Pensar que ayer nomas el era joven y yo era un chico que admiraba como el desde su corta edad junto a sus compañeros desafiaba al mundo y producía una maravillosa música. Ringo era el menos todo de los Beatles, el mas subestimado. Era el que había llegado mas tarde, aquel al que las primeras admiradoras del grupo, las "provincianas" fans de Liverpool rechazaban por ser el reemplazante de Pete Best, el mas seductor de los cuatro hasta ese momento, debido a su parecido con James Dean.( lo que desde entonces iba a ubicar a Best en la leyenda del loser, porque fue a partir de allí que se inició la masividad del grupo en Inglaterra primero, y en todo el planeta en forma inmediata). 2008-01-23 19:39:00 Ringo Starr is not the correct answer to "who's your favorite Beatle?" but he was an integral part of a world changing musical phenomenon. And actually, I've admired many of his solo career songs (Photograph, Six O'Clock) and he seems like a nice man. But this song, Liverpool 8 as played on Letterman the other night is one of those obtuse and wordy anthems that many of my aging heroes including Neil Young, Tom Petty and Bob Dylan seem to resort to after the song writing spark goes out. The festivities started Friday night with Ringo Starr, Dave Stewart and about 600 other musicians at St. George's Hall in front of 40,000 people.The forty minute show included Starr singing the title song from his new album, Liverpool 8, along with children's choirs, acrobats and a group of performing forklifts.Starr and Stewart were back again on Saturday night for Liverpool: The Musical, a 100-minute spectacular at the Echo Arena. The show highlighted some of the best and brightest of the cities many musical acts. Starr once again performed Liverpool 8, along with With a Little Help From My Friends and a version of John Lennon's Power to the People. Echo & the Bunnymen were also featured.The city will have more than 350 more cultural events over the next year.

The timing is perfect as the conference is in March and the new album is set for release on April 1.Charlie Daniels has selected Shooter Jennings and .38 Special as his tour mates for the 2008 edition of the Volunteer Jam Tour. Dates run from April 11 & 12 in Harris, MI through August 12 at the Iowa State Fair. Daniels has been doing the tour since 1974.
