GOSSIP GIRL! GLEE! DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES! The TV Addict Week in Rewind
2012-01-29 14:58:00
Most Manipulative Match: Conspiring with a priest to destroy Blair’s marriage means it’s official…  GOSSIP GIRL’s Chuck is hellbound!   Least Shocking Spoiler: Entertainment Weekly reported that a “major character” would be killed off DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES in March. Not particularly earth-shattering given that the entire show will bite the dust a few months later.   Speaking Of Wisteria Lane… : Why the heck, you ask, are we still watching this increasingly lifeless show as it limps toward the grave? Completion issues.   Best Gene Pool Ever: Matt Bomer of WHITE COLLAR has been cast to play the brother of GLEE’s Darren Criss.   Intriguing Fact We Didn’t Necessarily Need To Know: PROJECT RUNWAY guru Tim Gunn hasn’t had sex in 29 years. Try unknowing that!   Most Anticipated Drama: We don’t give two hoots about the upcoming show ANGER MANAGEMENT, but we do hope someone’s smart enough to record the backstage antics of stars Charlie Sheen and Shawnee Smith. ...
DEXTER! WORK IT! ONE LIFE TO LIVE! COMMUNITY! The TV Addict Week in Rewind
2011-12-23 15:01:00
Best Fan Shout-Out: Soon-to-end ONE LIFE TO LIVE used its soap-within-a-soap, FRATERNITY ROW, to do a story in which a fan (the fantastic Ilene Kristen as Roxy)  tries to save her favorite doomed soap. Oddest Move: So GLEE has cast REAL HOUSEWIVES OF ATLANTA “star” NeNe Leakes? Huh. Anybody else think the casting couch over there reeks of desperation? And speaking of desperate measures… Lamest Hail Mary: With the clock running out, Sunday’s DEXTER finale had the writer’s room doing their best Tim Tebow impersonation by delivering the single biggest twist longtime fans had been clamoring for. Too bad, what should have amounted to a moment of epically cool proportions came off as little more than a sad attempt to save what has universally been deemed as DEXTER’s most disappointing season to date. Biggest No-Brainer: So scandal-ridden Alec Baldwin won’t be running for Mayor of New York City? Not since Donald Trump announced he wouldn’t be s...

DEXTER! SURVIVOR! TERRA NOVA! FEAR FACTOR! The TV Addict Week in Rewind
2011-12-16 21:26:00
Biggest Disappointment: Just when we thought we couldn’t get anymore disgusted with this current season of DEXTER the writers decided to show Deb fantasizing about doing WHAT with brother Dexter? Yet Another Reason not To Watch AMERICA’S GOT TALENT: Two words… Howard Stern. Person Who Shouldn’t Even Have To Compete: Whether it’s the Golden Globes or the Screen Actor’s Guild, Jessica Lange should just be handed the award for her work on AMERICAN HORROR STORY. Let’s face it, she’s the only reason a lot of us continue watching.   Mental Image We Could Have Lived Without: Simon Cowell told Barbara Walters that the reason he and Paula bickered so much during AMERICAN IDOL was “sexual tension… on her part” and that he considered bedding his fellow judge. Show That Could Use A Rest: Apparently, THE AMAZING RACE will be back on February 19th, having never heard that absence makes the heart grow fonder.   Silliest Overreaction: After seeing the way FEAR FACTOR ...
DEXTER! PARKS AND RECREATION! THE CW! PAN AM! The TV Addict Week in Rewind
2011-12-02 20:48:00
Lamest Twist: The only thing shocking about Sunday’s “big reveal” on DEXTER was that nobody on the writing staff had the foresight to realize how ridiculously predictable it was. Sudsiest Developments: Only a few short months after becoming GENERAL HOSPITAL’s headwriter, Garin Wolf was bumped in favor of Ron Carlivati, whose current soap, ONE LIFE TO LIVE, finished taping two weeks ago and last airs in January. Also joining GH? OLTL’s former executive producer, Frank Valentini, replacing longtime GH EP Jill Farren Phelps. Biggest Conflict: Despite our general disdain for shameless product placements, the hilarious and heartfelt way in which PARKS AND RECREATION continues to handle Ben and Leslie’s relationship has earned the show a pass on Thursday’s not-so-subtle advertisement for the “Li’l Sebastian Plush.” Well, that and we really really want one. Quote Of The Week: “”Talking strategy with Brandon is like talking to you ...
ALL MY CHILDREN! OSCARS! GLEE! UNDER THE DOME! The TV Addict Week in Rewind
2011-11-11 20:52:00
Most Welcome Media Blitz: The cover of Entertainment Weekly. MONDAY NIGHT RAW. Viral vids spoofing PRETTY LITTLE LIARS. Suddenly, Miss Piggy, Kermit and the rest of the Muppets are everywhere… and we couldn’t be happier. Funniest Show You’re Not Watching: Just how fantastic was Tuesday’s RAISING HOPE? Put it this way, it managed to make an otherwise disgusting subplot revolving digging through human faeces both funny and romantic.    Least Welcome Trend: Is it just us, or did November 10th seem a touch early to air the mid-season finales of GREY’S ANATOMY, THE VAMPIRE DIARIES and THE SECRET CIRCLE. Smartest Move: After being slammed for stumbling during the latest GOP debate, Texas Governor Rick Perry was downright charming — if not particularly presidential — as he presented his Top 10 Excuses on THE LATE SHOW WITH DAVID LETTERMAN.   Dumbest Move: Following an ill-timed tweet, Ashton Kutcher — who helped put Twitter on the map — first announced he...
THE SIMPSONS! HOMELAND! ABC! THE WALKING DEAD! The TV Addict Week in Rewind
2011-10-28 17:21:00
Worst Casting Decision: LAW & ORDER: SVU will add Gilbert Gottfried in a recurring role. Because an annoying character is what the long-running franchise needs as it struggles against newbie REVENGE. And speaking of REVENGE. Best Halloween Treat: Move over Thursday night, forget Monday, thanks to the heartfelt hilarity that is THE MIDDLE, SUBURGATORY, MODERN FAMILY and HAPPY ENDINGS, Wednesdays on ABC — capped off with the increasingly addictive Emily VanCamp sudser that is REVENGE — has officially become our favorite night of television bar none. Oddest Announcement: Butter-loving chef Paula Dean told Jay Leno she’ll be launching a clothing line. Wonder if it’ll be sold at K-Mart or in the deep-fried section of the local Piggly Wiggly?    Most Diluted Franchise: Much as we love THE SIMPSONS, the annual Treehouse of Horror is really stretching the definition of “horror” by spoofing Avatar.   Biggest Diva: Could someone please tell Maksim Chmerkov that he’s not...

