Obama's Mars Return 2012: Jan-Feb-June
2012-01-16 18:49:00 Mars Returns for Presidents, Tooby Jude CowellSaturday January 14, 2012, marked the first of three returns of transiting Mars to President Obama's natal Mars position 22Virgo35, a 'three-fer' Mars Return for the president, the effects of which will last for the 2-year cycle (orbit) of the warring planet of action, aggression, quarrels, and desire nature. When Mars returns to natal position, a rush of energy returns to the native and a new cycle of activity begins as the natal condition of Mars is emphasized. Hopefully, an injection of Martian testosterone will not be sent hurling bwo missiles or bombs from the Pentagon or White House toward other nations. With Mr. Obama ('BHO') having Mars veiled by America's natal Neptune 22Vir25, we may expect the 'rock star' vibes of Mars/Neptune to be in evidence on some level even while the combo's disappointment and disillusionment influences continue to bedevil a Democratic presidency under siege from a GOP that, as usual, believes tha...

Ninth Circuit's Sliding Scale Test for Preliminary Injunctive Relief Return
2011-12-08 06:17:00 We used to have a sliding scale in the Ninth Circuit for analyzing the elements needed to obtain a preliminary injunction, a remedy that?s potentially available in trademark infringement cases. Just a few years ago, a Ninth Circuit plaintiff needed to show either: ?(1) a likelihood of success on the merits and the possibility of irreparable injury; or (2) that serious questions going to the merits were raised and the balance of hardships tips sharply in its favor.? As the court explained, ?These two alternatives represent ?extremes of a single continuum,? rather than two separate tests?. Thus, the greater the relative hardship to [the party seeking the preliminary injunction,] the less probability of success must be shown.? See, e.g., Clear Channel Outdoor Inc. v. City of L.A., 340 F.3d 810, 813 (9th Cir.2003). Then came Winter v. Natural Res. Def. Council, Inc., 555 U.S. 7 (2008), which reversed a Ninth Circuit preliminary injunction decision and seemingly banished the sliding sc...
Andrew Miller, Big Papi To Return To Red Sox For 2012
2011-12-07 01:04:00 Good news Boston Red Sox fans. Two familiar faces will be returning to the team in 2012. The Red Sox and Andrew Miller avoided arbitration on Tuesday when Miller agreed to a one-year deal with the club. According to Alex Speier of WEEI.com, the deal is worth $1.04 million. Miller made $1.3 million last year. If that news isn't big enough for you, then this ought to really make you happy. According to Enrique Rojas of ESPN Deportes, David Ortiz has decided to accept the offer of arbitration from the Red Sox. He made $12.5 million last year and should get a raise from that number. It is quite possible that the Red Sox and Big Papi could work out a multi-year deal. There have been rumors out there that teams interest in Big Papi waned when the new CBA was announced and that teams that signed him would lose their first round draft pick. With the exception of right field, the starting nine is almost intact from last year as of now. Hopefully Ben Cherington can get some quality pitchers ...

THE CLOSER Scoop: Kyra Sedgwick and EP James Duff Teases Tonight’s Return
2011-11-28 18:54:00 In the world of Brenda Leigh Johnson in THE CLOSER, life is simple: there is a crime and someone is going to pay. Intriguingly, making the punishment fit the crime has become an underlying theme. For is it enough to put away the bad guy if the legal system cannot guarantee that he will never see the light of day again? In this final season, the unorthodox tactics employed by the Major Crimes Division to get the confessions they need to put away criminals has been called into question, especially if they cannot use the confession to obtain justice. After the state court threw out the case against Brenda in the wrongful death suit of a murderer and the big reveal that the same case was now going to be brought in federal court, the issue of a department “mole” has taken on new meaning and ramifications. In a recent conference call with press, Kyra Sedgwick and creator/executive producer James Duff shared their candid thoughts on the journey of Brenda Leigh Johnson and...

The Return Of Laurel And Hardy
2011-11-27 16:07:00 Over the last few years we have carried out that many jobs that most of them are now second nature. Setting up most of our equipment has become an almost automatic procedure, and at many events there is very little conversation needed as everyone tends to know what they are doing. Unfortunately every now and then something unforeseen throws a spanner in the works. On Saturday night I was supplying one of our new photo booths to an event in Harrogate. Now when we had the unit designed and built, I ensured it was capable of fitting into a standard size lift. The job at Harrogate was on the fifth floor, which knowing they had 2 lifts wasn't going to be a problem. However I hadn't realised that the architect of the building didn't like the look of the lifts, and surrounded them with a wooden frame, which had the effect of reducing the height of the lift entrance, to around half an inch less than I needed to slide the booth sections into. Try as I might, I couldn't fit it in. Now t...
Beth Riesgraf and Timothy Hutton Preview the Midseason Return of LEVERAGE
2011-11-27 15:06:00 In the grifter-infused world of LEVERAGE, short-cons, long-cons, and con artists of all shapes and sizes are the norm. It is always a “shell game” and our heroes are the best of the best in creating an illusion to deceive the wicked criminals they intend to fleece. It is a modern-tale of “Robin Hood,” and in a recent press conference call Timothy Hutton and Beth Riesgraf (who play Nate Ford and Parker on the show) took a few moments to about their mischievous characters and what’s next in the upcoming episodes of LEVERAGE. Is there anything in the remaining episodes of Season 4 that surprised you when you read it? BETH: Yes, there are actually a few things that surprised me. In the season finale you will see that we actually call on some old friends to come back and I love the idea and the way that the writers approached that finale because it is something we’ve touched on before but they brought it to a whole new level. So I really love the season final...
