2007-12-04 17:56:00 Robert Ferguson, author of Conquering the Munchie Monster, is a TV personality, motivational speaker and expert on performance fitness and nutrition. He works with every day people, celebrities, executives and elite professional boxers such as Fernando Vargas, Sergio Mora, Samuel Peter, Lucia Rijker, Stevie Forbes and Maureen Shea to name a few.One of the biggest problems with Health and fitness centers is that they lack quality nutrition and weight loss programs. What surprises most people is that nearly 100% of those who join a health club do so because they want to shed a few inches, but unfortunately a large majority of these facilities offer little to nothing when it comes to using food to lose weight. After months of negotiations and consideration about which health and fitness club would be the best fit for a quality nutrition and weight loss service in Ventura County, California - Robert Ferguson has partnered up with both LA Workout in Camarillo, California and LeMirage Fitn...

Interview With Robert Ferguson, Performance Nutritionist to Career Boxers
2007-08-24 12:51:00 Hailing from the Midwest state of Indiana, author Robert Ferguson, the creator of the “Food Lover’s Fat Loss System,” performance nutritionist to career boxers such as Maureen Shea and Sergio Mora (The Contender), a motivational weight loss coach and speaker, discusses his passions in life, work, and family.Robert, you are a weight loss coach and a motivational speaker. How did you get into this field? I’m a former U.S. Marine. During my time in the military and afterward, I worked in the areas of rape and assault prevention. I facilitated seminars around the country to help diminish violence committed against women. At the time, I was a co-owner of a health club and had always been an athlete. A group of women who worked out there asked me to put on a weight loss seminar. Not knowing much about “dieting,” I phoned home to Mom, a lifetime dieter. She laughed and said despite what I knew about athletics and human performance, there was no way I cou...

Robert Ferguson, Larry Johnson, and a Manning gets on my nerves
2007-08-22 22:55:00 More NFL news, this time with happy landings for a few players. Larry Johnson, RB, KC -- Johnson finally signed a contract extension which gives him the big money he's wanted. So everything is fine now, time to draft LJ #2 overall right? Nope. He still has a rookie quarterback, a patched up offensive line and is coming off a season where he had an NFL record 416 carries. Let me say that again because it's worth repeating: Nobody in the history of the NFL had as many carries in a season as Johnson had last season. I still don't like him as the #2 or #3 overall pick, and in PPR leagues I could see him slip out of the top five. Robert Ferguson, WR, Minnesota -- The longtime Packer and longtime injury list resident signed a contract with the Vikings. It seems as though Ferguson has been in the league forever, but he's only 27 years old. That's significant because 27 is the age that players tend to break out with big seasons. No, wait...

Jennings unhappy at X
2007-08-18 15:53:00 Green Bay Packers wide receiver Greg Jennings is unhappy at the X receiver position on the team. The X receiver sometimes gets the short end of the stick. For example, if the X is on the weak side, there may be another wide receiver, a slot receiver and a tight end all on the strong side. The quarterback is going to read the strong side first where he has three options to throw.Robert Ferguson is a classic example of a receiver who played several seasons at the X position. As Packer fans intimately know, Ferguson had little more than a minor impact on the offense."I told him, 'I see how you didn't progress (as a receiver) at the X position,' " Jennings is quoted as saying in the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "It's tough. If you don't have a slot receiver on your inside, you're last in the progression 90% of the time. There's a tight end, slot and flanker on the other side. You have three different options over there and just one back here."In Jennings's defense, he was not acti...
It's official
2007-08-18 15:43:00 Robert Ferguson has been cut. The Packers tried to trade him, but there were no takers. It's not like teams weren't interested in him. They just knew they could sign him once he was released."Ferguson's hefty $1.8 million base salary made him an unattractive trade option for several teams interested in his services, and as a result the Packers simply released him Friday afternoon," writes Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "Any team that would have traded for Ferguson would have had to count that $1.8 million salary against its cap, and with the knowledge the Packers didn't want Ferguson anymore there was no reason to give up a draft choice or a player."Welcome to the Railbird feed. Eat up.

Ferguson is gone
2007-08-17 05:05:00 It's 10 p.m. CST as I write, and by the time I wake up and refresh the site, Robert Ferguson will no longer be a member of the Green Bay Packers. The Packers will attempt to trade Ferguson. In the event that doesn't happen, he will be cut regardless."Coach Mike McCarthy said after practice tonight the team is talking with several teams about a possible trade, but even if one is not worked out, Ferguson will not play for the Packers again," reports Tom Pelissero of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "A final decision is expected Friday morning.""McCarthy said he met with Ferguson about 5 p.m. to inform him of the decision and tell him not to come for the 6:30 p.m. practice," Pelissero continues. "McCarthy mentioned the improved play of Ruvell Martin and Carlyle Holiday as factors."The Packers would gladly accept a seventh round pick for Ferguson. They'd probably also accept a long shot player from another team even if that player is eventually cut. Something is better than nothing as the...