CONCERT REWIND: Gang of Four and Hollerado @ Metro

Gang of Four played an insane show last Friday. I had missed them when they reunited during my early college days so seeing them was a huge deal--I think I'm sweating just thinking of that killa dance set. Check out the photo gallery below, which includes a shot of the setlist. If you'd like more details on what epics went down you can read my review of the show which was published on Time Out Chicago's Audio File blog.
CONCERT REWIND: 3 things I remember about the Disappears show at The Empty
2011-02-07 17:54:00
1. Nobody was dancing. NOBODY. C'mon Chicago! 2. It wasn't nearly as brainblastingly loud as I'd anticipated, but great to hear synth walls of sound droning through a live space regardless. 3.Taking a shot of Jager and noticing somebody splashing beer in the crowd. I applaud that person.

Motor Rewind Question
2009-05-05 17:03:00
We purchased a homogenizer as part of lot of equipment from a business that purchased it from a dairy years ago (they got it with a "whole lot" purchase, too). It has been sitting unused inside for 15 years and maybe longer at the dairy, but I believe it was in use at the dairy. The motor na
Week in Rewind: FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS, UGLY BETTY, LOST & More!
2009-01-26 17:28:00
FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS Delivers: Between the entire Panther football team rallying behind Smash, Buddy taking the opportunity to remind Tami that Scoreboard-Gate ‘09 isn’t going away anytime soon and Coach Taylor capping off the episode by dropping by the Williams’ household to let Smash and Momma Smash know that he’s got two weeks to prepare for his big tryout with Texas A&M, the only thing we can say about last week’s phenomenal installment of FRIDAY NIGHT LIGHTS is that should the show get a much deserved fourth season, NBC might wish to consider switching Dillon’s local hangout from an Applebee’s to a Chili’s. Because “Chills” is exactly what we get while watching one of the finest dramas television has to offer. How I met a lovely ending: With apologies to Pam & Jim, HOW I MET YOUR MOTHER’s Love Actually inspired ending on Monday has officially cemented Lilly and Marshall as television’s most romantic couple. Emotional Betty: When it com...
Celeb Rewind: Naomi Watts Embarrassing Tampax Commercial
2008-12-24 02:53:00
Aussie actress Naomi Watts had a long way to get where she is now. Naomi is certainly not one of my favorite actresses but I have ...
Week in Rewind: SNL, NBC, Ed Westwick & More!
2008-12-15 20:42:00
Mea Culpa of the Week: After calling for his dismissal on more than one occasion, we feels it’s only fair to give credit where credit is due. Not only did Fred Armisen’s hilarious impersonation of Governor David Patterson on this weekend’s SATURDAY NIGHT LIVE manage to keep us from reaching for the fast forward button. He genuinely had us ROTFL (Rolling on the floor laughing). Disappointment of the Week: In theory, Stephanie (special guest star Sara Rue) using sex to distract Leonard from breaking up with her on THE BIG BANG THEORY sure seemed like a funny idea. Too bad the reality of using (or withholding) sex to get what you want played out like one of the oldest (and least funny) sitcom tropes in the book.  Emmy Bait of the Week: Following last Monday’s surprisingly emotional performance by one Chuck Bass. We’d like to say six words we never thought we’d associate with GOSSIP GIRL. For Your Emmy Consideration: Ed Westwick. (more…)
Week in Rewind: THE SIMPSONS, ROSIE, TERMINATOR & More!
2008-12-01 16:04:00
