2009-10-27 05:59:00
DOWNLOAD THE FULL VERSE:LA "Give It To Me Entry" Producer: Scram Jones - 1:25 FULL Entry *Tibs Fav.™For those unaware, Rhymefest is currently conducting a contest for a guest spot on his upcoming collaboration with Saigon and producer Scram Jones "Give It To Me". The instrumental is available for download and further details can be read at contest host Ruby Hornet's page. In the video above, Rhymefest constructively critiques a series of submissions for the second time in the contest and leads off with none other than LA's! As our longtime GWHH readers know, LA (not 'La' as Rhymefest comically mispronounces, haha) is one half of LA & Mr. Music and he cranked out a verse for the contest last...
Rappers Team Up to Curb Community Violence: David Banner, Rhymefest, Naledg
2009-10-20 13:00:00
For weeks, we've been mulling ways to curb the community violence that has taken the lives of so many Chicago children, including the very recent and high-profile beating death of Fenger High school student Derrion Albert.  Here at the Kyles Files, caring locals and even community activists have written in with practical ideas about how we Average Joes and Janes can help.  I've signed up for several initiatives, and hope others follow through as well.  I'll keep adding suggestions as I get more, so keep sending them. Now it's time for some star power.  Missippi rapper David Banner teamed up with Rhymefest, Naledge, Twista and Skooda Chose to release a song and video, "Something's Wrong."    David Banner The powerful...

David Banner "Something Is Wrong RMX" f/ Lisa Ivey, Rhymefest, Naledge, & Twista Producer: 9th Wonder - FULL, CDQ, Track off upcoming album, Death Of A Popstar *TIBS FAV.™The backstory: David Banner and producer 9th Wonder released an original track named "Something is Wrong" earlier this month and in light of the Derrion Albert incident, Rhymefest, Naledge, and Twista all hopped on the remix for what has now become an even more powerful statement to stop the violence in urban youth not only in Chicago, but worldwide. On top of that, all the artists involved are meeting up this Tuesday in Chicago for a video shoot / anti-violence rally featuring relatives of victims of senseless Chicago violence and other local...
Want to Rap with Rhymefest? Enter This Contest
2009-10-16 20:30:00
Lil' Wayne and Drake are the current cameo kings, but who's to say local MCs with skills can't join the fun?  If you have lyrics to go, enter a competition that could give you an opportunity to rhyme alongside Rhymefest, one of my personal faves and former RedEye cover king.  All you have to do is download the instrumental for "Give It To Me," from the Ruby Hornet blog, record a verse and submit it. This isn't some track that will be buried in the back of the album either, according to my Ruby buddy, apparently it's really good, produced by a platinum producer, Scram Jones, and also will feature Saigon.  Details and a rather amusing video address from Rhymefest are all right...

Rhymefest "Binary Code" f/ Ladybug Mecca Producer: BKS - FULL, CDQ, Leftover track from the upcoming album, El Che *Tibs Fav.™Rhymefest "Angry Black Man On An Elevator" Producer: Lil' Jon - FULL, CDQ, Leftover track from the upcoming album, El Che *Tibs Fav.™Rhymefest decided to drop a couple tracks that will NOT make the final cut for El Che over @ his poppin' website elchethemovement.com. Kickin' it off w/ "Binary Code", this record is about the ladies and features a strange hook.. yet I dig it. The verses come correct as 'Fest uses online talk like "ttyl", "omg", etc. very cleverly. "Angry Black Man On An Elevator" was actually previously released but it was the 2nd track that 'Fest dropped...
Old School Sundays: Eminem vs. Rhymefest
2009-08-16 16:42:00
Eminem vs. RhymefestWas in a freestyling mood this morning so I dug up the classic Eminem vs. Rhymefest  battle for another installment of Old School Sundays. It may be common knowledge to even the casual hip hop fan, but before both were famous, Rhymefest defeated Eminem in the Scribble Jam 97 competition. And in the footage captured above, I wholeheartedly agree. Rhymefest's Suge Knight line was the instigator to the roof bein' torn off and it only gets betteer from there as he powerfully spit only a few more bars. Anyway, I know this is news to some of our readers out there so I hope this news (or reminder) helps you take Rhymefest even more seriously. Enjoy! -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------What do...
Rhymefest, Mikkey Halsted, Kamilah Sumner, & Slique live at the Wild Ha
2009-07-26 21:46:00
This past Tuesday night was the place to be if you are a Chicago hip hop enthusiast as Rhymefest and Mikkey Halsted headlined a show that also featured approximately 975 15? opening acts. Some true fans were able to stay through 2 o'clock in the morning to see a couple high-energy performances from the two MCs. Mikkey Halsted had the crowd going while also giving the talented up and coming R&B singer, Kamilah Sumner some shine as well. Sumner performed her version of Kanye West's "Say U Will" called "Heart Of A Lion", which visibly impressed everyone in attendance *guilty*. You can DL it below. Lastly, Rhymefest paid tribute to Michael Jackson, doning some MJ inspired attire and performing...
Rhymefest reps for Wal-Mart...on the South Side
2009-07-24 20:09:00
Rhymefest wants a Wal-Mart. Check out this video after the jump-- plus a really good track playing under it.  The South Side born rapper (one of my personal faves) urges people to push City Hall to add a Wal-Mart, and therefore jobs, on 83rd and Chatham. H/T fakeshoredrive.com which is associated with this segment. What do you think? Is this a good cause? Nice to see hip-hop culture standing up, especially in Chicago. Credit: Handout...