Chalk up Holiday for roster spot
2007-08-15 16:21:00 Green Bay Packer receiver Carlyle Holiday looks like he isn't going to be denied a roster spot.Wide receiver is where Holiday is listed on the team's depth chart, but his contributions on special teams is where he may get that roster berth. And it's against a player like Robert Ferguson with whom Holiday is competing. Ferguson used to be a special teams ace in his own right."If this were three years ago, Ferguson would be a lock for one of those spots because his special-teams play was superior to anyone on the team," reports Tom Silverstein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel. "But so far this summer, Holiday has been better, especially Saturday night when he had two outstanding coverage tackles against the Pittsburgh Steelers."Holiday lined up with four different special teams squads on Saturday improving his chances all the more.So how does Holiday stack up against the rest of the team?"Holiday and second-year receiver Ruvell Martin are locked in a battle for the No. 4 spot," wri...
Jones turns heads
2007-08-10 19:04:00 The buzz surrounding Green Bay Packers rookie wide receiver James Jones has quelled over the past couple of days. It was really high last week and immediately after this past Saturday's scrimmage. But now that the word is out, most people have gone onto analyzing different aspects of the Packers. In most people minds Jones has already won the team's No. 3 wide receiver job.Jones recently got some attention on the NFL's official website. Writer Adam Schefter has listed Jones as one of his "rookies to watch in the preseason.Schefter writes, "Last year, the Packers nabbed Greg Jennings out of Western Michigan in the second round; this year, they got Jones out of San Jose State in the third. Those two receivers have the chance to be the type of players that quarterback Brett Favre wishes he could have thrown to throughout his career. The Packers believe Jones has made more early-in-camp catches than Robert Brooks or Antonio Freemen did. He has made acrobatic long catches and demonstr...
Rouse and Ferguson drop out of practice
2007-08-10 19:00:00 According to Tom Silvestein of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, "Safety Aaron Rouse (ankle) dropped out of the night practice after getting hurt during kickoff return and receiver Robert Ferguson had a bag of ice on his right hip at the end of practice."No other mention of their injuries has been made in the mainstream media, so it's unlikely that they're serious. But there is still no word whether they'll play in Satuday's preseason game against the Pittsburgh Steelers. If I were a betting man, I would think they'll be playing tomorrow. They have jobs to win.Welcome to the Railbird feed. Eat up.
Favre misses practice again
2007-08-02 19:43:00 Green Bay Packers quarterback unexpectedly missed practice Thursday morning."Favre was expected to return Wednesday night after flying to Mississippi for the funeral of his wife's stepfather," reports Tom Pelissero of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "The reason for his absence was not immediately clear."Favre was not the only one either. As part of head coach Mike McCarthy's plan, several selected veterans will only be practicing once during the two-a-day practices. It is unknown whether Favre was simply missing due to being held out by McCarthy or whether he may have been delayed in returning to Green Bay.Among the players missing morning practice were:Tackles Chad Clifton and Mark Tauscher, receiver Donald Driver and Robert Ferguson (showed up late), defensive ends Aaron Kampman and Kabeer Gbaja-Biamila, cornerbacks Charles Woodson and Al Harris, tight end Bubba Franks and long-snapper Rob Davis.
Martin finally catches on
2007-08-01 16:46:00 The Green Bay Press-Gazette listed wide receiver Ruvell Martin in their thumbs up section in Wednesday's edition.Last year's no. 3 wideout is one of the few receivers with real size to him, and Tuesday he had a really good practice."During the morning session, he ran a fade pattern on fourth-and-goal from the 5-yard line and caught a touchdown in the left corner of the end zone over cornerback Will Blackmon," writes Rob Demovsky of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "He then caught a deep ball on a sideline route over cornerback Patrick Dendy during a blitz period in the night practice."It comes at a perfect time for Martin who might be falling behind Donald Driver, Greg Jennings and James Jones in the top three rotation. Even Carlyle Holiday, Robert Ferguson and David Clowney will provide stiff competition for the fourth spot."Perhaps it signaled a turnaround for Martin, who according to unofficial training camp statistics compiled by the Press-Gazette, had not made a catch during a te...
Wide receivers stick out
2007-07-31 14:36:00 According to reports, Green Bay Packer wide receivers made some of the nicest plays of the day during Monday's training camp practices. Here are some of the highlights according to Tom Pelissero of the Green Bay Press-Gazette:Wide receiver Carlton Brewster caught a fade pass over cornerback Patrick Dendy on third-and-goal from the 8. The TD pass came from quarterback Ingle Martin. In a one-on-one receiver-vs.-defensive back drill, Ruvell Martin caught two long passes that would have gone for TDs. He beat cornerback Frank Walker, then safety Marquand Manuel. In the same drill, (James) Jones ran a crisp route, came back for the ball and made a tough catch in tight coverage.(Robert) Ferguson had a nifty, leaping grab over Will Blackmon in the end zone that curiously drew congratulations from defenders on the sideline.