iFunny: Last night’s combination of two of this TV Addict’s favorite things: THE SIMPSONS and Apple mApple (see above video) was so entertaining that we’re willing to forgive the fact that FOX can’t ever seem to air their holiday episodes remotely close to their actual dates (Christmas in November?) and intolerant Homer stopped being funny five seasons ago (Memo to writers: Think Different.) Quantity Doesn’t Equal Quality: The following are a few lessons gleaned from Rosie’s jam-packed train-wreck of a Variety Special. Alec Baldwin minus Tina Fey isn’t funny, time has not been kind to Clay Aiken and Rosie should stick to what she does best blogging. Or really, anything that doesn’t involve singing, dancing, fat jokes or sequins. (more…)
Week in Rewind: UGLY BETTY, TERMINATOR, 90210 & More!
2008-11-24 21:16:00
BETTY’s Back: Marc and Betty’s all too brief (see video above) albeit incredibly heart-warming moment at the end of Thursday’s BETTY was the highlight of what is shaping up to be an increasingly entertaining season. And no, we’re not just saying that because Michael Urie is our new Twitter BFF. 9021Oh-Oh: Here’s something for the brains behind 90210 to ponder while their show is on holiday hiatus. Thanks to Tuesday’s not-so-subtle hint at an unexpected bundle of joy for Adrianna, an absolutely ridiculous story involving Annie hiding the fact that she’s the school mascot and the truly unoriginal idea that the Wilson family’s newly discovered half-brother Sean is (surprise, surprise) up to no good, this TV Addict will be spending his holiday hiatus debating whether or not to return to the zip when 90210 returns in January. Hasta La Vista Toby Zeigler: TERMINATOR THE SARAH CONNOR CHRONICLES showrunner Josh Friedman may not makes thing ea...
TheTVaddict.com Week in Rewind
2008-11-10 15:33:00
Class Act of the Week: Elisabeth Hasselbeck While the cynic in us is still pondering the significance of Elisabeth Hasselbeck’s all black ensemble post election day on THE VIEW. This TV Addict will give her credit for as Defamer so eloquently put it, delivering one helluva concession speech (Not to mention summing up the energy for a fist bump with frequent verbal sparring partner Joy Behar.) Opportunity Wasted of the Week: CNN’s Election night hologram Not only was CNN’s reported 40 HD cameras at an estimated cost of $300 - $400,000 completely unnecessary on what turned out to be one of America’s most memorable elections ever. Correspondent Jessica Yellin completely botched her ‘lines’ by forgetting the one phrase every viewer was waiting with baited breath to hear, “Help Me Wolf Blitzer… you’re my only hope.” Poor Scheduling Decision of the Week: CW Tuesday How many of you found time to catch last week’s installmen...
TheTVaddict.com Week in Rewind
2008-10-27 14:23:00
Showrunner of the Week: Regardless of where your Winchester loyalty lies, this TV Addict thinks showrunner Eric Kripke deserves some serious kudos for poking the beast… err… we mean the SUPERNATURAL fandom and speaking out on an issue he felt needed clarification. It’s official, Dean is not a “Dick.” Showrunner of the Week (Runner-Up): Call me an obsessed dog owner (which by the way, guilty as charged, see Mac), but this week’s Showrunner of the Week (Runner-Up) is Shonda Rhimes, for doing what she does best. Taking another tried and true television cliché, which in PRIVATE PRACTICE’s case revolved around your standard troubled teen and parlaying it into an interesting story complete with a surprisingly emotional ending. Reminder You’re Getting Old of the Week: Following last week’s flashback to Sarah’s (Yvonne Strahovski) High School days on CHUCK which featured some ‘classic’ tracks courtesy of Paula Cole, ...