Rhymefest Speaks on ?El Che?
2007-11-16 22:07:00
“This album is constructed in a way that is cohesive, conceptual and relevant to the state of Hip-Hop today. I could go on and on about the producers or guest rap appearances that EL CHE has, but that’s not even what’s important. EL CHE represents revolution, and revolution is a complete change in how things ...

Kanye West?s mother, Dr. Donda West, suddenly died last night. Rhymefest, who co-wrote Kanye’s hit song “Jesus Walks,” confirmed the news to WGCI-FM in Chicago. The cause of death has yet to be confirmed, but she was reportedly in the Los Angeles area when she died. She was 58 years old. Kanye was given the news while in ...

2007-08-30 00:38:00
Word up yo, we back up in the spot to give you another hot one. Hey last week, our writer and Denver representa Badnews conversed with Chicago's Rhymefest. Who is Rhymefest? Well, for starters he's an MC who was the Co-writer for Kanye West's Grammy winning single "Jesus Walks". He's also appeared several movie soundtracks such as The Rundown, Take The Lead and Big Momma's House 2. On top of that, he dropped his first album Blue Collar in July of 2006. Is that enough, well there's more. He's also made countless TV appearances for such shows as VH1's Driven, Nick Cannon's Wild N Out as well as do a voiceover for a character in that performs the theme song for MTV's Crank Yankers. Whoa! That's a lot. But enough about his accolades and such, let's get to know more about how he came up in the music game to what he'll be doing in the near future....Badnews: What?s good with you?Rhymefest: I?m doing good man just in the studio with Kanye working on some music.BadNews: Wow. Ok...

You know what, I’m not even going to front, Rhymefest’s new album “El Che” is starting to sound a lot better then Com’s “Finding Forever” especially after hearding this joint. This footage is another Koneerok production, the same brotha who brought you Rhymefest at Lil Jon’s crib recording ‘Angry black man on an Elevator’. This time he heads to Jazzy’s crib to record another track for “El Che” name of the song is unknown, but its a track about women, the ugly, the fat, and ...
Rhymefest - ?I came home ft. Marsha prod. by Kanye West?
2007-06-25 06:17:00
Another banger off “El Che”, Rhymefest’s upcoming album releasing in either Winter 07′ or Spring 08′ (still tentative), the track features Marsha from Floetry (they need to drop another album soon too..) and produced by Kanye West. I hope the brotha choses this as his next single, a solid music video with this track would ...

Rhymefest - ‘Angry black man on an elevator prod. by Lil Jon’
2007-05-27 04:04:00
Never judge a book by its cover, and definitely don’t judge a song by its title, you might just end up nodding your head to it… New music from Rhymefest, off his upcoming album “El Che”, the album is set to be released in the Winter of 2007 or Spring 2008. Featured artist include Kanye West, Nas, The Game, John Legend, Raekwon, Method Man, Ghostface Killah, Eminem & Little Brother. Some nice little colabos right there, so definitely look out or that.
Rhymefest - Blue Collar
2007-04-18 15:27:00
Chicago rapper Rhymefest made a powerful ally in Kanye West following their collaboration on the Grammy winning track “Jesus Walks.” Rapper/producer West returns the favor with stellar production work and guest spots on ‘Blue Collar’, Rhymefest’s debut album. What one hears on ‘Blue Collar’ shouldn’t surprise fans of West, or any of his contemporaries–gangsta ...
