Ryan perfects two step punt
2007-08-11 15:10:00 A lot has been made of Green Bay Packers punter Jon Ryan's switch to a two step approach in his punting.Just revealed today was the fact that Ryan had reverted back to a three step approach on the first day of training camp unconsciously once he felt a rush coming."Once you get that rush coming at you, it feels more like a game, and everything kind of went back to what I was comfortable with," Ryan told the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "I didn't even know at the time. Then, I watched the film, and I wanted to hit myself."Things are now fixed, and Ryan is back to a two step approach. He's also farther back from the line of scrimmage."The change moved him farther from the line of scrimmage ? from 9 or 9½ yards to 10½ or 11 yards ? making it more difficult to rush him. It also shortened his stride," reports Tom Pelissero of the Press-Gazette.I Wonder if this will affect long snapper Rob Davis at all?Welcome to the Railbird feed. Eat up.
Favre misses practice again
2007-08-02 19:43:00 Green Bay Packers quarterback unexpectedly missed practice Thursday morning."Favre was expected to return Wednesday night after flying to Mississippi for the funeral of his wife's stepfather," reports Tom Pelissero of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "The reason for his absence was not immediately clear."Favre was not the only one either. As part of head coach Mike McCarthy's plan, several selected veterans will only be practicing once during the two-a-day practices. It is unknown whether Favre was simply missing due to being held out by McCarthy or whether he may have been delayed in returning to Green Bay.Among the players missing morning practice were:Tackles Chad Clifton and Mark Tauscher, receiver Donald Driver and Robert Ferguson (showed up late), defensive ends Aaron Kampman and Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, cornerbacks Charles Woodson and Al Harris, tight end Bubba Franks and long-snapper Rob Davis.
Terry and Davis step into new role
2007-07-27 14:55:00 Green Bay Packers pro personnel assistant Tim Terry was named as the team's acting director of player programs. Long snapper Rob Davis will assist him."The two will combine to replace former Packers linebacker George Koonce, who left his position recently as programs director to work for the Marquette University athletic department," reports Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.Terry will also continue to work in the personnel department.
Clearing up some confusion
2007-07-26 15:18:00 Green Bay Packers long snapper Rob Davis is apparently headed for a job in the team's front office, but not in the same position held as the recently departed George Koonce."Not on a solo basis," Packers general manager Ted Thompson told the Wisconsin State Journal. "It would depend on what he wants to do, how interested he is in it. But certainly it's something we're kicking around."Original reports had Davis taking over the role vacated by Koonce. |