Most Welcome EX of the Week Here’s a formula even ex-Betty boy-toy Henry Grubstick can figure out. UGLY BETTY - Henry Grubstick + New York City = More Mode, more Marc, more Amanda and most importantly, more fun! Welcome back Betty. Least Welcome EX of the Week Elizabeth Reeser’s THE EX LIST attracted less viewers than MOONLIGHT. That sound you just heard, eight million MOONLIGHT fans muttering “I told you so.” Career Advice of the Week After sitting through Greg Kinnear’s FLASH OF GENIUS over the weekend, this TV Addict can’t help but wonder… How many non-descript supporting wives and girlfriends is ex-GILMORE GIRL Lauren Graham going to play until she comes to grips with the fact that her star shines brightest on the small screen. The Week in Rewind
2008-09-29 14:58:00
Most Unfortunate Show Title of the Week With FOX’s DO NOT DISTURB officially becoming the first causality of the fall season, this TV Addict must now ask the slightly obvious yet incredibly awkward question. Who picked the title?  I mean far be it from a lowly television blogger to criticize the ‘Proverbial Powers that Be,’ but would it not have made a little more sense to go with a slightly more positive moniker? Something along the lines of CHECKIN’ IN! GOING UP! FILLED TO CAPACITY! THE UNTITLED JERRY [DON’T HATE ME BECAUSE I’M MARRIED TO REBECCA ROMIJN] O’CONNELL PROJECT. We’re just sayin’ DO NOT DISTURB practically dared the audience not to tune in. And unfortunately mission accomplished. Career Misfire of the Week After requesting to be released from his duties as President Laura Roslin’s right-hand man on BATTLESTAR GALACTICA, actor Paul Campbell has unsuccessfully leveraged his upward momentum into a failed Bill Law...

BATTLESTAR GALACTICA With thirteen episodes remaining, serious kudos must go to the BATTLESTAR GALACTICA creative team for not only continuing to deliver one helluva final season, but forgoing all pretense of keeping the show accessible for new fans. Stand alone episodes, tedious exposition, who needs it? Certainly not when we’re this close to reaching earth! GREY’S ANATOMY Sloan’s new leaf! Callie and Hahn! Christina Cleaning! The Chief’s intern! Mer and Der! The only thing we’re not loving about the phenomenal string of post—WGA strike GREY’S ANATOMY episodes is that they’re coming to an end this Thursday. AMY RYAN Proving her Academy Award Nominated turn in GONE BABY GONE was no accident, we’ve got two words for Thursday’s remarkable guest starring turn by Amy Ryan — Emmy Nomination. Maybelline AGE REWIND highlight and conceal

In my everyday life I don’t use concealer much, but I’m making an extra special effort to even my skin while on a trip to LA so I took along my Maybelline Instant Age Rewind Double Face Perfector. In one little tube you get both a concealer and a highlighter. I just used the concealer on some little blemishes and the highlighter on my brow bone and a dot on the inside of my eye. There’s plenty more an experienced hand would use this for but I’m keeping it simple today and rewind just a little bit. Thanks to Total Beauty and CEW for the chance to try this. THE OFFICE Not only was spending the full twenty-two minutes at Dunder Mifflin Scranton a welcome change of pace from the recent over-the-top zany antics of Michael Scott. David Simon, THE WIRE, HBO show creator: Mr. Media Audio Interview Rewind
2008-04-29 02:45:00
(Mr. Media is on vacation this week, so we're rewinding to some of the podcast's earlier, most popular interviews to catch up new listeners!)Today, it?s January 26, 2007, and I am sitting across from David Simon, creator of the critically-acclaimed and Peabody Award-winning HBO series, The Wire. We are speaking at The Inn at the Bay in St. Petersburg, Florida, where Simon spent the last week working with students at Eckerd College. The fiftieth episode and fourth-season finale of The Wire aired just a few weeks ago, and the fifth season goes into production in March, so Simon is hopefully enjoying a vacation of sorts.I am an admitted late-comer to The Wire, having seen my first episode just last September in a New Jersey hotel room. I was struck by the show?s tension and extraordinarily tight script and character development, which has often been overshadowed by better-known HBO shows, such as The Sopranos and Deadwood. If you like those shows and you haven?t already caught The Wi...
