it," Thibodeau said. "You look at the makeup of your team and determine how to pace it. You think (it) about when you...

Airtel Has Highest Number Of Active Subscribers, What About The Rest?
2011-02-11 13:30:00
Sometime back in July last year, we covered a story on the growth of mobile subscribers in India. Adding onto this, a recent TRAI report also said that there were 752.19 million subscribers in December 2010. But are all of these active? Certainly not if we have to go by the report that says only 70% of the subscribers are active. And Bharti Airtel has emerged as the top player having maximum number of active subscribers’ base. The Business Standard reported of the India’s largest telecom operator having as many as 91.8 % subscribers active. Next to Airtel is Idea Cellular with 90 % active subscribers in its network. Vodafone, on the other hand, scores abysmally low with less than 76% active users in its home network. State owned BSNL and MTNL have 57% and 35.6 % active subscribers in respectively in their GSM networks. The latter has just 27% in its CDMA network. It is quite surprising to know that new private entrants like Videocon, Etilasat, Uninor and MTS(Sistema Shyam) have...

Blackhawks begin "rest of the season" tonight in Columbus
2011-02-01 17:00:00
SNOW! Now that that's out of the way, let's talk about hockey.  The Blackhawks embark on the final stretch of the season today.  With 32 games to go, the Hawks hold the 7 seed with 56 points.  Last season, the 8th seed (Colorado) needed 95 points to get in the playoffs.  With that as the standard, the Hawks need 39 points of the available 64 remaining.  It's certainly possible, but the Hawks will need to improve their consistency to make the playoffs. ...

Rahm Emanuel meets with the press after the Illinois Appellate strikes down his Chicago Residency, Jan. 24, 2011.Tuesday, January 25, 2011. Once again, Illinois politics is in the news with yesterday's surprise ruling by the Illinois Appellate Court that Rahm Emanuel, candidate for mayor of Chicago in the February 22, 2011 primary, does not meet the residency requirements and must have his name removed from the ballot.  This, of course, is already being appealed to the Illinois Supreme Court--which should be the end of the road for the debate--win or lose for Emanuel.  As of this morning the Illinois Supreme Court has put a hold on the ruling to remove Emanuel's name from the ballot until further study.  Here are...

Loyola vs. Kansas State and the rest of the weekend slate

Northwestern is off this weekend, but there are still five games between the four teams in action. Chicago State is playing at something called the Etech Lumberjack Classic, so the Cougars are playing both tonight and tomorrow. Also, the biggest game of the weekend happens at Loyola's Gentile Center on Saturday afternoon when Kansas State and Chicago's own Jacob Pullen (left) come to play at the school his mother works at.Other games include UIC at Illinois State and DePaul hosting Ball State at McGrath Arena on Saturday night. If you can't make the funeral, you can watch it on WGN TV or blow Ronnie one last kiss as he makes one last tour of the city he loved. On Friday, a procession starting at Holy Name and ending outside Santo's workplace, Wrigley Field, will follow his funeral. Cubs Chairman Tom Ricketts, baseball commissioner Bud Selig and Santo's broadcast partner, Pat Hughes, are scheduled to give eulogies at the funeral. At Thursday's visitation, an estimated 300 people were bundled up in line at one point, undeterred by snowfall and below-freezing temperatures. Rest in Peace: Leslie Nielsen
2010-11-29 05:06:00
On Sunday, I came upon some seriously sad news.  Leslie Nielsen of "Airplane!" and the "Naked Gun" series fame has died at the age of 84.  He died from complications with pneumonia, according to the AP.I would like to propose a moment of pop culture silence for the man who was able to pull off a bumbling detective in the "Naked Gun" series and, as a Facebook friend pointed out, serious acting endeavors.  He starred in both TV and film, in efforts from "Columbo" to "Alfred Hitchcock Presents," and one of my mom's all-time faves, "Gunsmoke."This weekend, I plan to watch a memorial marathon in his honor.  Here are some of my most beloved Nielsen star vehicles, and please add...

Rest Week was AWESOME!
2010-10-19 17:10:00
richmondmexicanfood.com It's a well-known saying among marathon runners that after a marathon you can eat whatever you want the entire week. I think I took this phrase more seriously than I did my entire training. I feasted! You would have thought I was a prisoner with a death sentence. Whatever I wanted, done! Pop tarts, pizza, beer, cake. I think I had like four Mexican fiestas. It was phenomenal. And I took a week off of running too. At first I was going to do a jog mid-week, but I nixed that after the 3rd burger. Once again- I take the rest week very seriously. Sunday, I slept until 2p.m. TWO PM! I haven't slept that late since college when I...

