'WWE right to deny Flair Fame'
2008-06-06 21:42:00 ...Well I'm sure before announcing and advertising Flair's appearance, the NWA?s head honcho Robert Trobich - a lawyer, no less - got written confirmation from WWE regarding their contracted personality who was just in a featured match at WrestleMania. I mean, surely an attorney at law would have the common sense not to go public with Flair's appearance before having something in writing, right?...More?source: thesun.co.ukIt's a frightening thought that I am in agreement with Paul Heyman, but he is right on with this on. The NWA got themselves into this mess and it will be interesting to watch the fallout.

Ric Flair/NWA/WWE Update
2008-06-05 22:03:00 From the NWA website:Ric Flair, part of the 2008 NWA Hall of Fame class, will unfortunately not be present to receive this honor on Saturday, June 7, 2008 at Philips Arena in Atlanta, GA. World Wrestling Entertainment, which has a contractual relationship with Flair, will not permit Flair to attend the ceremony."I am deeply sorry that Ric will not be in Atlanta for the Hall of Fame ceremony", said NWA Executive Director Robert K. Trobich. "Ric was very honored to be recognized by the NWA and wanted to be in Atlanta to thank his fans. Unfortunately, the WWE refused to allow him to be there. It is truly a sad action on their part, as the main people injured by the WWE's seeming petulance is the wrestling fans. Nonetheless, Ric Flair was a legend in the NWA long before the WWE was anything other than a regional promotion in the northeast. As such, Ric will still be a member of the 2008 class. He has earned that honor, and we intend to bestow it upon him", said Trobich.and this from ra...

He's a thinking man's wrestler, and always looks like he's two steps ahead of his opponents. The man seamlessly transitions from cowardly heel to superhuman babyface to ruthless monster heel to humorous everyman. Flaired Out: Time to Retire
2008-03-19 02:07:00 Interesting opinion from a fan about Ric Flair's retirement that unfortunately I agree with:Being a legend in any field gives one a certain number of abilities. You can get free meals, gifts, respect, the love of endless fans? But of them, the worst to exploit is not knowing when to let go. Michael Jordan?s return to the NBA with the Washington Wizards was a disaster by any stretch when put side-by-side with his previous work, and were it not for the overwhelming nature of his legend, it might have been remembered as one of the worst decisions in sports. A similar situation can be found playing out right now in the world of Sports Entertainment. Last night I watched a rather bland ?street fight? between Vince McMahon and Ric Flair, and it became obvious that Flair?s time is dangerously close to being up...More?source: bannendrome.wordpress.com

Austin: WWE not giving Flair sendoff he deserves
2008-02-17 14:34:00 Stone Cold Steve Austin, who pitched a Rocky-like storyline for Ric Flair's final year with WWE, said last week that he hasn't been pleased with the angle thus far.Austin laid out an elaborate scenario for Flair's last major run with the company following last year's Wrestlemania, but a revised, watered-down angle didn't take root until late November when WWE owner Vince McMahon announced that Flair would have to retire the next time he lost.Plans for the original storyline called for Flair to either win the title for a 17th and final time before retiring, or lose in an emotional, competitive match for the gold at Wrestlemania 24 in late March. Flair, however, doesn't appear to be in the title hunt at this year's big show, and his most likely opponent for his final match appears to be Shawn Michaels...More?source: charleston.net

Ric Flair: Still stylin and profilin.
2008-01-29 13:34:00 Just a few weeks ago, the chairman of the WWE, Vince McMahon, has put a stranglehold on Ric Flair's legendary career. McMahon stated that Flair's next loss will mean the end of his career. Each and every week, the challenges sent towards the wrestler from Charlotte, North Carolina are getting tougher and tougher. Until last sunday's Royal Rumble, Flair managed to keep his head out of the water by avoiding the career-ending defeat. Even the great Triple H failed to inflict a loss to the Nature Boy during Monday Night Raw a few weeks ago.But at the Royal Rumble, Montel Vontavious Porter, (MVP) the reigning United States champion was standing on Ric Flair's path. I thought that this matchup was too much for the veteran wrestler. But against all odds, Ric Flair took every shot from his opponent and managed to lock in his figure four leg lock in the center of the ring.MVP had to tap out, unable to deal with the painful hold. (Yes the figure four is a painful hold. I tried it on my you...

WWE or TNA? I Want Your Take
2007-06-22 02:12:00 Yes?I am going to post another opinion question (except this will be longer). I know that we technically don?t cover TNA on this website, but after seeing two videos that were posted on nodq.com (see the ?excitement? category for links) I started comparing the two products. Ben initially covered TNA in his article "Why You Should Be Watching TNA" but he stopped the discussion before a comparison of brands. I'd like to break it down for you now:Category 1: ExcitementI?ll start off by posting links to the best of TNA, and the best of AJ StylesThese two videos show incredible athleticism and creativity. After watching these videos I find myself wanting to become a TNA fan. Since WWE has such a huge fan base, TNA has to pull fans away from WWE and toward TNA. This means that TNA has to have this kind of excitement every single night to keep up with WWE (which I feel is not happening at all). Now I will give you some links to WWE videos: WWE1 and WWE2 (and i don't think that these two ...