Favre struggles at night practice
2007-07-30 16:02:00 Green Bay Packers quarterback Brett Favre struggled through his team's Sunday night training camp practice. It's hard to blame him, though. He had been planning for funeral arrangements mere hours earlier in the day."'It clearly wasn't his best practice,' McCarthy said of Favre, who is expected to fly to Mississippi on Monday after the death of his wife's stepfather. He is scheduled to return Wednesday, meaning he'll miss three practices," reports Tom Pelissero of the Green Bay Press-Gazette.Favre was particularly dogged by little known cornerback Antonio Malone."Malone intercepted a Favre pass intended for Robert Ferguson," reports Mike Vandermause of the Press-Gazette. "On the next play, Favre beat Malone on a deep pass to James Jones. But Malone won the rubber match on the next play by intercepting a badly underthrown Favre pass."
Favre and Morency sit out morning practice
2007-07-29 17:19:00 Sunday sees both a morning practice and an evening practice for the Green Bay Packers. The morning practice began at 8:45 a.m."Not present at practice were QB Brett Favre, RB Vernand Morency and TE Tory Humphrey," reports Tom Pelissero of the Green Bay Press-Gazette. "Selected veterans generally will sit out some morning workouts during training camp."Humphrey is obviously out due to injury. Favre is being rested as he typically is. But no reason has been given for Morency's absence.Pelissero also reports, "Practicing in shorts this morning are: WR Donald Driver, TE Bubba Franks, P David Lonie, T Chad Clifton, WR Robert Ferguson, DE Aaron Kampman, DL Ryan Pickett, LB Juwan Simpson and DL Johnny Jolly."This can only come as good news regarding Driver, Pickett and Jolly, all of whom were not allowed to practice at all on Saturday.
Ferguson surprises
2007-07-29 16:06:00 Green Bay Packers fans probably weren't expecting much from wide receiver Robert Ferguson who sat a majority of last season out with an injury. There's even a subsection of fans who probably don't want to see Ferguson succeed. Pretty much a career underachiever, Ferguson could be taking the roster spot of younger players with potential. But Ferguson got off to a good start at the team's first training camp practice on Saturday."Ferguson, who missed 12 games last season because of a mid-foot sprain, beat Patrick Dendy down the right sideline for a long completion from Brett Favre, then galloped into the end zone," reports Tom Pelissero of the Green Bay Press-Gazette."Ferguson, a disappointment since signing a five-year, $13 million deal before the 2004 season, also made a nifty catch on a pass from Ingle Martin, and he bounced up quickly after safety Atari Bigby accidentally knocked him to the ground after a completion over the middle," continues Pelissero.Packer fans can only hope...
Random boners
2007-07-29 16:01:00 There were plenty of mistakes and lapses in concentration at the first training camp practice for the Green Bay Packers. Among the most obvious according to the Green Bay Press-Gazette's Tom Pelissero:CB Will Blackmon had a chance for the day's only interception, but Ingle Martin's errant pass bounced off his chest.Shaun Bodiford looked about as bad as any pro receiver possibly could while trying to adjust to an Aaron Rodgers pass during 7-on-7. S Marquand Manuel appeared to be at fault for a coverage breakdown that left WR Robert Ferguson wide open down the right sideline during the special-category period. QB Brett Favre underthrew Ferguson so badly, though, that Ferguson had no chance to come back and make the catch. In addition to (running back Brandon) Jackson's two drops in team periods, rookie TE Clark Harris dropped a pass down the seam; RB Vernand Morency fumbled; and Charlie Peprah stripped WR Carlton Brewster after a catch.Perhaps most surprisingly, Bodiford didn't ev...
A look at the receivers
2007-07-21 17:56:00 After Fox Sports recently took a critical look at the Green Bay Packers receiving corps, it was time the local media did the same.Today's editions of the Green Bay Press-Gazette and the Wisconsin State Journal both take a look at the state of the Packers' wideouts.Pete Dougherty of the Green Bay Press-Gazette writes, "Some of the fate of the Packers' passing game rides on whether (Greg) Jennings can become a productive and occasionally dangerous player." Meanwhile, Jason Wilde of the Wisconsin State Journal states, "The darkhorse is veteran Robert Ferguson, who missed all but four games last season because of a Lisfranc foot injury and could be nearing the end of the line in Green Bay. But if Ferguson can recapture the form he showed late in the 2003 season, he could be the additional playmaker the offense is searching for."Click the links to take a further look into the state of the Packers' future at wide receiver.
Packers receivers get little praise
2007-07-20 17:55:00 Bill Barnwell of Football Outsiders recently ranked the Green Bay Packers receiving corps as the 28th best unit in the entire NFL in an article for Fox Sports.According to Barnwell, "In 2005, Donald Driver was a legitimate No. 1 receiver, fifth in the league with 30.7 DPAR, and losing significant chunks of yardage from his totals because of pass interference penalties he drew. In 2006, he retreated to 37th with 12.7 DPAR. If he's not the player he was in 2005, the Packers are in trouble; while Greg Jennings emerged as a starter, he was abysmal. His -6.8 DPAR was good for 80th in the league, while Bubba Franks' -6.5 DPAR had him dead last amongst all tight ends. Robert Ferguson's staying healthy would help a little bit, and Ruvell Martin had a nice year in limited time, but there are still way too many holes to be filled here."In interesting mode of evaluation is being used to rate the receiver, what Barnwell calls DPAR.Barnwell describes DPAR or Defense-adjusted Points Above Repl... |