Rest In Peace Firefighter Christopher Wheatley

I couldn't park in front of my house today. But I did not mind. You see, I live a block away from St John Fisher Church, the venue for today's Mass of the Resurrection for Chicago Fire Department Firefighter Christopher Wheatley.  The paper  slipped under my front door notified me that parking was -;restricted because of the services.  As the grandson of a CFD fireman, and as someone who has taught countless members of the CFD and the CPD, I am deeply saddened when I hear of the loss of any member of these two great city departments. By all accounts, Chris was an exceptional firefighter, and a great guy.  The impressive showing at his funeral was well deserved.  And while the occasion was most definitely sad,...

Rest easy, Chicagolians; Channing Frye re-signs with the Suns

The same man now brings the news that Frye has agreed to re-sign with the Suns, for the highly questionable price of 5 years and $30 million. The Phoenix Suns have reached agreement with free-agent forward Channing Frye(notes) on a five-year, $30 million contract, league sources told Yahoo! Sports. After opting out of the two-year contract he signed last summer with the Suns, Frye became a coveted commodity on the market. After two leans seasons in Portland, Frye had a terrific years for the Suns, averaging 11.8 points and shooting 44...

The Rest Of The World Will Have To Wait Longer For The Apple iPad
2010-04-15 05:45:00
The US consumers seem to have taken to Apple’s iPad like a fish to water. This has rather surprised the folks at Apple who are now forced to delay iPad’s global launch. Day 1 of Apple iPad’s launch in the US broke a few records as it clocked more than 300,000 iPads sold. his lead to a shipping of more than 500K iPads in the first week itself and apple pegged demand to grow as the weeks went on. Hence this unprecendented demand has lead to Apple postponing the device’s international debut until the last week of May. Many analysts believe that the no real competitor (in terms of direct features) in the market and a cool price tag of $499 (around Rs22,255) is why folks in US are choosing iPad over the lower costing netbooks. So for now people from the rest of the world outside the US would have to wait till 10th of May which is when Apple will announce the price tag for the iPad outside of the US and also its availability date. It's an entertaining, uptempo performance and her music gets people out of their seats so be sure to peep it above. I can't help but wonder aloud if she's lip syncing the chorus but given the intimate environment, artists are more likely to sound close to studio quality. Kid Sister switches up styles between chorus and verse quite drastically, which may be the reason for my confusion. Nevertheless, watch Kid Sister & Flosstradamus performing more hits from Kid Sister's album, Ultraviolet (available now), on IFC tomorrow night at 10 PM! Official details below (shouts 2 Dang). Rest in peace my Brother Abenk
2009-12-09 10:53:00
Bung Deddy, my Bro... aku ingat pertama kali dulu di Salatiga. Sobat dari Mbak Inge dan Bung Rick. Sungguh masa-masa yang paling berarti dalam hidupku. Di masa-masa akhir kuliah. Tuhan mempertemukan ku dengan mereka, brothers in Christ. Aku ingat hari-hari kami habiskan bersama. Tapi itulah kuasa Tuhan. Abenk, begitu kami berdua menyebut Bung Deddy. Dia selalu menjadi penghibur, menjadi penengah ketika aku jengkel dan frustrasi dengan Bung Rick. (he..he..he.. sorry...

Today is the First Day of the Rest of Your Life
2009-10-01 21:36:00
Today is the first day of official 2009-10 action. Sure it's the pre-season and it's not on TV, but hell, it's something. Two pretty damn good teams too. The Jazz, with D Will, Boozer and crew battling Denver with Melo and Chauncey. Just feels good to be talking about two teams facing each other again!I hope Sloan doesn't push his team too hard. The Jazz had way too many injuries last year and I want to see how good they can be at full strength. At full strength, the Jazz are going to have much more firepower to work with. Even though the pre-season rotation will differ from the regular season rotation, I want to see how the minutes will be toggled between Boozer and Millsap. Also, just want to point out that JR Smith, who is suspended for the first seven games of the season, will be in action in the pre-season. Thanks, @TheMileHighFan, check their blog too.Rejoice NBA fans, it's October. We no longer have to deal with Aaron Grey headlines as the top story of the day!
