Wanna be a millionaire ? "Sell Tomato"
2008-06-05 19:33:00 A Jobless man applied for the position of 'office boy' at Microsoft. The HR manager interviewed him then watched him cleaning the floor as a test. 'You are employed' he said. Give me your e-mail address and I'll send you the application to fill in, as well as date when you may start. The man replied 'But I don't have a computer, neither an email'. 'I'm sorry', said the HR manager. If you don't have an email, that means you do not exist. And who doesn't exist, cannot have the job.' The man left with no hope at all. He didn't know what to do, with only $10 in his pocket. He then decided to go to the supermarket and buy a 10Kg tomato crate. He then sold the tomatoes in a door to door round. In less than two hours, he succeeded to double his capital. He repeated the operation three times, and returned home with $60. The man realized that he can survive by this way, and started to go everyday earlier, and return late. Thus, his money doubled or tripled everyday.Shortly, he...

Microsoft: Australian retailers 'excited' about Xbox 360
2008-04-07 10:09:00 Contrary to a ChannelNews and SmartHouse report that retail chains in Australia are the dumping the Xbox 360, Microsoft said in a statement that Australian retailers "are excited about our current and upcoming offers, and we're looking forward to another bumper year." "We are happy with where we are in the market right now. We're significantly ahead of where we planned to be this financial year, and selling well both on the software and hardware side," Mariana Cidade, PR Manager of the Entertainment & Devices Division at Microsoft Australia said. Cidade noted that since 2006, over 320,000 Xbox 360s were sold in the Australian market alone. Over 2 million units of Xbox 360 software have been sold in Australia and New Zealand, "nearly double our next-gen competitors combined." The Xbox 360 also has an "unprecedented" attach rate of 7 games per console in Australia alone, Cidade said. Read the full article
Australian retailers to dump Xbox 360?
2008-04-07 01:39:00 A new survey conducted by ChannelNews and SmartHouse of 10 retail chains who operate more than 2,000 stores across Australia has revealed that the Xbox 360 is "on the skids," as the retailers see growth coming mainly from the PlayStation 3 and Nintendo Wii. According to the survey, retailers claimed that the PS3 was selling well because of its Blu-ray drive, while the Wii appealed to women and children. Other retailers said the Xbox 360 has suffered as a brand since its Red Ring of Death problems last year. They also cited that compared to the PS3 and Wii, consumers did not see value in Microsoft's console. "The Xbox 360 is dead. We are stocking it because of our relationship with Microsoft however all our energy and marketing is going into the PS3 and the Nintendo Wii unless Microsoft come up with something new or additional marketing dollars," a Melbourne-based retailer said. "Halo 3 was big on the Xbox but that was about it." "They have tried discounting an...

Sector Snap: Jewelry Retailers Decline
2008-03-31 03:52:00 From Yahoo Biz.Jewelry retailers fell on Friday, after an analyst downgraded two companies amid a difficult economic environment.Consumers are cutting back on big-ticket items such as jewelry as they face rising food and gas costs and weak credit and housing markets. In addition, precious metal prices have increased sharply in recent months.Merrill Lynch analyst Lorraine Maikis cut her ratings for Tiffany & Co. and Blue Nile to "Sell" from "Neutral."It was the second downgrade in a week for Tiffany, which on Monday reported strong fourth-quarter results and raised 2008 earnings guidance. On Tuesday, however, Oppenheimer analyst Roxanne Meyer said the increase in guidance was largely due to an accounting change and downgraded the company to "Perform" from "Outperform.""We think quarter-to-date U.S. comp trends could easily turn south, and are concerned that a second-half rebound in the U.S. luxury market will be tough in light of turmoil in financial markets and workforce reductio...

Is it illegal or copyright infringement if to use retailers product images
2008-03-29 12:52:00 Im contemplating exporting established U.S. brand names that I think would be a hit in other countries. Is it illegal or would it infringe on any copyrights if I use the retailers product images and product descriptions on my own site if I reference the source? To assist keeping overhead low I more than likely will not be keeping my own inventory rather purchasing items individually from the retailers once they are purchased from me. That also means that I wont be receiving any kind of bulk discounts. Thank you for your advisement!

Analysts stay bullish on luxury watch Singapore retailers
2008-02-19 00:07:00 Analysts stay bullish on luxury watch Singapore retailers F1, IRs expected to draw in high rollers and further spur demand for top-end timepieces By LYNETTE KHOO THE growth of luxury watch retailers has been known to be closely tied to economic growth, and a bellwether of consumer confidence. Â Â Despite worries about fears of a US and global recession, time - as captured by exquisite timepieces - is still money, at least for luxury watch retailers, on which analysts remain bullish. In particular, high-end timepieces - some define these as those valued above 3,000 Swiss francs (S$3,840) - are seen to be most resilient during an economic downturn. ‘Overall, the industry is still quite positive. If you look at the industry statistics, Swiss watch exports have been growing quite nicely - year-to-date is above 10 per cent year-on-year and momentum is picking up,’ says Kim Eng analyst Pauline Lee. ‘It seems sustainable because countries like Hong Kong and Singapore ha...
